The Chiefs place Steve Nelson on IR with a designation to return, creating a spot for Spiller.

Chiefs adding RB Akeem Hunt to the practice squad

Have fun with this one NFL announcers: Akeem Hunt is joining the Kansas City Chiefs practice squad after the Houston texans cut him. Not Kareem Hunt, the Chiefs rookie running back ... Akeem Hunt. This news comes from Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle.

I saw that Hunt was cut over the weekend and I remembered the name. So I went and looked it up and the Chiefs had interest in him before the 2015 draft and again in 2016 the Chiefs reportedly offered him a spot on their practice squad but he chose Houston.
This gives the Chiefs another back on the team in case there is an injury to Kareem Hunt, CJ Spiller or Charcandrick West. Here’s a pre-draft profile on him. He has 37 carries for 205 yards in his career, which is a solid 5.5 yards per carry average. There’s some upside here.
The Chiefs have only officially announced eight members of the practice squad. There have been reporters that they have added other players to reach the maximum of 10 players. They’ll need to sort out who is in and who is off their practice squad.

The Chiefs also reached an injury settlement with CB J.R. Nelson, waiving him from the team's injured reserve list.

Chiefs officially sign Taurean Nixon to practice squad, per NFL transaction report. Release RB Devine Redding to clear space.

This is the Chiefs injury report :

Doubtful: G Parker Ehinger (knee), LB Reggie Ragland (knee)

Questionable: S Ron Parker (ankle)

Only reason I could see them cutting people is to call up somebody from the practice squad but it's odd because the Chiefs only have two RB's on the roster : Hunt and West (and Sherman in an emergency). Maybe Hill or Thomas will see (more) plays out of the backfield?

It seems odd to enter a game with only 2 RB's and one being a rookie.

Maybe don't want to guarentee CJ Spillers contract for the year? Would seem silly since he is making the Vet minimum of $615k.

Only thing being run off the field is the opinion of Alex Smith being a game manager.

Over 500 yards total offense....

This offense looks explosive. Hopefully Berry will be back before the season ends but I doubt it :/

AMEN fucking win in the impossible situation.

Berry/Hill injuries could be huge..

Refs were sooooo unfair it hurt. Almost ruined the game for me.

Chiefs have a good shot this year at playoffs again, for sure.

I think the refs were pretty decent on Defensive Pass interference but it was crazy how I didn't hear them call holding on the Patriots O-Line when it was clear Logan was blasting through the middle and being mugged.

Yep.. I don't think the penalties were called on BS situations... I just think they weren't calling them on both teams.

Hill was just having severe cramps. He's gonna be fine.
