Sarah Wayne Callies Talks Lori's Fate On THE WALKING DEAD
At the 100th issue party for the The Walking Dead Comic actress Sarah Wayne Callies talked about the TV show based on the comic and what she thinks the fate of her character should be. Spoilers for those who haven't read the comics. ![]() For those of you who have read the comic you know that Lori and her baby are killed at the prison in The Walking Dead. Sarah Wayne Callies, who plays Lori on the television show of the same name, told The Hollywood Reporter that she think Lori has to die in the show as well. "Frank Darabont and I actually, before he was tragically and unfairly removed from the show, we used to argue about it, I argued that it was necessary to kill Lori and I feel very strongly that for all of the other deviations we may have from the comic book, killing Lori does something to Rick that is vital for the story and can’t be done any other way,” she said. While continuing on the subject she revealed that from the beginning when she was cast in the part that not only has she been okay with it but insisted that she HAS to. She went on to add that she has played the character with her eye at the end. The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincon, Sarah Wayne Callies, Chandler Riggs, Norman Reedus, Lori Holden, Melissa McBride, Lauren Cohan, Iron E Singleton, Danai Gurira, David Morrissey, and will return on October 14, 2012. |

Talk Michonne, The Governor And More
Creator Robert Kirkman and producer David Alpert discuss the introduction of Michonne, promise that the Governor won't be toned down for TV ("We're going to do some stuff that's going to shock some people") and comment on the role of the prison. With Michonne, The Governor and the Prison all set to make their debut in season three of The Walking Dead, fans of the comic book series will know that we have an awful lot to look forward to. Talking to Shock Till You Drop at last night's Saturn Awards, Robert Kirkman had this to say about the introduction of fan favourite character, Michonne. "I can say that I'm completely in denial when I see Danai [Gurira] walk out on set and jump off the page. As badass as she is in the comics, seeing her move and seeing her kill the zombies in motion is so much more intense that you can believe. Fans of the comics are going to love it. She's great." The series has often taken liberties with the source material, and the trailer for the third season seemed to indicate that they will be handling the introduction of The Governor somewhat differently. Producer David Alpert assures fans that they needn't worry about the villain being toned down for television. "The Governor...if you're familiar with the books, we're totally going to go there this season. We're going to do some stuff that's going to shock some people who don't know the comics. We're bringing back Merle...It's going to get pretty intense and pretty crazy. The biggest thing I have to say is that, as the storytelling picked up at the end of season two, and the speed of events happening -- well, we're increasing it. Season three is going to be non-stop, in your face, intense. This is the point in the show that I've been excited about giving the audience since season one." "Normally when you think of a prison, you think it's unpleasant," Alpert added when talk turned to the prison. We caught a glimpse of this location in the last episode of season two, and in season three, it play a MAJOR role. "It's a place you want to stay away from. It's a drain on society. You really think about it in negative terms. In this world, it represents hope. It's potential salvation -- unless you've read the books." Oh, and the biggest threat this season according to Kirkman? "In the beginning there were lurkers and walkers and biters. In season two there was the herd. Now we're bringing in man. Man is where we're going next." Another New, Original Character Joining ‘The Walking Dead’ TV Series
![]() The Walking Dead television series has set itself apart from its comic book source by not only deviating from the original plot but also adding new characters to the cast. In the first season there were a handful of new faces, all pretty forgettable except for Daryl Dixon and his loudmouth, racist brother Merle – who’s expected to return this season. Now another new character is joining the series, Milton, a resident of the of Woodbury community that’s over seen by another Season 3 newcomer, the Governor (David Morrisey). Milton will be played by Dallas Roberts (Rubicon, The Good Wife) and here’s what Walking Dead creator, Robert Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly about the new guy, Milton is the details guy. He’s the guy that works with the Governor, who is monitoring all situations and is trying to help the Governor make sense of this world that they’re living in. He’s not exactly a scientist, but he’s a smart guy that is trying to find out how zombies behave. Watching him do his little experiments is going to be a lot of fun. Experiments? On zombies? Oh this is going to be fun. Especially if they stay true to the book concerning this one thing about the Governor that I can’t get into right now ’cause spoilers. If you’ve read the comics you might know what I’m talking about. Y’know, why the Governor might be personally invested in learning more about zombies. Anyway, showrunner Glen Mazzara continues explaining how Milton sought to make himself useful in the zombie-laden apocalypse, We were examining, ‘How do people survive in this apocalyptic world, and what can people contribute?’ And we didn’t think it was plausible that every single character we meet is an efficient zombie killer. We just didn’t buy that everyone we know would be active and deft enough to kill every walker. We wanted to show how other people survive, and Dallas has come in and helped us establish that character. He just adds a lot of heart and humanity to Woodbury, which further complicates what that is. That is a real town with real people and real survivors. It’s not necessarily a group of bad guys. Sounds to like he’ll make an interesting addition, what do you guys think? |

Says the show's exec producer Robert Kirkman..
“This season really is about setting up these two worlds and watching them come to a head and collide. And you know that there are going to be some pretty explosive encounters between Rick and the Governor. This season is going to be about getting to know these two characters, and then waiting for their eventual confrontation that could destroy everything.” ![]() |

Norman Reedus And Michael Rooker Talk The Dixon Brother's Reunion On THE WALKING DEAD
Merle Dixson is set to return this season for AMC's hit TV show The Walking Dead, and during a photo shoot Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker sat down to talk about just what exactly we can expect from the family reunion. ![]() When the trailer for season three of The Walking Dead hit, fans were pleasantly surprised to see Merle Dixon as part of The Governor's crew. People have been wondering just how his little brother Daryl will react when the two meet up for the first time since Merle made the decision to cut his hand off and escape from Atlanta. During the photo shoot for Entertainment Weekly Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker spoke about what is sure to be one twisted family reunion. "I think they are going to be happy to see each other, but this one is going to be a little more pissed off," said Reedus pointing to Rooker. "I’m always pissed off, so that’s not fair," responded Rooker. He also went on to say that he believes that Daryl is really the only one person that Merle likes. The Walking Dead is set to return on October 14th of this year, and sparks are bond to fly when Merle meets back up with the group that abandoned him back in Atlanta. Throw Daryl's alliance to the group that has helped him survive as well as his allegiance to his brother and it would appear we are in for a chaotic season three. Keep up with the latest on The Walking Dead by checking back here at CBM daily. |

EXCLUSIVE: THE WALKING DEAD's Michael Rooker On Playing Merle Dixon
One half of the famous Dixon brothers took time out of his extremely busy schedule to answer some questions for us about his time on The Walking Dead, Activision's video game, and more which you can read after the jump! Merle Dixon (Michael Rooker) first appeared in the first season of AMC's The Walking Dead, and fans instantly loved the character because of his explicit and relentless behavior. We last saw the real Merle in Season 1, handcuffed to the roof an Atlanta building. However, we do know he has escaped by chopping off his hand and somehow made his way to Woodbury. Actor Michael Rooker is responsible for bringing this new character to life and took some time out of his tremendous schedule to answer a few questions about the zombie drama. Initially, what attracted you to the role of Merle Dixon? The role of Merle Dixon and me being in the Walking Dead is a karma job for me. A couple decades ago there was a chance to work with Frank Darabont and it didn't work out...and I wanted to do something for him for a while. Merle started out as one episode and they just didn't have a lot budgeted for the character. And then it turned into something wonderful,...a challenging role that I am honored to play.. After filming Season 1, did you have any clue on Merle’s fate? Honestly? No. I didn't have a clue....and I'm still trying to figure it out. [laughs]Has The Walking Dead changed your view on zombie media at all? I don't think so. I mean zombies have always been popular in movies and books....and even before Night of the Living Dead, the idea of zombies was present. Of course the Internet has broadened the effect, connecting fans across continents. Merle Dixon is set to star alongside Daryl in Activision’s The Walking Dead video game. Are you involved in the project? Yes, I plan to be a part of the game.Merle was an original character to the TV Show. How did you go about making this character your own? The character is my own. I mean, the source material was amazing and I was able to simply tap into my southern upbringing and let the character flow from there. I'm very fortunate to work with such great material and actors and crew...and I think as a result it's been some of the best work I've done in my career.Do you think Merle Dixon could fit in The Walking Dead’s comic universe? Yes, of course! [pauses] But, uhhh, you'll have to take that up with [Robert] Kirkman. The last time we saw Merle, he was a figment of Daryl’s imagination. Will Season 3’s Merle be very different from that “ghost”? Delusion or not, Merle will definitely let his feelings be known [laughs]How good is your relationship with the rest of the cast? It's an amazing group of great actors and they're great people...especially my little brother Daryl. [pauses] I mean Norman [Reedus].Merle has a very explicit nature. Has anything you acted out so far made you uncomfortable? Nah.....I mean being uncomfortable is a good thing for an actor. How I feel as a person can't be allowed to influence all of what I do as a character. And Merle is definitely a character. Are there any Marvel or DC characters that you think you could play or voice? Every single one [laughs]Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to answer these questions! Thanks for the questions man! Appreciate the support! What are you most looking forward to from Season 3 of The Walking Dead? Sound off with your thoughts below, and don't forget that you can HEAR Michael Rooker in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and catch him on TV this fall on The Walking Dead. |
