New Alien: Covenant Footage Teases the Grim Fate of Noomi Rapace's Prometheus Character

We’ve known for a while that Noomi Rapace would be reprising her role as Prometheus’ Liz Shaw in Covenant—but now a rather oblique piece of viral marketing seems to have dropped a big hint about her appearance in the film.

Last night, Fox dropped a new TV spot for the movie, set to John Denver’s classic “Take Me Home, Country Roads.” Check it out:

This Latest ALIEN: COVENANT Promotional Image Might Just Contain A Massive Plot SPOILER

Is 20th Century Fox determined to spoil every single aspect of Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant prior to its release? This new promo image could well be misdirection, but if not, you've been warned.

The general consensus seems to be that movie trailers spoil far to many elements of the plot these days, but Fox may have taken things to a whole new level with their latest bit of Alien: Covenant marketing.

On the heels of a new trailerwhich strongly hinted at the fate of Prometheus survivor Elizabeth Shaw, the film's official Twitter account has shared the following image, which appears to be an x-ray of Katherine Waterson's lead character with a damn alien sitting in her chest, waiting to burst into the world.

There's always a chance this is just for effect and things won't actually play out this way in the movie, but honestly, we wouldn't be surprised. What do you guys think? Sound off below.
“Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the ‘synthetic’ David (Michael Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.”

'Alien: Covenant' Image References 1979 Film With Chilling Quote

One of the biggest selling points of the highly anticipated Alien: Covenant is that it promises to bridge the gap between the somewhat confusing prequel Prometheus and Alien, Ridley Scott’s 1979 horror masterpiece. Covenant looks like it’s bursting with connections to that original, and a new image for the film highlights that association with a chilling quote from Alien.
The image, an eerily beautiful send-up to H.R. Giger’s iconic work, appears on the cover of an upcoming special edition of Empire Magazine that’s only going to be delivered to subscribers. Designed by graphic artist Jacey, the cardboard-embossed cover depicts the instantly identifiable xenomorph in profile surrounded by machinery along with a quote from Alien:
“Unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality.”
That line was originally delivered by Ash, the secret android aboard the USCSS Nostromo. As played by Ian Holm, Ash’s mission was to ensure the safe return of the xenomorph that was hunting Ripley and the rest of the crew in order for the Weyland-Yutani Corporation to turn it into a weapon. After the surviving crew discovers his true nature and mission, decapitating him, they ask his milky disembodied head about the alien. He says they can’t kill it.
“You still don’t understand what you’re dealing with, do you?” Ash tells his interrogators. “The perfect organism. Its structural perfection is matched only by its hostility.”
“You admire it,” Veronica Cartwright’s Joan Lambert fires back.
“I admire its purity. A survivor … unclouded by conscience, remorse, or delusions of morality,” he responds, shortly before the crew finishes the job of destroying him.
As far as anyone can tell, Ash isn’t in Alien: Covenant. But, two other androids, David and Walter (both played by Michael Fassbender) will be. And, David, at least, is already a big fan of xenomorphs. Advance footage reveals that he created the alien from the original.
The Alien: Covenant alien is going to be deadly, but it seems like the sycophantic androids of the series are just as scary.

New ALIEN: COVENANT Images Feature David, A Neomorph, And A Potentially Huge SPOILER

Here we have three brand new stills from Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant, one of which might just reveal what became of the mysterious Engineers that were introduced in the last movie...

Empire Magazine has now officially released the new Alien: Covenant images from their latest issue, and they come with a bit of gore and a potentially major spoiler.

The first pic features a mysterious figure (we're going to assume it's actually Michael Fassbender's David from Prometheus) unleashing a swarm of pods onto The Engineers' home planet. We're not sure exactly what outcome that's going to have, but it can't be anything good for the giant, pale baldies.

The next still gives us another glimpse of David, this time alongside Peter Weyland, and finally, we see one of the terrifying Neomorphs chowing down on a hapless Covenant crew member.

Alien: Covenant stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Demien Bichir and Danny McBride, and is set to hit theaters on May 19, 2017.

Michael Fassbender Reveals The Differences Between His Covenant and Prometheus Characters

In the upcoming Alien: Covenant, the sequel to the Alien prequel Prometheus, Michael Fassbender will be reprising his role as David, the scheming android with some suspiciously human emotions. Fassbender is too good to be playing just one robot though, and he is actually playing one other android character in the film, named Walter. We've actually seen far more of Walter than David in the promotional materials, but it's pretty easy to mix the two of them up. In the actual movie, however, the two will have very distinct personalities to help set them apart, according to Fassbender...

I wanted Walter to be more Spock-like --- devoid of human characteristics or emotional contents that are programmed into David. I want him more like a blank canvas one can project things upon.
Alien: Covenant is one of the hot summer movies coming out this year, as Ridley Scott introduces what seems to be the origin of the Xenomorphs and the extremely unlucky crew of explorers that finds them. Among that crew will be Walter, the android of the ship (it wouldn't be an Alien movie without one). Michael Fassbender once again gets his robot on in the film and he tells Entertainment Weekly that he approached Walter very differently from his portrayal of David in Prometheus. Walter is more "Spock-like" and devoid of those pesky human emotions that drove David down a pretty dark path.

Viewers will remember that although David was created by humans to serve them, they also added some emotions to his programming, which usually turns out to be a bad decision. Though David was ultimately acting out the orders of his master Weyland (Guy Pearce), he had a sick amount of fascination with the devastation caused by his experiments with some black ooze on the crew -- experiments that eventually led to the creation of a Xenomorph. Apparently, the Weyland Corporation learned its lesson and designed the Walter model with fewer emotions in order to not creep out their customers.

It's not exactly known what David has been up to all these years since the events of Prometheus, but it doesn't look to be anything good. Rumor has it that David has continued his experiments, using the whole population of a planet as his focus group. If he does eventually come face to face with Walter, one would imagine that he won't be a very good influence.

Alien: Covenant is directed by Ridley Scott and follows the crew of the Covenant as they embark on a mission to colonize an uncharted planet. They soon find that the planet isn't as uninhabited as they think and soon find themselves prey to a horrible monster.

ALIEN: COVENANT Prologue Reveals What Happened To Dr. Elizabeth Shaw & David After PROMETHEUS

20th Century Fox has released a new 3-minute prologue for Alien: Covenant that finally reveals what became of Dr. Elizabeth Shaw and David after the events of Prometheus. Come take a look!

While it has been known for some time that Michael Fassbender's android David would be taking on a more villainous role in Alien: Covenant (as he would be the one responsible for unleashing the alien liquid on the Engineer's homeworld), what's remained a mystery is what became of his human savior, Dr. Elizabeth Shaw, played by Noomi Rapace.

As part of their Alien Day festivities, 20th Century Fox has released a new prologue for the Ridley Scott-directed film, which reveals exactly happened to the duo after they narrowly escaped LV-223. The nearly 3-minute clip isn't particularly revealing in regards to the film's plot, but we do learn how David regained his body as well as how Shaw may ultimately factor into the new movie.

Check out the new prologue, titled "The Crossing," below:

Do Alien: Covenant's New Funko Pop Toys Give Away A Spoiler?

The following story contains potential SPOILERS for Alien: Covenant. Read at your own risk.

Movie spoilers can come from literally anywhere, but more and more, they seem to be coming from the area of toys and collectibles. These items need to be produced well in advance of the film in order to be available alongside the project and that often means that the creators need information about the movie that isn't publicly available. Such is the case with the new Funko Pop line being released for Ridley Scott's Alien: Covenant. The model designed for Billy Crudup's character Oram would seem to imply that the ship's captain may not survive very far into the new film. Check it out.

In the first trailers for Alien: Covenant we see Billy Crudup investigating the pods that the alien eggs hatch in, just before one of the creatures leaps up and goes for his face. However, it's one thing to show that a character is going to have to deal with a face hugger, and quite another to make that the central focus of his toy. With the face hugger attached to Orem on the Funko Pop toy, and even on the image on the box, it's clear that these two life forms are strongly linked in the film. We assumed that Billy Crudup would probably survive for at least a significant period of Alien: Covenant, he's one of the bigger names in the film, but now it would appear that's probably not the case.

Alien: Covenant has a significantly larger cast than your average Alien movie. The premise of the story is that several couples are making the journey to a new planet in order to colonize it. Of course, since this is an Alien movie, more people really just means more victims. We're not expecting many people to survive the new film, in fact, since Covenant is a prequel story, and we know nothing about any of these characters in the later movies, it's possible Alien: Covenant could go the same route as Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and kill off literally everybody.

This isn't the first time that toys have given away aspects of movies. The toy line designed for the new Ghostbusters movie revealed how that movie would end before it ever came out. Funko Pop themselves have been guilty of spilling the beans before, as they advertised a Giant Man figure as part of their Captain America: Civil War collection and gave away one of the most exciting parts of that film. This isn't quite the same level of spoiler as those, but it does imply that the scene of Billy Crudup's character being attacked may be the last time we see his face.

So in David's time on the ship, did he devise a plan to unlease their own weapon against them?! God I can't wait to see this.

Saw it. Was a bit disappointed by it. Expanded on the story but spent way too much time focusing on David, less so on the Aliens.

Read the KCstars review of it today. Sounds like everything I hated about Prometheus is in this is as well. So that sucks, may wait for it to come out to BR before I see it now.

This is what I've garnered from reviews I've read.

I actually really liked Prometheus. My favorite after Aliens. Bummer to hear it's not that great.
