EDC Purchase - KCSR

I just ordered a new EDC knife. My Kershaw Funxion EMT isn't holding an edge very well and isn't suited to the angles of my Spyderco Sharpmaker. So I picked up a Spyderco Resilience on the cheap. It arrives tomorrow. I hope to get accustomed to the brand and be able to get a higher end knife from them soon.

Nice. I just picked up an Endura4. It's weird going from my assisted opening Kershaw Leek to the Endura. I will say I like blade much better though. I wish I would have got something with G10 scales though.

I have an assisted Kershaw Funxion EMT, I wonder how I will get sued to the thumb hole on the Spyderco. Based on all the positive feedback online, I am optomistic. The G10 handles was one of the reasons I wanted the resilience. One day I'll step up more!

I just picked up my first Benchmade a few weeks ago. Mini Barrage. I like it and it is a bit smaller than most of my other EDC knives.

Freaking UPS won't go down my street. Ordered Jan, 31, and it still isn't here! I've jumped down Amazon and UPS throats! Two day delivery should not be promised regardless of weather!

Glad to see you stepping in to these kinds of knives. The Kershaw stuff is a good starting point, but you just leveled up.

Here I am practice flipping. While this thing is big, it's quite simple to maneuver. Man is it ever solid. For 40 bucks I cannot believe the quality. Wow, future knives will be Spyderco for me!

So Bummed. I posted this on facebook, not sure who all saw it.

I was in Chicago on Friday doing some sign and wayfinding sketches for KPMG. I finished my sketches at 6:30pm. I was in a hurry trying to make my 8:45 flight. The airport was 30 minutes away so I felt good ordering the cab at 6:30 and them saying they would be there by 7:00. At 7:10 they hadn't arrived. I called and they said 5-10 more minutes. I called again at 7:25. They arrived at 7:45. I got to the airport at 8:15. When checking in they said I was too late to check my bags. No biggie unless I hadn't brought my new Spyderco knife with me.

So, my choice was miss my flight, spend the night and try to fly out the next day, with the potential to have to buy another ticket. I figured a hotel would be 100-150 bucks so sadly I opened my bag and allowed them to confiscate my knife, cologne, and shampoo, toothpaste and hair gel. I got on the flight after learning that it was delayed by an hour.

Then I got home to learn that when Joel borrowed my car and Josh was driving it home, the cooling fan exploded thru the shroud, into the radiator and up into the hood. I was soo bummed. So while in denial, Joel showed up with a trunk full of parts and Josh joined us and we put a new fan and radiator in the BMW.

I am still bummed I had to give up my knife but so pleased that I have two awesome sons that got my car back on the road.

And hey, ... In Chicago a TSA agent has a shiny new Spyderco knife!

OOOooo. That sucks.

About 7 years ago my wife and I were flying out of Austin and I put a knife in my wife's bag as she was going to check it. I went through security and then I see her bail on the baggage check wait and just go through security. She then remembers the knife and turns around and tells the security guy that she forgot that she was packing her husbands knife. The security guy asks her how big it is and she gestures about 8" from hand to hand. He then told her "just don't tell anyone" and away we went.
