Mr. Mathew-Michael Creed (Shawnee Resident according to LLC documents, and graduate of Olathe east) Thought it would be a good idea, to put up peoples mug shots, on a searchable ONLINE map.

Yes online mug shots already exists via our fine governments public websites, however Mr. Creed took this "concept" to a whole new level of "Shady" by finding a loop hole in current laws. IE: there is currently nothing stopping him legally from doing what he does.

What Mr. Creed’s website does is in a short version..... He takes the already public information off the county websites, copies it to his website. Then starts by harassing you with a letter in the mail, letting you know that he has posted your mug shot online, and that he is going to promote it. (He then asks for $199 to remove your information from his website) or else………

If you don't pay Mr. Creed the $199 to remove the information at that point, he will then take it to and even greater level of bad. By then sending all your neighbors letters in the mail with your mug shot and your address letting all of them know about your arrest. After that’s done, he moves onto your place of work.

So you see the trend here.... he will keep spreading your info until your so embarrassed you eventually give in, and pay him the $199 to remove it.

NOW HERE IS THE KICKER,
He doesn't care if you’re innocent, guilty, or never even make it to trial....
HE WANTS you to pay him $199 to remove it from his site.

At least the government has a soul, and when you are found innocent, or expunged, they take your info down off their websites.

Yes, Mr. Creed wants you to believe that he is doing you a "favor" by letting you know criminals in your area. However, what he doesn't want you to know, is that its all about the $$$$, and that its just a big giant game of extortion, that happens to be legal. (because no laws stop people from copying your info off the government websites)

Basically the long and short is…..if you get a DUI, or got booked for forgetting to pay a speeding, or parking ticket.
Thanks to Mr. Creed.... you are now screwed, and are going to have to pay him $199 if you don't feel like having your neibors and co-workers finding out about it.

In the shortest form, Mr. Creed likes airing EVERYONES dirty laundry.....
And wants to make $199 every time he does it.

PSS: Wait till the first person moves into a home that is listed on his site that had an "offender" previously living there. And the people living around you find the website, and think that YOU are the offender.

First, BlabberMouth started on April 13, 2012, and it does take time before word is spread about a new business... however, in my case, the number of hits on my site since Saturday is about 500,000... so I'm sure that people are now aware of my company... all in 3 short days. And I will correct you because my company doesn't send "mailers"- it's a single letter telling someone they have a Profile on my site.

Second, The main purpose of my company is to make the public aware of the criminal actions of others in their neighborhood and their community, NOT to take off Profiles from my site- I HATE that option, but there is such a thing called "Defamation of Character", so by State Law, I have no choice but to offer an option to those who were arrested and are innocent of the charges brought against them to "opt-out" of being featured in our public notifications.

AS A COURTESY TO YOU AND OTHERS WITH MISDEMEANOR AND LESS SERIOUS FELONIES I allow them to remove their full Profile page, or pieces of information from it, no matter the status of their case or whether they are guilty or were found guilty of their charges. TBH- There is no law or rule that says I have to let anyone that's guilty of their charges come off of the site that I own if I don't want to, and I'm perfectly in my legal right to charge someone for destroying something that I spent my time creating. So, consider it a privilege that I'm even offering to take you off my site. I could just up and drop the removal option and go out and spread public knowledge and fact about anyone on my site if I wanted to under my 1st Amendment right (which has been done and challenged by others and prevailed in court). HOWEVER, I have morals and I want to run my company ethically, so I give people a chance to come off the site before we even consider doing a public campaign on them.

Third, NO, I'm not going to go out and BLAST someone just because I feel like it or because they stay up on my site because they didn't send compensation to my company to remove their profile- I'm not an asshole (sure, I might sound like one right now, but I'll get to why I'm writing in this tone in a second). I give people every opportunity and several options to get off of my site (some options are free, and the ones that cost range from $100-$250). BUT if they choose to stay on my site and someone asks us to spread the information on that Profile to the public, then we might spread the information. Again, we're not going to reveal anything just because someone didn't come off my site- I have a lot of factors that go into whether or not I do a public notification on someone.

Lastly, your statement that I blackmail people has no merit and shows me that you either haven't been to my site, or you didn't read the information pages on my site throughly or the letter throughly. Blackmail in the state of Kansas and Missouri, in laymen terms, is trying to get cash from someone by threatening to reveal information about them. I'm not threatening to reveal a damn thing because I already revealed it the second I, or someone that works for me, put up a Profile page with your information, and when we print our envelopes to mail the letters in because we put the mugshot, name, and address of the person smack-dab on the front of the envelope (which I'm sure you're aware of this) so that any person that handles it or views the envelope is made aware that that person was arrested (and that's usually a good 20-30 people, plus the guys at the post office I mail these from LOVE looking at the mugshots, and there's a good 40 people working there too). That is all done before a person is even aware that they are up on my site and before they read any correspondence from me about being on my site and the options available to them to remove their Profile. Hell, some people sat up on my site for over a month before I even sent out my letters, and I had 8,000 hits to my site while the temporary layout was being decided. Does it FEEL like blackmail? It might to you, but the law says that it isn't, and I have spent THOUSANDS of dollars with lawyers to make sure that what I'm doing isn't blackmail, extortion (which, BTW, there are no laws on extortion in Kansas), slander, and a slue of other crimes or accusations that people have and want to throw at me.

Yes, I could save myself the $1.69 it costs to print and mail each letter, but I have morals and felt that people should know their information and address is up on my website, rather than have them find out and be embarrassed because a friend, co-worker, or family member tells them because they did a search on that person's name, or they see a FaceBook post with their mugshot and link to my site. There are straight "mugshot industry/removal" sites that put people up, print them in newspapers that they sell FOR PROFIT in stores, and not even bother telling the person and then charge you over $400 to get your stuff off of one site... God forbid it's up on more than one site! THOSE are the companies that you should question about being "legit". I could charge a LOT more to let people come off my site, but as I'm NOT out to "line my pockets" and get "phat wads of cash", and I understand that most people in today's economy DON'T have a ton of extra cash laying around, I chose to set my price to simply cover my costs. If you would rather me not take the time to manually fold, stuff, and stamp over 1,000 letters per week to those on my site, OR if you think I'm being too nice for sending out these letters, please let me know, because I spend well over $1,500 per week in postage and printing costs to mail those letters and I had to ignore my 2-year-old son and listen to him cry for my attention for 2 days to do that, just so I could give you an opportunity to salvage what you can of your reputation. Hell, that money could be given to my employees as raises because they all work their ass off for me and put up with a LOT of pissed off people calling up and cussing them out and threatening them (which in itself is a crime) simply because they jump to the conclusion that I'm "blackmailing" them.

In conclusion, Nightmare, my tone in this post is as such because it's obvious that you want to talk trash about my company, and it's apparent that you either don't understand what our purpose is and are deciding to not take us seriously.

So, Nightmare, is BlabberMouth Kansas City legit?

RedMaro was also right- when I was researching a GIANT spike in traffic to my site, I wanted to know where all the traffic was coming from, I found out it was right here and another message board. Since I was already fuming from a couple of calls of people just screaming in my ear and having someone . I'm sure there's more than one business owner in this forum, and when someone talks badly about your business, you more than likely will immediately get defensive because that's what your passion is.

QUIK- I love the free removal options myself. Eventually, that IS going to be the ONLY way to come off the site, and I have other free ways of coming off being lined up. THAT is what I believe in, and once my attorneys finish up the work behind the scenes, I'm going to implement that immediately and the option to pay will come down. The ONLY reason the pay option is there is for innocent people, and I will give them their cash back once they are innocent. THAT part of charging is no different than www.bustedonline.com, www.kansascitymugs.com and the other sites that do it strictly for the cash and keep it, no matter if the person is innocent or guilty. Do I think it's wrong? Hell yes, but unless the Defamation of Character laws in this State get changed overnight, then I have to do it this wish. FYI- only those CONVICTED of their crimes are eligible for public notifications if they're still up on the site.

Just because the business is set up the way it is now, doesn't mean that I'm going to leave it that way. Once I roll out a couple of my other services that DON'T involve "paying to come off the site" and my other Free removal options are implemented, then I'm removing the pay option all together, and someone will have to wait until they're found innocent of their charges, the charges are dropped, or do one of the current "Free" options to come down.

Well, he is in the same business as Blabbermouthkc.com and PayPal would not refuse an easy fee if they felt their was exposure much greater than the money. Owner shuts down Blabbermouthkc.com, citing huge backlash

A website that published addresses and photographs of people arrested in Johnson County and offered to remove the embarrassing information for a fee shut down Thursday after a massive backlash.

Matthew Creed of Shawnee said the site would remain down indefinitely. He said he was working with possible investors and might restart it with a different focus and different name.

Creed, 30, said he received death threats and had to relocate his family, which includes two small children, after news spread about his website. Many people objected to his business concept and thought he was trying to profit off people already down on their luck.

“This guy is just a bottom-feeding vulture,” said Jay Norton, a lawyer in Johnson County who had clients featured on the website. “The idea that he was trying to help the community is a total farce.”

Many people also questioned whether the site violated state laws. The Johnson County District Attorney’s office said Thursday it still was investigating.

When Creed started the site, Blabbermouthkc.com, in May, he said he thought he had found a legal way to publish mugshots and ask arrestees for up to $199.99 to delete the information. He sent letters to dozens of people arrested in May and June in envelopes with their mugshots printed on the outside next to the words: “We know …”

The letters congratulated recipients on their recent release from jail and noted their arrests were “obviously embarrassing to you and your family.”

“We have already started blabbing to the world about your release from jail, and we want to make you aware of our services, as we kind of have a big mouth,” the letters said.

If the recipients didn’t pay up, they risked having their neighborhoods flooded with fliers about their arrests, his letter said. The so-called “blitz notification” would be triggered by a request from the public. No fliers were ever distributed.

He said he thought the system was workable but wondered whether people would gripe about it too much.

“And people griped about it way too much,” he said.

Creed said he knew he was delving into gray areas of the law but thought he remained on the right side of the legal line. If he restarts a similar business, he said he would ensure the model stays “a lot farther away from the line.”

Creed posted a note admitting defeat Thursday on kcsr.org, a local message board. Its members had united against Creed after a member who had been featured on Blabbermouthkc.com posted the letter he received from Creed. The members said they thought Creed’s business model amounted to blackmail.

“You win,” Creed wrote. “I’m sincerely sorry to have pissed so many people off, caused the trouble I did, and for everything else. … Can’t change what’s been done ... the past is the past, and I apologize.”

He also asked kcsr.org’s owner to take down photos and personal information posted by message board members about Creed’s family members who had been arrested. Creed said he didn’t care whether the message board left up the information about his own 2010 DUI arrest, but he asked it not to punish his relatives.

“No hard feelings on my side ... sometimes an initial idea doesn’t pan out and needs to go back to the drawing board, and you guys made me realize that,” he wrote.

Creed said he intended for his website to deter crime by notifying the public about people who got arrested. His site allowed users to click on a map to check on their neighbors.

At one point the site featured more than 900 mugshots of people, most of whom had not been convicted. Many had been arrested for DUI, but some were arrested for failing to show up for court for simple traffic tickets.

One person said that her face was posted on the website after a charge against her had been dropped. The 43-year-old woman said the charge came about after she locked herself out of her home over the Memorial Day weekend and broke a window to get inside. Prior to breaking the window, she pounded on her door to awaken her boyfriend, and the ruckus caused a neighbor to call police.

She was booked into jail for criminal damage to property, but a judge dropped the charge within 12 hours.

Still, her mugshot was posted and remained on the website until this week. She was one of dozens of arrestees who received letters from Creed.

“It really did scare me when I got the letter,” said Stacie, who didn’t want her last name published because she didn’t want to be linked to a criminal act she hadn’t committed. “I thought, ‘I’m being blackmailed.’

“I know these are public record, but he made me feel like some sort of criminal. … I didn’t think it could be legal.”

The letter recipient who posted his letter on kcsr.org said he wasn’t overly concerned about his DUI arrest being publicized. Instead, he was concerned that it felt like he was being blackmailed.

“It didn’t seem like he was doing it for the community,” he said. “I didn’t need someone telling me I messed up. I already knew I messed up.”

As the firestorm about the letters grew, Creed pledged to send retraction letters to clarify that he wasn’t threatening anyone. But Creed never sent any retractions because he did not know everyone who received the first letters, he said Thursday. He said that a hacker corrupted all his files on Tuesday and that he had to buy a new laptop computer.

Creed initially planned to revamp the website to focus only on DUI, drug and sex offenders. He registered his website as a nonprofit organization and removed the neighborhood service, and made other changes. But this week he decided to pull the plug entirely.

He declined to say how many people paid him to remove their personal information. But the map on his website — before it was shut down — indicated people at seven addresses had paid.

Creed said he didn’t make any money off the website. Any funds received went to offset the start-up costs, he said.

He’s now considering a member-based “safety-watch” type website, he said.

“Everything’s up in the air for now,” he said. “There are so many different avenues that this thing can potentially go before I go back and brave the firestorm I did.”

Meanwhile, the owner of kcsr.org, Erik Razdins, remained cautious.

“If it (Creed’s website) truly is down, I think it’s a great victory,” he said.

The FBI has released that between June 2010 and June 2011, there were 11.8 MILLION people admitted to local jails in the United States, of which, 83% were released!! THERE IS LITERALLY 1 ARREST FOR EVERY 5 PEOPLE MADE IN THE U.S. EVERY YEAR!!! Most of these people were able to have their charges reduced by having their charges reduced, or being placed on diversion or probation, while others simply plead guilty. By doing this, these criminals simply had to do what they were ordered to do by the judge, submit to random drug tests, and their problem would simply "go away"... however, the majority of these individuals go on to be Second, Third and even Fourth-Time Offenders because they were allowed to continue with their wreck-less behavior and no lesson was learned from their experience with the Criminal Justice System.

Is this type of "punishment" likely to deter someone from going out and getting behind the wheel intoxicated again? Probably not... so that's where we step in! I think it's the way he came in with his first two posts being so defensive and generally angry. If he had made an introduction thread and better explained how is business works I don't think he would get the reaction that he has so far. It's not too late for him to turn this around but his attitude needs to be changed if he wants people to take him seriously.

His first post and our first impression of him is him calling out one of our members and ASSuming he was arrested and the way he did came off as him being an asshat.
