Default GODZILLA VS. KONG

THE GUEST Director Adam Wingard Signs On To Helm GODZILLA VS. KONG For Warner Bros. And Legendary

Warner Bros. and Legendary Entertainment's upcoming Godzilla VS. Kong movie finally has its director, as Adam Wingard has now signed on to orchestrate the clash of the iconic monsters...

When the undisputed kings of the monsters finally duke it out in 2020, Adam Wingard will be standing behind the camera. According to THR, the fan-favorite director of The Guest, You're Next and the upcoming Death Note movie has signed on to helm Godzilla VS. Kong for Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures.

While we wait for Kong to grow a few hundred feet, we'll catch up with the gigantic sea beast again in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, which will star Kyle Chandler, Vera Farmiga and Millie Bobby Brown. Though we'll almost certainly get a direct sequel to this year's Kong: Skull Island too at some point, that'll most likely be after the events of Wingard's film.

Plot details are under wraps for now, but don't be surprised if Kong and 'Zilla eventually team up to take on some other monsters once they've kicked the crap out of each other for a while.

Pirates of the Caribbean scribe Terry Rossio leads the writers room that's currently working on the script, which also includes Patrick McKay and J.D. Payne (Star Trek Beyond), Lindsey Beer, Cat Vasko, Maze Runner movies writer T.S. Nowlin, Jack Paglen (Transcendence), and Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski.

Adam Wingard Hopes 'Godzilla vs. Kong' Will Make Fans Cry

You might not think of Godzilla and Kong as emotional characters, but Adam Wingard is going to try and change all that.
Wingard is in charge of the big monster showdown Godzilla vs Kong, and as he explained to ScreenCrush, he's aiming to deliver a little something different.
"Some of those Godzilla movies I haven’t seen since I was a kid so revisiting them was a lot of fun. To be able to almost go back in time and re-experience what that was like – I was able to directly empathize with that feeling when I really felt like, maybe Godzilla really is going to lose in this movie. That was really important because it helped me remember, going forward on [Godzilla vs. King Kong], the kind of feelings people are going to have when they watch it."
Wingard wants audiences to really empathize with these creatures, just as they would with anyone else.
"That’s what I want to do, I really want you to take those characters seriously. I want you to be emotionally invested, not just in the human characters, but actually in the monsters. If I had my way, I want people to really be teary-eyed at the end of the movie, and be that invested into what’s going on."
One of the best parts of Kong: Skull Island was that very concept. Without a line of dialogue, Kong was able to become a full fledged character, despite the fantastical circumstances and surroundings.
That said, there will be plenty of action to go around.
"It’s a massive monster brawl movie. There’s lots of monsters going crazy on each other, but at the end of the day I want there to be an emotional drive to it. I want you to be emotionally invested in them. I think that’s what’s going to make it really cool."

How Kong Will Be Different In Godzilla Vs. Kong

After Marvel broke changed the world of film with the MCU, it seems that shared universes are popping up just about everywhere. One of the more recent ones is the MonsterVerse, which got its kickstart with 2014's Godzilla and the recent blockbuster Kong: Skull Island. The two iconic creatures are set to meet face to face when Godzilla vs. Kong arrives in theaters in 2020, and it turns out that both of them will be going through some changes before they crossover. And for King Kong, said changes are going to be pretty serious, especially since there will be a sizable time gap between his two appearances. After all, Skull Island was set in the 70s.

Director Adam Wingard will be helming Godzilla vs. Kong, and he recently revealed how the years have changed the protector of Skull Island. He said,

Ours is more in continuity with the sequel to Godzilla right now. They're doing Godzilla 2 with Mike Dougherty directing, so our film is in present day. We have a couple characters from Godzilla 2 in ours, but it'll be interesting to see how Kong has fared over the years. You see him in that film and he's just constantly under attack. Things are going wrong and there's probably been lots of human intervention since then. It'll be interesting to see a more rugged, a bit more aged Kong in this film.
This poor guy can't catch a break. Looks like we'll see an older and more battle worn Kong when he finally battles Godzilla, and it should be pretty awesome.

Adam Wingard's statement to Slash Film are exciting for a few reasons. But perhaps the most relieving is that the MonsterVerse seems to really be planning things out in advance. Rather than flying off the cuff a la the DC Extended Universe, there is a clear game plan informing the development of future films.

Besides the logistical concerns, it's exciting to hear how King Kong will be looking and acting so much different than his first appearance on Kong: Skull Island. The film referenced how Kong was not fully grown, so he'll be an even more impressive behemoth when he eventually returns to the silver screen. And Kong is going to need the extra strength, as Godzilla's appearance in the 2014 dwarfs the size of Kong. But given a few extra decades to grow, and the two iconic characters may end up being evenly matched.

Alas, we'll have to wait a few more years before we see how big King Kong has actually gotten. Godzilla: King of the Monsters will arrive first in 2019, introducing three beloved characters from the mythos.

GODZILLA VS. KONG Reportedly Adds DEADPOOL 2 Star Julian Dennison In A Supporting Role

Julian Dennison's star continues to rise, as a new report claims the actor will follow up his role in Fox's Deadpool 2 with a role in Legendary Pictures' giant monster showdown film, Godzilla vs Kong...

In 2020, Legendary Pictures will release the epic crossover film Godzilla vs. Kong, which is currently set to be directed by Adam Wingard (The Guest). While that's a ways from now, another actor has joined the cast of what will be the fourth installment in Legendary’s MonsterVerse .

According to ThatHashtagShow, the latest addition to the monster flick is one of the stars of the R-rated hit Deadpool 2, Julian Dennison. The young actor made a name for himself after starring in Taika Waititi’s Hunt for the Wilderpeople, and saw his stardom grow with his role as Firefist in Fox's superhero comedy, a growth that will undoubtedly continue with Godzilla vs. Kong.

There aren’t any specific details on the actor’s role, but it’s said that he will have a supporting role in the film. That said, we do know Dennison will be joining an impressive cast that includes Millie Bobby Brown (Stranger Things), Kyle Chandler (Bloodlines) and possibly Academy Award winner Frances McDormand, who the site claims was offered a role.

GODZILLA VS. KONG Reportedly Adds Oscar Winning THREE BILLBOARDS Star Frances McDormand

The upcoming Godzilla Vs. Kong movie has added some more star power in the form of Frances McDormand, who won the Best Actress Oscar for her performance in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri...

Another scoop from That Hashtag Show here, and this time it's some major casting news relating to Legendary's Godzilla Vs. Kong movie.

According to the site, Academy Award-winner Frances McDormand (Three Billboards, Fargo, Darkman) has joined director Adam Wingard's highly-anticipated Monster-Verse movie in an unspecified role.

Godzilla Vs. Kong is set to stomp into theaters in 2020, and although specific plot details have not been released yet, it's probably safe to say that the story will revolve around two giant monsters kicking the crap out of each other.

BLACK PANTHER Standout Danai Gurira In Early Talks To Join GODZILLA VS. KONG And STAR TREK 4

Hot on the heels of those new Godzilla 2 photos, a new report has revealed that Black Panther star Danai Gurira is in early talks to join Godzilla vs. Kong and may also be up for a role in Star Trek 4!

Deadline is reporting that Legendary and Warner Bros. are currently in the very early stages of negotiations with Black Panther and The Walking Dead breakout Danai Gurira for a leading role in their upcoming MonsterVerse entry, Godzilla vs. Kong.

If/when her deal closes, she'll join a star cast that already features young up-and-comers Millie Bobby Brown (Godzilla: King of the Monsters) and Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2). Adam Wingard (The Guest) is directing with a script from a writers room that consisted of Lindsey Beer, Patrick McKay, T.S. Nowlin, Jack Paglen, John D. Payne, Terry Rossio, J. Michael Straczynski, and Cat Vasko.

Additionally, their report adds that Paramount is also eyeing Gurira for a key role in their next Star Trek film, the tentatively titled Star Trek 4, which has S.J. Clarkson (Marvel's The Defenders) on board to direct, and is expected to bring back Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and Chris Hemsworth as Captain Kirk's father for a time travel-based adventure.

Also, just to clarify, this is a separate project from the R-rated Star Trek film that Quentin Tarantino is concurrently developing.

Godzilla vs Kong Recruits Pirates of the Caribbean VFX Supervisor

While Godzilla vs. Kong is still a few years away, the pre-production continues to move forward as the film has recruited the VFX supervisor from Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Godzilla vs. Kong will pit the two giant beasts against each other in 2020 to see who is the true king of the monsters.

After the success of Gareth Edward's Godzilla in 2014, it was announced that Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros. Entertainment would be coming together in order to build a shared universe called MonsterVerse. Among the most exciting of these future films was the film simply titled Godzilla vs. Kong, since it would see two legendary and unstoppable monsters battling it out to see who was top monster. The film was announced back in 2015, before fans had the tease of the future monster universe at the end of Kong: Skull Island. With as many monsters that are expected to be in the upcoming film, the visual effects department for Godzilla vs. Kong is going to have a daunting task ahead of them.

GWW reports that Zack Fox has been added on to Godzilla vs. Kong as the visual effects supervisor, though it's possible he's been hired as a VFX coordinator instead, based on an IMDb listing. Fox has previously worked on films like Christopher Robin and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which both required a huge amount of visual effects to be added in post-production. Fox has been working in the visual effects field since 2004, when he worked as a visual effects production assistant on Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ.

Godzilla vs. Kong is no doubt going to be relying on the visual and special effects to win over audiences, so it's reassuring that Fox has been brought on since he has a number of film credits under his name. The two giant monsters have previously battled in the 1962 film King Kong vs. Godzilla. Seeing as visual effects have become much more advanced in the past 50 years, the new film can't rely on two guys in costumes to give viewers a good time.

Kong in Kong: Skull Island was the biggest version of Kong any film had seen - and he wasn't done growing either, as is mentioned in that movie. This was likely done so that the battle between Kong and Godzilla will be evenly matched. While King Kong was the winner of the duel back in 1962, each of the monsters has been seen to be a formidable fighter in their new movies.Godzilla vs. Kong isn't coming out until 2020, so fans will likely see more connections to Kong when Godzilla: King of the Monsters premieres next summer.

GODZILLA VS. KONG Casts ATLANTA Star Brian Tyree Henry In A Significant Role

Fresh off an Emmy nomination for Atlanta season two and an upcoming role in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Brian Tyree Henry has been cast in a significant role in Legendary's Godzilla vs. Kong.

Variety is reporting that 2x Primetime Emmy-nominee Brian Tyree Henry has been cast in a leading role in Legendary's Godzilla vs. Kong. Further details were unavailable, but the report does describe his part as significant.

He joins a cast that already features up-and-comers Millie Bobby Brown (Godzilla: King of the Monsters) and Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2). Adam Wingard (The Guest) is directing the fourth installment in the MonsterVerse, which is due out in theaters on May 22, 2020; debuting worldwide almost exactly a year after Michael Dougherty's Godzilla: King of the Monsters hits screens on May 31, 2019.

Plot details remain under lock-and-key on Skull Island for now, but based on the context clues, it's probably safe to say the story will revolve around the two titular monsters throwing down in some fashion.

Henry is best known for his role as Paper Boi on the critically acclaimed FX series Atlanta and his more recent credits include, but are not limited to, Boardwalk Empire, This Is Us, Vice Principals, Hotel Artemis, White Boy Rick, Widows, and If Beale Street Could Talk. He can be heard next in Sony's highly-anticipated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, where he voices Jefferson Davis, and also has The Woman in the Window, Superintelligence, and Child's Play on the docket for next year.

GODZILLA VS. KONG Adds HOLD THE DARK Actor Alexander Skarsgård As A Military Leader

The latest addition to the cast of Adam Wingard's Godzilla Vs. Kong is former True Blood alum Alexander Skarsgård (Big Little Lies, Hold The Dark), who will play the leader of a military unit in the movie.

Adam Wingard's Godzilla Vs. Kong movie has added Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood, Big Little Lies, Hold The Dark) in a leading role.

According to Variety, the in-demand actor will play "the leader of a military unit," but they don't provide any other details on his character.

The plot of this highly anticipated clash between two of cinema's most iconic monsters is still under wraps, but it's a safe enough bet that it will involve Godzilla and King Kong having a bit of a disagreement over something.
Skarsgård joins Julian Dennison, Brian Tyree Henry, Danai Gurira, Demian Bichir and Millie Bobby Brown, whose character will make her debut in next year's Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

Godzilla vs. Kong Casts Eiza González & Rebecca Hall

Eiza González and Rebecca Hall are the latest additions to the cast of You're Next and Blair Witch director Adam Wingard's MonsterVerse crossover movie, Godzilla vs. Kong. The film has already recruited several actors this month alone, including Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta), Demián Bichir (The Nun), and Alexander Skarsgård (Big Little Lies). They're joined here by Julian Dennison (Deadpool 2), who became the first confirmed cast member all the way back in June.

That's a fittingly international ensemble, considering that Godzilla vs. Kong will pit the whole of humanity against the god-like creatures that roam our planet in a fight for survival. The MonsterVerse, as Warner Bros.' Godzilla and King Kong cinematic universe is known, has been building up to this since 2014, beginning with director Gareth Edwards' Godzilla relaunch and continuing on with filmmaker Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Kong: Skull Island in 2017. Both movies established Godzilla and Kong as being essential to maintaining balance in the world, which begs the question: why, exactly, are they going to fight one another?

While the answer to that question will have to wait for another day, there's more Godzilla vs. Kong casting news to discuss in the meantime. Deadline is reporting that González has closed a deal to costar in the film, ahead of the start of principal photography in November. Elsewhere, Variety has learned that Hall will play one of the new leads introduced in the MonsterVerse crossover.

González's previous work includes her leading role on Robert Rodriguez's From Dusk Till Dawn TV series, though more people are probably familiar with her for playing the bubble gum-popping thief "Darling" in Edgar Wright's Baby Driver last year. Hall, for her part, has tended to work on period dramas and indie fare more than franchises, but is far from a stranger to the world of big-budget blockbusters, thanks to her role as scientist Maya Hansen in Iron Man 3.

As impressive as the confirmed Godzilla vs. Kong cast is on-paper, their actual roles in the film are being kept a secret for now. Godzilla and Kong: Skull Island's human rosters featured a mix of military personnel, scientists, and regular civilians, and next year's sequel Godzilla: King of the Monsters appears to include a similar blend of human archetypes (including Millie Bobby Brown as a character who may or may not figure into Godzilla vs. Kong's plot). It stands to reason that Wingard's crossover won't stray too far from that formula either, especially since the monster hunting crypto-zoological agency Monarch is expected to once again play a role in the storyline here. If nothing else, though, we can probably rule out the possibility that González and Hall are playing gigantic monsters themselves. (Then again, you never know...)

'Godzilla vs. Kong' Director Reveals Production Start Date

Godzilla vs. Kong will bring the famous monsters Godzilla and King Kong into battle against each other for the first time in decades, so fans are anxious to see the film as soon as possible.
The wait has now gotten a bit easier as director of the film Adam Winguard revealed that production on the film officially begins this week.
(Photo: Adam Winguard/Instagram)Revealing the announcement on Instagram, Winguard shared a hilarious bit of the storyboards for the film featuring Godzilla's befuddled reaction to something strange (most likely a bit of Kong shenanigans). Stating that they start shooting this week after a year's worth of pre-production, the film has officially kicked into high gear.
Fans have been wanting to see the two famous monsters fight as soon as Legendary confirmed that they shared the same universe. The first tease for the film came toward the end of Kong: Skull Island, which revealed that King Kong was living on the same Earth as Godzilla, Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah (the monsters confirmed to appear in Godzilla: King of the Monsters).

Luckily fans won't have to wait long for the Monsterverse's next film entry. Directed by Michael Dougherty, Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Ken Watanabe, Bradley Whitford, among many other talents. The film is currently scheduled to hit theaters May 31, 2019, with Godzilla vs. Kong scheduled for a 2020 release after.

The synopsis for Godzilla: King of the Monsters reads as such:

"The new story follows the heroic efforts of the cryptozoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient superspecies, thought to be mere myths, rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance."

If you're itching for more Godzilla right now, you can currently find the first two anime films featuring the famous beast stomping on Netflix. The first of the new trilogy, Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters, was released in Japan on November 2017 (and on Netflix domestically in 201. The sequel, Godzilla: City on the Edge of Battle is now on Netflix as well. It features a dark future where the last remaining humans must battle Godzilla, who had been wreaking havoc for 20,000 years.

Godzilla vs. Kong' Director Teases Monarch Ties

Production is starting to gear up for the highly anticipated showdown between Godzilla and King Kong, and director Adam Wingard is teasing the involvement of the shadowy organization Monarch.

Wingard took to social media and posted a mysterious photo of a trailer with the Monarch symbol painted on the side, possibly indicating that the group of monster hunters will play a major role in Godzilla vs. Kong.
The director will be taking the reigns from Gareth Edwards from Godzilla, Jordan Vogt-Roberts from Kong: Skull Island, and Michael Dougherty from the upcoming Godzilla: King of the Monsters. In the first two films, Monarch is presented as a mysterious organization trying to learn more about the giant monsters that have laid dormant for centuries.

They'll come into the spotlight in the sequel to Godzilla, as the title monster will go up against legendary creatures like Rodan, Mothra, and King Ghidorah.

Vogt-Roberts praised fellow director Wingard for his approach to the crossover movie, saying he has a good idea to bring both creatures into conflict.
"Yeah. He’s got plenty of freedom to sort of play around with how he wants and to play around with … I always joke that my Kong was kind of like a character in a Shane Black movie in the sense that he just gets beat the fuck up by the end of the movie," Roberts said to Collider. "He’s just battered and scarred, and so he’s got that kind of reluctant protagonist vibe to him. I think Adam’s willing to take that anime thing and do what he needs to do as he squares off with Godzilla."

While many are looking forward to these two titans' inevitable clash, Godzilla will first have to prove that he is indeed the King of the Monsters in the upcoming sequel set to premiere next year.

"The new story follows the heroic efforts of the cryptozoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three headed King Ghidorah," the synopsis for Godzilla: King of the Monsters reads. "When these ancient superspecies, thought to be mere myths, rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance."

'Godzilla vs Kong' Officially Begins Production

Godzilla has a few months to go before he roars back into theaters, but the monster has his eye on more than its sequel. In 2020, Godzilla and King Kong will meet in an epic crossover, and it seems the massive film just went into production.

Following a series of rumors, Legendary informed fans the reports were true; Godzilla vs. Kong has moved into production ahead of its Summer 2020 release.

“Legends will collide. Production has officially begun on Godzilla vs. Kong. In theaters everywhere Summer 2020,” the studio’s Twitter page confirmed.

Shortly after the official confirmation went up, a reported synopsis surfaced for the flick. You can check out the brief blurb below: (via Godzilla Movies)

“In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.”

New reports have also added film credits to Godzilla vs. Kong. Adam Wingard will be directing the feature as planned, and he will oversee a talented cast including the likes of Millie Bobby Brown, Rebecca Hall, Shun Oguri, Alexander Skarsgard, and many more.

Before this third flick can hit the MonsterVerse, Legendary still has some business to take care of with Godzilla one on one. Next May, the kaiju will lumber back into theaters in the sequel to 2014's Godzilla, and you can check out the full synopsis for Godzilla: King of the Monsters below before it debuts:

"The new story follows the heroic efforts of the cryptozoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient superspecies, thought to be mere myths, rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance."

'Godzilla vs. Kong' Casts Lance Reddick

With production underway on the highly anticipated clash between Godzilla and King Kong, Legendary Pictures has to round out the cast of humans attempting to survive this titanic battle of giant monsters.
Lost, The Wire, and Fringe alum Lance Reddick was recently confirmed to be joining the cast of Adam Wingard's Godzilla vs. Kong, according to a new report from Deadline.

Reddick joins a talented cast that includes Millie Bobby Brown, Alexander Skarsgård, Julian Dennison, Brian Tyree Henry, Kyle Chandler, Jessica Henwick, and Rebecca Hall.
News has been coming at a rapid pace for Godzilla vs. Kong in recent weeks, and a brand new synopsis for the film was just revealed by Legendary:

"In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever."
The new MonsterVerse franchise has been slowly built up in recent years, with only Godzilla and the skullcrawlers being known to the public. Next year's sequel, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, will see the emergence of classic Toho monsters King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan, causing Godzilla to return to defend humanity.

Kong: Skull Island served as a prequel to these events, establishing the shadow organization known as Monarch and their first interactions with the gigantic ape. And though that film did sow the seeds for the upcoming crossover, it still focused on setting Kong up and showing it's not just a raging, mindless monster.
Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts teased that the crossover movie is in good hands, while Godzilla: King of the Monsters director Michael Dougherty said the next film will focus on telling a good story rather than setting up the epic clash.
"It’s not like we’re bending over backwards to introduce Kong, but there’s definitely some bread crumbs," Dougherty told EW. But after the events of Godzilla, society will never be the same.

"The world is reacting to Godzilla in the same way we would react to any other terrifying incident, in that we are overreacting," Dougherty said.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters' Secret Fifth Titan Accidentally Revealed?

One of the secret kaiju in Godzilla: King of the Monsters may have been accidentally revealed. In 2014, Gareth Edwards' Godzilla reboot introduced audiences to a brand-new version of the iconic Toho monster, one that was understandably far removed from the 1998 version that ruined the character's reputation in Hollywood. And while the movie reboot aimed to give viewers a more grounded take on the monster, the film also opened up numerous possibilities for the future.
Shortly after Godzilla released, WB and Legendary announced plans to develop Godzilla's world into a full-fledged shared universe, which has since been officially named the MonsterVerse. One of the first things they did was announce a Godzilla sequel that would include Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah. But before that happened, they opted to expand the franchise with Jordan Vogt-Roberts' Kong: Skull Island, a prequel film that takes place in the 1970s and introduces King Kong. While fans wait to see the two iconic monsters fight in Adam Wingard's Godzilla vs Kong in 2020, they can look forward to seeing several new Titans in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.

In addition to showing off more of Godzilla himself, the second Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer fully unveiled Mothra, Rodan, and Ghidorah. However, the trailer also appeared to have teased two new Titans for the MonsterVerse. While it's unknown who those two new Titans are, specifically, it's been theorized that the crab-legged monster is Kumonga while the monster under the mountain is Anguirus. To make matters interesting, Dougherty revealed in a recent interview with CinemaToday Japan (via Gormaru Island) that Anguirus is one of his favorite monsters. The other two being MechaGodzilla and Biollante.

<img alt="">

Furthermore, in the same interview, Dougherty said that if he could make another Godzilla movie (presumably Godzilla 3?), then he would certainly include Biollante and Gigan. Since we know for sure that one of the two secret Titans in Godzilla 2 isn't MechaGodzilla, and that Dougherty would use Biollante for Godzilla 3, then we can deduce that Anguirus is most likely one of the secret kaiju in the Godzilla: King of the Monsters trailer.
Sure, this doesn't expressly confirm Anguirus for Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but it wouldn't be the first time that a director has said that he or she wanted to use a specific character in their movie, only for that same character to later show up in said movie. (This mostly happens with superhero films, but it's applicable here.) And since that there's already speculation Anguirus is in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, it stands to reason that the iconic monster is appearing in the new film.

Godzilla vs Kong Is Reportedly Unlikely To Change Release Date

  • 0

While Godzilla Vs Kong will definitely be releasing next year, 2020, the rumors of when the film will drop have been changing regularly around the release date of Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Director Adam Wingard, the creative mind behind such horror films as The Guest and Blair Witch, will be mounting this large scale kaiju war between our favorite giant lizard and ape. A recent article from Hollywood outlet Deadline may lead us to believe that the movie won't be moved from its original domestic date of March 13th of next year.
Deadline reported the news that Warner Brothers, while attending the event CineEurope, stated that Godzilla Vs Kong would be releasing internationally on March 11th of next year, leading one to believe that the domestic release would be somewhat close to that. While initial reports stated that the movie may be pushed back a few months, if not much later in the year, this news drop leads us to believe that the release date has not changed.
Godzilla Vs Kong will bring the modern "Legendary" creatures to blows as they seemingly fight for the crown of the "King of the Monsters". Several teasers in the recently released Godzilla film pointed toward Kong making landfall sooner rather than later, with his home of Skull Island being mentioned and the awakening of the Titans clearly having an affect on him.
With Godzilla taking the crown at the end of his latest sequel, the monster king has several Titans living in his kingdom that may back him up against the giant ape. Scylla, MUTO, Titanus Behemoth, and Titanus Methusallah are just a few of the kaiju that knelt to their newfound king following Godzilla defeating King Ghidorah.
(Photo: Legendary Entertainment)Do you think that Godzilla Vs Kong will stick to its release date? Who do you think will win in this titanic clash? Let us know in the comments or feel free to hit me up directly on Twitter @EVComedy to talk all things comics, anime, and kaiju.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters stars Millie Bobby Brown, Vera Farmiga, Sally Hawkins, Kyle Chandler, O'Shea Jackson Jr., Ken Watanabe, Bradley Whitford, among many other talents. The film is officially described as such: "The new story follows the heroic efforts of the cryptozoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient superspecies, thought to be mere myths, rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity's very existence hanging in the balance."

MonsterVerse Reveals Godzilla's New Title After King Of The Monsters

Godzilla: King of the Monsters crowned the iconic kaiju Gojira as the one and only king of the monsters in the MonsterVerse, but it seems he might be getting a new title going into next year's Godzilla vs. Kong. Recently, director Michael Dougherty confirmed that Godzilla was always the "king of the monsters", due to the fact that he had defeated the three-headed dragon Ghidorah in ancient Antarctica. But that title first appeared on TV screens at the end of Gareth Edwards' Godzilla reboot in 2014.
Being the alpha predator in the MonsterVerse - the true king of the monsters - is the ultimate claim, and it's one that will soon be challenged once again in Adam Wingard's Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020. In that film, which is also a follow-up to Jordan Vogt-Roberts' 2017 movie, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla and Kong will fight each other for the first time in several years on the big screen. However, unlike other versus-type of movies, there will be one clear victor in the end.

Leading up to that film, Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures have been slowly updating the Monarch Sciences website, specifically to include information about events that took place - or creatures that appeared - in Godzilla: King of the Monsters. One of the biggest additions has been made to Godzilla himself since he now has a Monarch profile, which he didn't prior to the film's release. Based on his actions in the sequel movie, Monarch now refers to him as the "Ancient Guardian of the Natural World".

Even though this may be a new type of identifier for Godzilla, Monarch still recognizes him as the "king of the monsters", at least according to a portion of his cryptid profile on the Monarch Sciences website. But considering that the U.S. government attempted to kill Godzilla - though they were understandably trying to take down Rodan and Ghidorah at the same time - using the Oxygen Destroyer in Godzilla: King of the Monsters, it's good to see that they've since switched sides. They now accept Dr. Serizawa's stance on Godzilla being an ancient protector.
When Godzilla ultimately battles Kong in the upcoming MonsterVerse movie, they will be fighting for the title of "king of the monsters". But no matter who wins, Godzilla will always be the world's ancient protector (he's saved the world at least three times already), while Kong will still be the king of Skull Island - a place he may soon have to leave in order to even come face to face with Gojira.

GODZILLA VS. KONG Leaked Toys Reveal Some Potentially MAJOR SPOILERS And A New Titan!

Thanks to some leaked toy images which are doing the rounds, we may now have a much better idea of what's going to happen in Godzilla Vs. Kong...not to mention a new monster set to appear in the film!

Godzilla Vs. Kong is supposed to roar into theaters this November, but it's currently unclear whether the Coronavirus pandemic will have any sort of impact on that. We certainly hope not, as this clash of the Titans is something fans of the MonsterVerse have been excited about for a while now.
Very little has been revealed about the movie thus far, of course, but some newly leaked toys for the Kong: Skull Island/Godzilla: King of the Monsters sequel may reveal some fresh plot details.
As you can see below, it looks like King is going to be wielding a formidable looking new club while battling Godzilla, but it's actually Mega Godzilla we're most interested in. An apparent cross between his normal self and MechaGodzilla from the classic Toho films, it looks like the monster will receive some upgrades (possible after being badly injured in some way by Kong).
There's also a new monster called Nozuki, and it's possible that will be Godzilla Vs. Kong's true villain.
Notable by his absence is Mecha-Ghidorah, a creature fans were convinced we would see in this crossover after Godzilla: King of the Monsters' memorable post-credits scene teasing his creation. We'll just have to wait and see whether he appears, but these toys are definitely pretty intriguing...
