![]() Ok I posted before about some charging issues got good clean solid info and fixed it fast. This should be just as easy.
I have the custom harness on my rail and I got to take it out and test it really good a few months back.. Runs amazing, but i could tell it still wasn't quite there yet. After hooking up a temporary switch so I can check codes on the fly, turns out my vtec oil pressure sensor isn't working correctly. I read on another forum(totally unreliable info so idk if its true, correct me if i'm wrong) that there is a 10v power supply to that sensor from the ecu then the signal returns to the ecu to state if you've hit that magical oil pressure number to activate vtec. I ohmed both wires with sensor disconnected(key on, engine off) and both tested as grounds? Should I have done it with the engine on? Does it only supply 10v if its actually fixing to activate vtec and doing its check(meaning it wouldn't have a voltage till xxxx rpm)? I'm guessing d6 is a power wire from the ecu and the sensor is suppose to be ground the signal which tells the ecu all is good? Please correct me if my thinking is wrong. All help is appreciated thanks

![]() The vtec solenoid activates with 12v power.
The pressure switch usually is just a grounded switch. Been so long. Can't remember off the top of my head. The switch closes the circuit once oil pressure is reached. When not enough pressure is there. The switch keeps the circuit open. |

![]() Problem solved.
It is just a simple switch sensor. I thought maybe it was a resistance type sensor. Did a small test on a spare and turned out to be the switch type. Turns out when I did my wiring I had a mishap(because the wires on the engine harness vs the dash harness were different colors). Had the plug grounded on both sides. Runs good now with no cels on(ran for about 10 min). Maybe take it out for a test drive to see how fast she really is this weekend(since it has alot better throttle response now). Might post some videos if I can get it out. Thanks for all your help Is there a build forum? I'd like to put some of this knowledge out there maybe it will motivate someone to do something similar or spark an idea. When I was doing it surprisingly I had a hard time find specific info.

![]() Maybe a blog. The buggy guys aren't too fond of honda swaps and they are really "stuck" on VW engines and power plants.

![]() Oh I know lol. Local buggy shop was really pi**ed that I swapped mine out, just got tired of dumping money into the vw every week and all they could say was "Part of it". Keeping the thing idling from week to week was even a hassle. Had plans to swap it before it blew up so when it did, I was happy to get started.
Anyways just wanted the information easily available for anyone that may wonder into doing something similar. Would like to just save some people time. Swap was not at all difficult. Had a lot of delays from having a lot of trouble finding specific detailed information. Maybe one day I'll put together everything. I figured there was a place on kcsr for something like that.
