Well I'm getting the watch bug again and see that you guys have been active in here. I'm thinking pilot automatic. Anyone have any good insight on Praesto vs. Lum Tec B17/B1?

I have had this watch for a while now. I'm not a very flashy person so I decided to keep it low profile with this watch. I was going to purchase a Citizen but decided I liked this one a little better for every day wear.

I'm a young guy in comparison to all of you mid-25ers, so yes, it's just a Seiko.

I am looking at getting my first nice watch. I am looking at spending about $300 to $500 I have three I am been looking at I will list them below. Any ideas on the what I am looking at or any other ideas would be appreciated. Thanks guys

http://www.citizenwatch.com/en-us/wa...del=BL8000-03A

http://www.citizenwatch.com/en-us/wa...del=BU0030-00A

http://www.bulova.com/en_us/watch/bu...hanical/96A118

I am leaning toward the Bulova at this point.

Also any ideas on who to go to in regards to actually purchasing a watch?

Vetter I personally hate any and all Bulova's. Are you opposed to getting a watch that is pre-loved? I will help you out however, I can man. I know the watch buyers at Tivol(Briarcliff) and Meriorttos.

http://www.citizenwatch.com/en-us/wa...del=BL8000-03A

Is by far my favorite but there are A LOT of watches that can be had for that price range. If you aren't already get on L4P. They have a great watch forum and it taught me a lot, well that and Wes.

There used to be a thread that I can't seem to find right now that was I have XXX to spend, what should I buy. Check out some of the pre-owned stuff on there you'd be surprised.

This is a little bit more but as an idea:

Drew I dont have your number anymore PM me your number or text me if you still have mine.

What are your problems with Bulova's?

Also I have to get smaller watches nothing really bigger than 42 mm as I have small girl wrists so the one that you post from luxury4play would look massive on me.

You could probably squeeze into a Hamilton in that price range (probably used). Citizen would be my next choice if I wanted new.

Good Looking out!!!
I was looking at the Jazzmasters and I love the look. Is 600 a good price on that watch? I really would like to keep the price down closer to 500 but if its worth the price I don't usually mind paying a little extra.

Seems to be about half of what they are new

You would have to consider previous wear and condition and decide if it's a good price for you. Maybe contact the seller for more pics/info. Shoot him a lower offer and see if he'll deal.

If anyone is interested in a higher end watch, holler at me. I am considering selling one in the near future.

Go for it man. My wife bought me the B3 (I think) when we had our kid 2 years ago. I thought it was neat online, but doubted I would ever wear it. It actually gets a lot more wear time than I thought it would.

Did you just rock the NATO straps or did you get something else? I'm more into bracelets than straps so I'm kinda worried It'll get 'meh' on me because of that. Also, although the look of it and the movement are pretty sweet ass, I'm wondering how versatile the combat look will be. In this price range I'm looking for something that can be worn day to day, but also something that will work well with dress up attire (mostly casual dress up.)

edit: I just found the M22............. I'm gonna turn off my computer for a while now.

I have the nato strap on it. I wear it mainly with casual dress, when I am wearing black (shirt, shoes, etc.) and it works well. The only downside to the nato straps, is that the black on the rings can scrape off after awhile. I have got a lot of positive feedback on that watch, even more than a few that cost 5-10x's more. It definitely stands out as something different to a watch guy.

Just ordered my SC B2 for about 45% off through http://thecgacompany.com/

FYI to anyone who's interested, they have all their watches 30% off and then you can search google for discount codes from retailmenot and get another 15%. Lum Tec, Luminox, and a few other tool brands. Might make a great gift?

TheCGA Company is run by Thomas Carey. He is a super cool cat. Check them out. They are currently working on a project where watches are made by disabled veterans and all proceeds go to disabled vets. Very cool guy, check him out.

Having posted my above post, I just received a refund on my order as apparently they are not allowed to discount Lum Tec. Soooooooooo disregard.

Thomas is working with me to come to some sort of agreement, but it's not going to be close to 45% : /

Kind of annoying since the order was processed and the charge was applied to my card.

Thomas used to be really close with Chris at Lum-Tec, I don't know what happened but Lum-Tec got really big and I am not sure they are so close. Thomas is a good cat though, I promise he will do you right and take excellent care of you. Outside of Geoff he is the only other person I ask about watches.

he took care of it for the most part. i got a smaller discount and in all honesty, i don't know if i would've pulled the trigger initially at that price. but i think it was still a better price and a bigger discount than i will ever find (new) so it's still a great deal.

and i got a free lt shirt out of it
