May depend what state you are registered in, but it looks like 20% or darker so yes, it probably is.

I have 20% all the way around on my '04 Silverado, no problems so far.

If you have 20% on your windows I wouldnt even worry about being pulled over for tint. Ive ran 20% for years on a couple of my cars, got pulled over the other night for my tag light being out on my civic, and the st trooper didnt even mention tint.

Granted this may be something more exclusive to you folks in or closer around the kc metro area, and I was outside of emporia where my encounter occurred, but the only time Ive encountered tint trouble was when I was younger, a little more stubborn, and thought 5% tint was cool. I also got more than enough tickets for it that I also paid. Im also aware that the judgement call on this will differ from one cop to another, Ive been all over kc at least 2 dozen times with this vehicle though and havent even been tailed by one cop anywhere in the kc metro.

06G35, do you have a really dark interior color? I know from experience that will alter the appearance of how dark your tint is too..

I was pulled over twice in my Accord for tint (Had 20% and black interior). Paid $97 for the first time, and i lucked out the second time. Cop didn't have his tint meter. It was in Olathe.

I guess I have 15. lol

I got stopped the other night at 11:45, for going 10 over, and was given a second ticket for window tint.

I bought the car with 15, in MO and it passed the inspection, kinda seems shitty that they didnt tell me when they inspected the car that the tint was illegal. :/

$105 in Mission Valley.

Correct cars can pass an MVI now even if the tint is illegal.

I know when I had my MVI license, we never had access to a meter, nor were we instructed to judge whether tint was "legal."

Where the hell have you been hiding?

I know this is an old thread and probably does't matter now, but Missouri law states the the driver and passenger's front windows cannot be darker than 35%. The windshield cannot be tinted at all, and the back ones can be as dark as you want. And no, most cops don't even have tint meters. And as far as imposing tint laws on cars registered out of state, the cop in the jurisdiction you are in has to know the law for the state that the vehicle is registered in. They cannot write a ticket for their tint laws if it is an out of state vehicle, but if it violates the law in the state you are from, they can write you.

If the state your vehicle is registered in requires certain equipent or for the vehicle to be in a certain condition to be licensed in that state, and you fail to maintain the equipment or condition, the operator can be issued a citation for failing to do so. Say your vehicle is registered in New York, which requires a license plate on the front and back of the vehicle. If a kansas city officer notices that said vehicle is only displaying a rear license plate and knows that New York requires a front one as well, they CAN write you for it.

provide proof of that please.... there is no way a cop from another state can enforce out of state rules... i just dont see how thats lawful. maybe i am wrong.. but if i am wrong then so be it but i wanna see proof that they can do that.

Just because I started this post ages ago...
Your car having an out of state temp tags does not make your Window tint legal.
You buy a car with illegal tint, it doesnt make it legal for you to leave it on.
You can be allowed to peel illegal tint off on the side of the road.
You can have your car impounded for illegal tint if it is deemed unsafe to drive...ie 5% tint at night.

Yes there are officers who will write you for 27% and darker.

If you have had illegal tint for years and finally get stopped for it the way to make sure to get a ticket is to say..." But I have had it for years and never got stopped before!!" It is just like saying "I have been speeding on this road for years and never got a ticket for it!!"

If you have an accident and someone is hurt or killed your illegal window tint WILL be used against you in a court of law and even if it wasnt your fault can result in you being found at fault. Same as speed or texting.

It should if the tint levels are legal in the state the temp tag is for.

This is old, but gonna clear this up for anyone who is reading this and thinking Ah hah!

This is completely false. United States v. Trestyn, 2011 U.S. App. (10th Cir. 2011). A vehicle must follow the rules of law within the state the vehicle was in. IE: Kansas vehicles can be pulled over in MO for no front plate, regardless of what Kansas says or does and can be written a ticket for it. When entering a state, you must follow all their rules. Rules from the state your vehicle is registered in does not matter.

Additionally, the front windshield can be tinted only as far to the ASI line on the top.
