VENOM: Oscar Nominated Actress Michelle Williams In Talks To Join Tom Hardy In Key Role

The already impressive cast of Venom just got even better as Michelle Williams (Manchester by the Sea) has joined the Marvel movie in a key role. Who's she playing? You can find that out after the jump!

Exciting news for Sony's long-delayed Venom movie has once again found its way online today as it's been revealed that Michelle Williams (Oz the Great and Powerful) is in talks to join Tom Hardy (Mad Max: Fury Road) in the Marvel movie. She also joins Riz Ahmed (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), a character many fans believe could be playing Carnage. That hasn't been confirmed yet, though!

As for Williams, Variety notes that the plan is for her to star as a district attorney and possibly Hardy's love interest. Chances are that's Anne Weying, Eddie Brock's wife in the comics (where she was portrayed as a successful lawyer). She also bonds with the Venom symbiote but ultimately took her life.

Ruben Fleischer is directing Venom and the director has reportedly met with a number of actresses over the past month before production begins in October. Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji) and Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower) wrote the script and a release date of October 5th, 2018 has been set. How do you guys feel about this casting news? Let us know your thoughts on that in the comments section.

VENOM Adds THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE Actress Jenny Slate In A Mysterious Scientist Role

The latest addition to the already very impressive cast of Sony Pictures' upcoming Venom movie is actress/comedian Jenny Slate, who has entered negotiations for a key role. More details after the jump...

We recently found out that Michelle Williams had joined the cast of Sony's Venom movie, and now Variety reports that Jenny Slate (Parks and Recreation, Obvious Child, The Lego Batman Movie) is also in talks to come aboard the Spider-Man spinoff.

The trade doesn't specify which character she'll play, but does mention that she's a scientist. Established Marvel Comics scientist or someone created just for the movie? Only time will tell.

Zombieland's Ruben Fleischer is directing the movie, which will star Tom Hardy in the lead role of Eddie Brock. Riz Ahmed has also been confirmed, though who he'll be playing remains a mystery. Apparently, an actor is still being sought to portray Carnage.

Venom is set to open Oct. 5, 2018.

‘Venom’ Script Being Done By ‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Screenwriter

In case you are considering Venom to be just another comic book film then you must rethink. The film is set to be far racier than you might have thought. Why do we say that? Because the film is being written by the person, who wrote Fifty Shades of Grey.
The Variety reporter Justin Kroll made fans go berserk when he recently tweeted this update about the movie, “Venom update: Kelly Marcel (50 Shades of Grey) penning latest draft of script.”
The Marvel maniacs were stunned by the news. Venom is considered to be a horror sci-fi movie, and Marvel’s previous films don’t belong to that genre. Before writing Fifty Shades of Grey, Marcel had written for Saving Mr. Banks and a TV series Terra Nova.

If we assume that Variety has reported correctly then it is a surprising selection from Sony Pictures as the writer for Venom, but, it is pleasant too. Marcel would have created a pitch that must have appealed to Sony as the right thing for the movie. Hollywood also needs some top-notch female writers. While fans don’t know Marcel beyond her Fifty Shades of Grey work, they do seem highly interested in what the screenwriter can come up with.
This update about Venom’s script comes shortly after we came to know about the film’s cast. Variety mentioned in an exclusive report about Jenny Slate being considered to join the film. The star will join the illustrated cast comprising Tom Hardy and Riz Ahmed. Earlier we heard, Michelle Williams was being discussed to play the leading lady’s character in Venom.
Venom is being directed by Ruben Fleischer, and the production is set to commence in October. The movie is going to feature in the same Spider-Man shared Marvel Comics Universe that also features Silver and Black, an upcoming Sony film based on Silver Sable and Black Cat. The Venom film is being touted to be a gutsy, darkish and horror-tinged portrayal of the Marvel anti-hero.

Venom is slated to release on October 5, 2018.

'Venom' Adds 'Civil War' & 'Logan' Stunt Coordinators

So far Sony has nabbed Tom Hardy for the titular role in their upcoming Venom flick and the production has reportedly cast Rogue One alum Riz Ahmed and actresses Michelle Williams and Jenny Slate in major roles.
Now, the powers that be behind Venom have enlisted a group of fight and stunt coordinators with some serious entries on their resumes.

According to Omega Underground, Tom Connolly (The Avengers, Logan) has been brought on board to serve as fight coordinator while Chris O’Hara (John Wick, Baby Driver) and Jack Gil (Captain America: Civil War) will serve as stunt coordinators.
While fight and stunt coordinator announcements aren’t something as sexy as casting news, it’s no secret that a production’s fight sequences can make or break the production.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer, production on Venom is expected to begin in October. The movie will be a part of the same Spider-Man-adjacent shared Marvel Comics universe as Silver and Black, Sony's upcoming film about Silver Sable and Black Cat. The Venom movie is being described as a gritty, horror-inspired take on the Marvel anti-hero.
Venom currently has a 3.88 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating, making it the fourth most anticipated upcoming comic book movie among ComicBook.com users.

Let us know how much you're looking forward to Venom by giving the film your own personal ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating below.

'Venom' Co-Creator Todd McFarlane Raises Questions About The Film

X

With a solo Venom movie on the way from Sony Pictures, co-creator Todd McFarlane wants to know what direction the movie will take. In an interview with Screen Geek during a visit to New York Comic Con, the legendary comic book writer and artist shared some of his questions about this second go at a live-action Eddie Brock.
"What's Venom gonna look like?" McFarlane said. "It’s an R-rated movie, how ‘R’ are they going to go? To me, that’s the question. Are they going to go a ‘little bit R’? Venom’s a monster to me, and to me — are they going to make him a monster or are they going to make him a man? Are they going to humanize him? That’s what we gotta find out.”
Speaking with ComicBook.com at New York Comic Con, McFarlane said he hasn't read the script and pondered if the movie would look like Logan or Deadpool (both rated R), adding that "if they gave me that character, I would scare the sh—t out of people with it." McFarlane might have to wait like everyone else: he's got his hands full with the new Spawn movie he's directing, writing and producing, which he hopes will birth a franchise.
We know little about Venom: we know Spider-Man won't be involved, and the movie will be directed by Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad), scripted by Jeff Pinker (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle), and will star Tom Hardy, Jenny Slate, and possibly Riz Ahmed and Michelle Williams.

Reid Scott In Talks To Join 'Venom' Movie

Veep star Reid Scott is reportedly in talks to join the cast of Sony’s Venom movie.
The film will star Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, the original host for the alien Venom symbiote. Hardy's is the only character confirmed, but the cast also includes Riz Ahmed, rumored to play the villain Carnage, Michelle Williams, rumored to play Brock’s wife who becomes She-Venom, and Jenny Slate in a scientist role.

No information on Scott’s role was revealed. Sony had no comment when Variety reached out.
The script for Venom is being written by Scott Rosenberg (Jumanji), Jeff Pinkner (The Dark Tower), and Kelly Marcel. Ruben Fleischer will direct.

Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are on board the film as producers, while Amy Pascal. Palak Patel and Eric Fineman oversee the Spider-Man spinoff for Columbia Pictures.
The Venom movie will not feature Spider-Man, who is currently on loan to Marvel Studios for their Marvel Cinematic Universe pictures, but the movie will begin a Spider-Man adjacent shared film universe featuring Spider-Man-related characters. A movie focusing on Silver Sable and the Black Cat, titled Silver and Black, is also in the works for this shared universe.

While Scott is best known for Veep, he also has a recurring role on NBC’s Great News. In movies, he has appeared opposite Reese Witherspoon in Home Again and can next be seen in Under the Eiffel Tower.
Venom first appeared in the Marvel Universe in 1988. Since then, he has become a fan-favorite Spider-Man villain and sometimes anti-hero who has headlined more than 150 solo comics, though with different host characters and gaps in publication.
The character has appeared in live-action once before as one of the villain’s in Sam Raimi’s final Spider-Man movie, Spider-Man 3 in 2007. In the film, the character of Eddie Brock was played by Topher Grace.

Venom currently has a 3.65 out of 5 ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating. Let us know how excited you are for the Venom movie by giving the film your own personal ComicBook.com User Anticipation Rating below.

Venom Movie Possibly Adapting Lethal Protector Comic

Rumors are circulating that the plot of Sony’s Venom film may be loosely based on the one of the antihero’s most popular comic book stories, Lethal Protector. Although plenty of casting news has been released for the movie, the exact specifics of the storyline itself has been shrouded in secrecy. However, if the latest reports are true, then we could well be in for a symbiote-fest on the big screen.
Ever since the Venom solo film was announced, and Tom Hardy was confirmed as the lead actor, there has been a great deal of interest in how the character would be portrayed. This was tempered by an uncertainty on how it would sit with the MCU films. The general opinion now seems to be that whilst Spider-Man won’t be appearing in the movie, it does have tenuous but not explicit links to that shared universe, and later crossovers could still theoretically happen. However, it is expected to contain the villain Carnage, and will feature major characters like Anne Weying, Eddie Brock’s love interest, possibly to be played by Michelle Williams.

In further intriguing news, Omega Underground has reportedly uncovered some more production details, and come to the conclusion that Venom will be based on one of his earliest character-defining adventures in the comics. Titled Lethal Protector and printed in 1993, it saw Eddie Brock come to peace with his symbiote and even establish a truce with Spidey. Agreeing to leave New York and travel to San Francisco, he becomes a force for good and is even appointed as the protector of a group of subterranean dwellers (Mole People) who were victimised by those around them. Soon, however, his past catches up with him, as a previous victim’s father hires mercenaries to kill him. This group is known as The Jury, and are empowered by Tony Stark armor. Venom then eventually faces off with a new group of symbiote villains (Scream, Phage, Riot, Lasher, and Agony), with the aid of his once-nemesis Spider-Man.

This information is at least partially backed-up by a second report from Omega Underground, which has examined casting calls and production work apparently scheduled for the shooting of Venom in San Francisco; slotting in nicely with the essential location work if the Lethal Protector storyline is adapted.
It should be stressed that these are unverified rumors at the moment, but it is intriguing information nevertheless. If the film were to be based on Lethal Protector, it would have to be very loosely adapted. Spider-Man is a no show, so that element would have to be excised from the plot, and he had a major role to play in it. The use of Mole People, and Tony Stark would also be tricky to incorporate outside the MCU. Then there’s the matter of how Carnage would be worked into the story as presumably the main villain. That’s not even considering establishing the origin of Eddie Brock himself. It could make for a very busy movie.
That aside, we wouldn’t be surprised if elements of Lethal Protector are adapted – possibly a major fight between several symbiote characters, and some form of armored mercenary group – but we doubt that it would be that close to the comic-book arc. However we’ll keep an open mind and let you know of any further updates on Venom as we get them.

VENOM Movie Adds ONLY THE BRAVE Actor Scott Haze In A Mysterious Role - Could He Be Playing Carnage?

As cameras prepare to get rolling on Sony's Venom movie, the cast is being finalised, and the latest addition is Scott Haze (Only the Brave, Midnight Special). Is there a chance he'll play Kletus Kasady?

We got confirmation earlier today that Sony Pictures' Venom movie is scheduled to commence production later this month, and final few additions to the cast are now being announced.

According to
THR, the latest actor to join the Spidey spinoff is Scott Haze, who stars alongside Josh Brolin in this week's Only the Brave.

The character Haze has been cast as is being kept under wraps, but this report reiterates that Carnage will be the villain, and Riz Ahmed will not be playing him. Does that mean Haze will be our Kletus Kasady, perhaps? Chances are it'll be a supporting role, but you never know.

Venom is set for release on October 5, 2018, and also stars Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate and Tom Hardy as the titular antihero.

Tom Hardy's Role In Sony Produced VENOM To Be Performance Capture

While giving press for his upcoming directorial effort Andy Serkis spoke about his history with motion capture performing and let slip a little tid bit about Sony's VENOM.

While it was reported today that production had officially started on the Ruben Fleischer directed film focusing on popular Spider-Man antagonist Venom, much is still unknown about the project. Working from a script from Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinker and with an eclectic and interesting cast led by Tom Hardy it's unclear how this interpretation will play out, with some speculating off the back of Hardy's casting it will follow the Agent Venom title.

What we do know however is that Hardy will most certainly be using performance capture for the film. Speaking to YahooMovies about his directorial debut Breathe, the famed motion performance actor Andy Serkis who also runs the performance capture studio The Imaginarium let slip that the Mad Max: Fury Road actor will be portraying a digital character for the first time in the upcoming comic book movie.

....Acting is acting, and the more A-list actors that come on board, like Mark Rylance playing The BFG , or a lot of actors in the MARVEL films... Tom Hardy is playing a new character using performance capture. It all points up "what is the nature of acting?"....
How much of the film Hardy will spend using motion capture remains to be seen, so too does what the design for our new cinematic Venom will look like but with production now underway and Sony no doubt keen to capitalise on their new found good will following Spider-Man: Homecoming we more than likely won't have to wait long.

VENOM Will Reportedly Feature Flashbacks To An Unexpected Time And Setting

There's an awful lot we don't know about Venom but it's now being widely reported that the upcoming Spider-Man spinoff could take us to an unexpected time and place. Hit the jump for what we know so far!

With production on Venom now officially underway, some fresh details about the spinoff are finally beginning to surface. Apparently, the plan is for at least some scenes to be set in Asia with a casting call going out for "villagers without modern haircuts." That could point to Vietnam flashbacks or even a feudal Japan setting as we potentially learn a lot more about the origin story of the alien symbiote.

Bear in mind that we have no idea whether or not Spider-Man actually exists in the world Venom calls home, so it's feasible that the symbiote has been on Earth for centuries or that it was created by the government and used in various combat situations (that would obviously take inspiration from both the Ultimate Universe and the time Flash Thompson spent wearing the suit for the US government).

We'll just have to wait and see but the signs may very well be pointing to Venom being far from a faithful adaptation of the source material. That will obviously be upsetting to some fans but was to be expected when Sony has decided to move forward with Spider-Man movies which have no connection to the wall-crawler appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Here's hoping it all works, eh?

Villainous Tom Hardy shows off his bulging muscles in tight grey vest as he leans on a BIN in less than glamorous action scene for Spider-Man spin-off Venom

He's hit the ground running filming his latest movie Venom, on location in Atlanta.
And Tom Hardy looked to be taking a time out on Friday as he reclined on a garbage dumpster on set, in between takes.
The film - which is a Spider-Man spin-off and is set in the Sony Marvel Universe - sees Tom, 40, take on the titular role of Venom, but also his alter-ego, reporter Eddie Brock.

And it looked like he was in action mode as he sported a disheveled messy hair do, a grey vest, jeans and hefty boots.
The Peaky Blinders actor reportedly took a fall during a stunt scene, leading to a time out on set, where he leaned casually on the bin.

He was later seen confronting Venom in the reflection of a car window.

VENOM: Tom Hardy Reveals His Look For Eddie Brock In An Official Production Still And New BTS Images

The official Venom Twitter account has debuted a new production still, giving us our first proper look at Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, complete with tats and bandaged arms. We also have some more set snaps.

We recently got a look at Tom Hardy arriving to the Venom set, but now we have some shots of the Mad Max: Fury Road actor actually shooting scenes as Eddie Brock. In addition, the movie's Twitter page has shared an official behind-the-scenes image of Hardy in character.

It seems this incarnation of Brock will be sporting jet-black hair as well as heavily tattooed - and bandaged - arms. Do these wounds have something to do with the Venom symbiote, perhaps?

We still don't have any solid information on the plot of Venom, but there are plenty of rumors doing the rounds. The latest suggests that the Spidey spinoff will be based on the Lethal Protector comic book arc, which saw a group of mercenaries hunting Eddie Brock after he relocates to San Francisco.

One thing we do know for sure is that director Ruben Fleischer has assembled a hell of a cast, which also includes Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed.

You can view them below.

[ZIGGY] 19, a male guitar player, he is a rocker or punk guy who never stops playing the guitar…CO-STAR
[LEWIS DONTAE] Male, serious, very physical soldier of fortune. MUST be a stunt performer…CO-STAR
[BABY NIGHT] 50’s-60’s, former hippie, now homeless. MUST be able to sing…CO-STAR
[MRS. CHEN] 50’s-60’s, funny, endearing Asian woman who owns the corner store…CO-STAR

As we mentioned, each has a defining skill they must achieve. The female paramedic must speak Mandarin, while Ziggy must know how to play guitar. Lewis Dontae must be a stunt performer, while Baby Nighty has to be able to sing. This only differs with Mrs. Chen, who doesn't have a skill she needs to learn but does need to be of Asian descent.
Previous reports indicated that Sony might be aiming for the Lethal Protector storyline from the comics. If that's the case, Lewis Dontae would fit in quite well with his mercenary background and stunt emphasis.
The Lethal Protector storyline puts Venom against the Life Foundation, a group that pushes the Venom symbiote to spawn several others. Those symbiotes are taken up by Donna Diego, Carl Mach, Leslie Gesneria, Trevor Cole, and Ramon Hernandez in the comics, but that doesn't necessarily mean that Sony won't change the names.
When they bond with the suits they become Agony, Phage, Scream, Riot, and Lasher, and it takes Venom teaming up with Spider-Man to take them down. That's a lot to fit in an origin story, but as Thor: Ragnarok revealed, you can take essential elements from multiple storylines and make them work on screen.

'Venom' Will Be Set Partially In Asia

A lot is still unknown about Sony's upcoming Venom solo movie, but we may have just found out one of the film's settings.
IGN and Omega Underground writer Christopher M recently reported that the upcoming Marvel film will shoot some scenes in Asia. This is reportedly thanks to a new casting call for the film, which seeks "villagers without modern haircuts".
It's too early to tell exactly what this setting could mean, considering the plethora of rumors that have floated around Venom. Early reports suggest that the film could be an adaptation of the Lethal Protector storyline, which doesn't see to include a sort of globe-trotting nature.
Fans seem to have a few different theories for how this Asia sequence could fit in, which would indicate some interesting plot points for Venom. One theory is that the scene is some sort of flashback sequence in a different period, which would show one of the previous hosts of the Venom symbiote.
Another option is that the sequence is, despite the casting call, set in the present day. With protagonist Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) being known for his journalism work, some have posited that he could be a war photographer of some kind. Whether or not Brock is infected with the symbiote while on that tour has yet to be seen.
While much of Venom remains a mystery, fans know that it has a pretty impressive cast. In addition to Hardy, the film will star Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, Reid Scott, and Scott Haze.

Tom Hardy Could Be 'Agent Venom' From the Comics

Precious little is known about Sony’s Venom. Distantly-connected to the Marvel universe, Venom will star Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, a disgraced journalist who becomes the host for an alien parasite that turns him into the Spider-Man villain and anti-hero Venom. Shooting has only just begun, but already there’s a hint towards something big in Venom’s history: Agent Venom.

Last Friday, a mirror selfie of Tom Hardy in his trailer was shared in a tweet by the official Venom Twitter account. There’s not a single item in the photo that reveals anything explicit about the movie, but there is a jacket with a black and white American flag patch, a common sight on many soldiers and veterans of the U.S. military. It is not, however, common on New York journalists.
So, is Venom changing the backstory of Eddie Brock to that of Flash Thompson, who in the comics joins the army and becomes the government-sanctioned superhero Agent Venom? Maybe not.
The most likely explanation for the patch is that it simply belongs to Tom Hardy. Aside from having played many soldiers and veterans throughout his career, the English actor is also shooting a war drama for Netflix, with Alien director Ridley Scott, in which Hardy will star as an American Navy Seal. So perhaps Hardy obtained the jacket (or is it a hat? It’s hard to tell) through means outside of Venom. But with details regarding Venom kept so heavily under wraps, a little speculation is harmless.

Right: A soldier with a similar black and white flag patch.Originally created in 1988 by David Michelinie, Mike Zeck, and Image Comics founder Todd McFarlane, Venom first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #300 (though he made a cameo in issue #299). Riding on the popularity of anti-heroes in the ‘90s, Venom quickly became a fan-favorite villain of Spider-Man and eventually starred in his own mini-series comics, such as Venom: Lethal Protector and Venom: The Madness.

The first and most prominent possessor of the Venom symbiote, aside from Peter Parker/Spider-Man, is Eddie Brock, a reporter at the Daily Bugle and Peter Parker’s biggest professional rival. When Eddie wrongly accuses someone of being a serial killer, Spider-Man finds the real killer, which damages Eddie Brock’s career. Attracted by Eddie’s anger, the symbiote latches onto Eddie, and together the two become Venom.
Cover of 'Venom' #4, from when Flash Thompson was Agent Venom. In 2011, the symbiote was used for good when it latched onto Flash Thompson, one of Peter Parker’s old high school bullies who reformed and joined the military, where he was severely wounded in battle. That’s when the symbiote finds and fuses with Flash, and the two end up becoming Agent Venom, who works on behalf of the U.S. government and even joins the Guardians of the Galaxy.

Later this year in 2017, alien symbiotes will invade the Marvel Universe and turn many other Marvel heroes into “Venom” versions of themselves, in an event series called Venomverse.

VENOM: Tom Hardy Training Video Teases "Darkest, Most Powerful Supervillain" Marvel Has Ever Created

A new video reveals the intense MMA and kickboxing training sessions actor Tom Hardy is undergoing five days a week to help prepare for his role as Eddie Brock/Venom in Sony's upcoming Spider-Man spin-off.

A recently released behind-the-scenes video has offered insight into Tom Hardy's intense training regimen, along with a few clues as to what Marvel fan's can expect when we see the actor transform into an "8'4" beast" on the big screen. In the film, Hardy plays Eddie Broke, the man who accidentally bonds with the alien symbiote and becomes Venom. Not much is known about the movie's plot, but Hardy's trainers sure do know how to get us hyped for the character which they claim is going to be "one of the darkest, most powerful super-villains that Marvel has ever created."

As revealed in the video below, Hardy is undergoing MMA and kickboxing sessions five days a week, and sometimes twice a day to prepare for the physical aspects of the role. His trainers, Mark Mene and Nathan Jones, have a lot of positive things to say about the actor's dedication to the role and what he'll bring to the iconic Marvel character.

"I'm impressed. He's definitely going to live up to the character," Mene says. "He's dealing with a guy that turns into an 8-foot, 4 [inch] beast."

Jones adds, "He's got power. I like that. I like that he's got that fire in him because he's not just acting. He's really got it, and it's good to see someone have it because then they'll live the character and that should come across."

Check out the full behind-the-scenes video below and be sure to let us know what you think of Hardy's transformation into the role of Venom.

VENOM Photo Seemingly Gives Us Our First Teasing Glimpse Of Tom Hardy In Costume

A new behind-the-scenes photo from the set of Sony's Venom movie has found its way online, and it might give us a pretty good idea of the costume design for Tom Hardy's live-action take on the character...

A couple of new behind-the-scenes snaps from the set of Sony's Venom movie are now online (via @tomhardydotorg), and one of 'em appears to feature star Tom Hardy partially suited up as the titular supervillain/antihero as he'll appear in the Spider-Man spin-off.

The lighting mostly obscures the shot, but we can make out a dark outfit with a strap across the chest and a heavily bandaged left shoulder. It's not really a whole lot to go on, but it could indicate that we'll see Hardy don a version of the updated, more tactical "Agent Venom" costume as opposed to the monstrous original incarnation.

Check out the images below, and keep an eye out for an official Venom still which should be with us very soon.

VENOM: New CCXP Banners Possibly Reveal The Film's Logo And Eddie Brock's Likely Costume

Well, here's something you probably didn't expect this week. With CCXP kicking off today, Sony has unveiled our first look at a potential promo poster for Venom, which reveals Eddie Brock's likely costume!

Despite the rumor mill recently suggesting that Tom Hardy (Warrior) might be donning the Agent Venom suit - instead of his classic duds - in Ruben Fleischer's Venom, it looks like Sony Pictures, themselves, have seemingly debunked this report with the debut of what appears to be the first batch of promotional posters for the upcoming Spider-Man spinoff, which reveal that we'll definitely be getting a variation of Eddie Brock's iconic symbiote suit.

The posters were actually just spotted a few moments ago by Collider at the CCXP (Comic Con Experience) in São Paulo, Brazil and seemingly suggest that the film may have some sort of presence during the weekend. Even though the Hardy-starrer is still currently in the midst of filming, could the studio finally be ready to debut the first look at Hardy in costume? We'll just have to wait and see.

VENOM: Tom Hardy & Ruben Fleischer Reveal The Film's Official Logo At CCXP '17

After we caught a glimpse at some of the promo art for Venom earlier this week, which included a pretty sweet tagline, star Tom Hardy and director Ruben Fleischer have revealed the film's actual logo.

As far as taglines go, "We Are VENOM" has to be among the best.

After receiving our first look at some promotional art for the upcoming Ruben Fleischer-directed movie earlier this week, Sony Pictures have revealed the film's actual logo at their panel during CCXP '17. Both Fleisher and star Tom Hardy (Eddie Brock), who are both currently on-set in Atlanta filming the upcoming Spider-Man spinoff, made a quick apperance, via webcam, to tease the film and also share with those in attendance an exclusive t-shirt, featuring the new logo.

Check out the shirt below and let us know what you think of the logo in the usual spot!

Tom Hardy Reveals Which Comic Book Series Has Most Influenced VENOM And Teases The Movie's Tone

Tom Hardy has shed further light on what we should expect from Venom, revealing where the movie takes place and which comic book has influenced it. He also weighs in on what he plans to bring to the role.

Well, it looks like Tom Hardy's Venom is officially going to be a "Lethal Protector" as the actor confirmed in a video package at Comic Con Experience 2017 in Sao Paulo, Brazil that the comic book of the same name will heavily influence the movie from Sony Pictures. Published in 1993, the series saw Eddie Brock move to San Francisco after making a truce with Spider-Man but he was soon hunted down by the Life Foundation, a group ultimately transformed into a deadly new group of symbiotes!

Venom also served as a vigilante of sorts, dispensing brutal justice to those who did wrong to innocents. During the video, Hardy also confirmed that the movie takes place in San Francisco.

That gives Venom yet another tie to "Lethal Protector" and the actor proceeded to tell fans that he'll do the character justice and plans to bring plenty of action and dark humour to the role. Hardy also stated that the movie will be important to the Marvel Universe but it's safe to say he probably wasn't referring to the Marvel Cinematic Universe! After all, this isn't expected to take place in that world.

WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES' Woody Harrelson In Talks To Join The Cast Of The VENOM Movie

As shooting continues on Sony's Venom movie, the latest addition to the already impressive cast is Woody Harrelson (Han Solo, War for The Planet of The Apes). Find out more after the jump...

Fans may be a bit apprehensive about Sony's upcoming Venom movie, but there's no denying the strength of the cast, and according to The Wrap it's just got even more impressive.

The outlet reports that Woody Harrelson is in talks for a role in the Spider-Man spin-off, although details on which character he'd be playing are still under wraps. We do know that the role of Kletus Cassidy/Carnage had yet to be filled, so that's certainly a possibility.

Variety does add that Harrelson's character is "a henchman of sorts."

Venom also stars Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, Jenny Slate and Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock. The Movie is set to hit tehaters on October 5, 2018.

New VENOM Set Photos Show Eddie Brock Using A Very Unexpected Means Of Transport

Some new photos from the Atlanta set of Venom have surfaced and they feature Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock using a very unexpected means of transport as the alien symbiote appears to take flight! Check it out.

We've now seen quite a few photos from the set of Venom and none of them have shown Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock actually in costume. The latest once again feature the Lethal Protector in his civvies but he's now driving a motorbike and it appears to take flight - could that be the symbiote lifting Brock into the sky? That definitely sounds like something we'd see in the comics books, so it's definitely possible.

With so many photos like this doing the rounds, it's surprising that Sony Pictures has decided not to unveil our first official look at Venom even if that consisted of a shot of just Eddie minus the symbiote.

Here you go. #EddieBrock, and his motorcycle that flies...

7:14 PM - 11 Dec 2017

How the alien is being brought to life isn't clear but motion-capture seems likely but you have to hope that he will suit up frequently and won't spend most of the movie in regular clothing! With any luck, future photos will give us a better idea of what Venom is going to look like in action. What do you think of these set photos? Can you figure out what's going on? Share your thoughts and theories below.
