I would imagine there are shops looking for apprentices. We have people coming from out of town to work. 5 year paid apprenticeship. First year apprentices should be a little over $19.00/hr starting in June. It's a bit of a process to apply, so if you have questions feel free to message me.

My brother in law was just telling me about this, this afternoon. Lots of apprenticeships are open

I would imagine so. I know of several shops are are looking for 30+ MORE guys right now. So i'd guess you'll get a couple of apprentices in there as well.

I work on the building trades side, but service plumbing is becoming more and more popular. Here is a list of good shops I would recommend. When you go "apply" at the school you'll get a list of contractors who are looking to hire.

10000 baby boomers are retiring every day. All industries are starting to see issues like this.

The airlines cannot hire enough commercial pilots to replace the current fleet of pilots who have started to be forced into retirement due to aging out.

This is also what happens when "everyone needs a degree" to make a nice living.

There is a lot of new construction in KC right now. Lots of hospital work to be done. There is a lot of old piping that's getting replaced in remodels though. All of the clay tile pipe put in 50+ years ago is trashed now.

Yep. I'm glad I went to college, but if I had went into the trade right out of high school I'd be making close to six figures right now. Lots of money to be made in skill trades.

Am I reading correctly on the website, that you've gotta go in on the first Monday of the month to apply? After looking into this a bit more today, it really sounds promising. Me and a buddy are both looking to sign up.

so you put in 20 years there is still a union retirement pension right? or are they switching to 401k like all the rest of the private sector?
