DC's Legends of Tomorrow returns October 22 with a premiere that will send John Constantine (Matt Ryan) and all of our heroes aboard the Waverider to Woodstock to stop a new magical threat from causing unprecedented damage to the timeline.

Elsewhere, Nate (Nick Zano) and Rory (Dominic Purcell) embark on their own separate mission that forces Nate to face someone from his past and considering that Thomas Wilson (Back to the Future) was recently cast as his father Hank Heywood, it's probably safe to say that he'll be the familiar face he runs into.
"The Virgin Gary" - (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)

IT'S ALL MAGICAL — After the Legends defeated Mallus and wiped the final anachronism from time, they find themselves in unfamiliar territory with the Time Bureau. All that changes when Constantine (Matt Ryan) informs Sara (Caity Lotz) of a new magical threat that leads the team to Woodstock. Constantine thinks he knows how to defeat the new threat, but will need the help of the team and their special klepto talents to help with his spell. Meanwhile, Nate (Nick Zano) and Rory (Dominic Purcell) go on an adventure leaving Nate facing someone from his past. Brandon Routh, Tala Ashe, Jes Macallan and Courtney Ford also star. Gregory Smith directed the episode written by Phil Klemmer & Grainne Godfree (#401). Original airdate 10/22/2018.

Legends of Tomorrow' EP on the Benefits of Being Left Out of the Arrowverse Crossover

This year's Arrowverse crossover is shaping up to be an exciting one with the introduction of Batwoman as well one of the most significant characters in the history of DC's multiverse, The Monitor. However, Legends of Tomorrow will be sitting the "Elseworlds" adventure out and according to showrunner Phil Klemmer there are some benefits to being benched.

Klemmer recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about The CW series' upcoming fourth season and explained that while people are already talking about the 2019 crossover, he's happy Legends got to sit the 2018 event out -- the first time ever not every Arrowverse series has participated in some fashion.

"People are already talking about crossover 2019," Klemmer said. "We're on standby. I don't know how that will work. There's already a loose shape for it even though this year's crossover isn't done by a long shot. I was happy to have sit this year out just because we only have 16 and our run of episodes was so tight and integrated. It's always a blast but it's a departure. I'm glad we got to do a straight run this year."

Of the Arrowverse shows, Legends of Tomorrow has always had the shortest seasons. While Arrow, The Flash, and Supergirl has counted their season runs with 20 plus episodes, Legends has always been in the teens -- Season 3 saw the show with its most thus far at 18 episodes. The crossovers are also difficult to execute. Arrow's David Ramsey has referred to the events as a logistical "nightmare" in the past and former Arrow and Legends EP Marc Guggenheim told ComicBook.com this year that they are a "difficult labor".

"We always sort of talk about it... I always say, the crossover is a really difficult labor," he said. "It's like going into the room of a woman who just gave birth and she's still swaddling her newborn and you ask. 'So how about the next one?'"

While the rest of the Arrowverse heroes are dealing with whatever threats "Elseworlds" holds for them, the Legends team will have their hands full dealing with the magical creatures they accidentally let loose as a consequence of defeating Mallus last season. This will include facing off with a unicorn, according to a teaser for the upcoming season, but as series star Brandon Routh told fans at FanX earlier this month, that's just fine with them.

"We'll just go on kicking butt over in our part of the world or part of time," Routh said. "While they're busy doing whatever they're doing we're helping everyone else."

'Legends of Tomorrow' EP Teases Season 4's Big Bad

By Jenna Anderson - September 30, 2018

  • 0

It sounds like Legends of Tomorrow fans should expect the unexpected when it comes to the show's newest Big Bad.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, showrunner Phil Klemmer previewed what fans can expect with the latest season of the hit The CW series. While one might expect the main foe of the season to be rooted in magic, Klemmer hinted that that might not be the case.
"We were really interested in seeing how human beings without super powers react to this onslaught of magical beings," Klemmer revealed. "So we wanted to find everyday evil and institutional evil, looking at people who are good and take a turn for the sinister. The magical creatures are so crazy and over the top that we wanted to make our big bad a little more human-scaled. I'm talking a little bit around the punchline here – we've seen doppelgangers, but we've never had the Legends fracture as a group. We wanted to challenge those kinds of bonds this season."

While Klemmer has hinted at the Legends potentially betraying each other in Season 4, these new comments do add a bit of context to it all, as well as open a whole other can of worms. The season will already bring a new doppelganger of sorts of Amaya Jiwe (Maisie Richardson-Sellers), a magical fugitive named Charlie. But it certainly sounds like the Big Bad could be another familiar face entirely, something that would line up with the show's darker tone in Season 4.

"Ironically it made it much darker," Klemmer said of the addition of Magical Fugitives. "It made it much more morally ambiguous. When you're trying to fix history, you can argue about how it needs to be done but you have to fix it. With magical creatures, you're asking big questions like do they belong in our world? Is this really our world to police? We spent a ridiculous amount of time debating morality for a show that's a time-traveling action comedy. Is it fair to put a Minotaur in a cage at the Time Bureau? None of these things exist, but we're asking if a Minotaur has a soul and conscience."

"We are far more interested in finding a nuance in these monsters and turning myths and legends on their heads," Klemmer explained. "We are finding out what fairytales got wrong about various magical creatures and monsters. Some of the ones that are supposed to be magical are murderous and vice versa."

Who do you think the Big Bad in Legends of Tomorrow Season 4 could be? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

'Legends of Tomorrow' Showrunner Previews the "Mystery" Around Constantine in Season 4

Matt Ryan's portrayal of John Constantine has gone through quite a lot of evolutions over the years, and it looks like Season 4 of Legends of Tomorrow will take things to a new level.

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Legends showrunner Phil Klemmer teased what fans can expect within Season 4, especially with regards to Constantine. As he revealed, Constantine's role in the new season will have quite a bit of ambiguity surrounding it, with good reason.

"The reason we held back on making him a Legend is we always wanted to keep that shroud of mystery around him," Klemmer explained. "We didn't want to have him acclimate ever to being integrated with the team... [We] selfishly wanted to create some new mystery around him for our show."

"So between dropping off the dragon's head and knocking on Sara [Caity Lotz] and Ava's [Jes Macallan] door in the middle of the night in the premiere, he lived a very eventful five months," Klemmer continued. "He was in a pretty good spot, relatively for Constantine, but we wanted him to be darker, more troubled, more mysterious. That's something for the audience to have to unravel: What happened to Constantine during the offseason and why has he changed?"

At this point, it's anyone's guess as to exactly what that mystery surrounding Constantine could entail, especially with the "magical fugitives" causing trouble in Season 4. We do know that some part of Constantine's backstory will involve one of his ex-boyfriends, and that being in somewhat of a team setting will put him out of his element.

"What’s great about John in this situation is it’s a bunch of characters where we don’t know how they’d interact." Ryan told ComicBook.com during this summer's San Diego Comic-Con. "So that’s being discovered and created. So that’s a new, kind of wonderful, angle and dynamic for me as an actor playing John. Kind of discovering those things in the moment."

"Wherever John goes, there’s conflict." Ryan continued. "He brings his bag of tricks, but he also brings his emotional baggage with him. And he’s someone who, as we know, will sacrifice his best friend for the greater good. So he has his own motives and his own goals. So to bring him into this world, it’s like ‘What happens?’ And that’s the most interesting thing about doing this character in this context."

Either way, it sounds like Legends fans should be optimistic about this new storyline for Constantine.

"There’s always other elements of the character, and it’s great, but we can bring those to the fore in this show." Ryan said in a recent convention appearance. "That’s one thing I love about John is, he has so much going on and there’s so much more to explore that keeps you interested, and how they make of it in the character, as well. Because there are all these weird story lines that are being written over the years, that people always draw on them.”

LEGENDS OF TOMORROW: Get Your First Look At Maisie Richardson-Sellers' New Character On The Season 4 Poster

Always save the best for last, am I right? The CW has finally debuted the official poster for Legends of Tomorrow Season 4, featuring our first look at Maisie Richardson-Sellers' mysterious new character.

While Amaya may have bid farewell to her Legends teammates, Maisie Richardson-Sellers is still very much a part of the show and will be playing an all-new character this season.

The showrunners haven't been particularly forthcoming with details about her mysterious role, but Richardson-Sellers did coyly reveal at San Diego Comic-Con in July that the new character is named Charlie and that it's not exactly a foregone conclusion that she'll be a friend to our heroes aboard the Waverider. "I'm playing a new character called Charlie, and she is a magical fugitive. She's a bit of a rebel trickster, a bit of an anarchist, this punk rock kid. The Legends stumble upon her and [have to] decide whether she is a friend or a foe."

The CW released the official poster for season four earlier this afternoon, revealing our first look at Charlie, who is sporting a drastically different appearance than the more conservative Amaya. Plus, we also get to see John Constantine (Matt Ryan) join the team as well as Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan) and Nora Darhk (Courtney Ford), who were both also upped to series regulars.

'Legends of Tomorrow' Will Have Its Own Crossover During the "Elseworlds" Crossover Week

The Legends of Tomorrow might be sitting out of this year's Arrowverse crossover, but it sounds like fans can still expect must-see TV that week.
In a recent interview with TVLine, the cast and crew of Legends previewed their own crossover of sorts, which is expected to happen while Supergirl, Arrow, and The Flash are involved with "Elseworlds".

“During the week that all the other crossovers are happening, we will essentially be crossing over with ourselves,” showrunner Keto Shimizu teased. “[It will involve] alternate time periods.”
“That particular episode is insane,” Caity Lotz, who plays Sara Lance/White Canary, revealed. “I think they wanted to do something special since we weren’t going to be doing the ["Elseworlds"] crossovers... You’ll see a lot of different sides of the Legends.”

“I’ll just say it’s a lot of work for the people who are in those scenes!” Tala Ashe, who plays Zari Tomaz, seconded. “It’s fun.”
Given what we already know about Legends' newest season, there's no telling exactly how that "crossover" will come together. This season is expected to pit the team against "magical fugitives", which are characters from myths, legends, and fairy tales that have been scattered throughout time.

“It’s a combo [of original and established creatures]." Shimizu explained to ComicBook.com. "There will be some that will be very, vary familiar, but of course with a Legends spin, so not quite the creature you’re familiar with but our version of that creature. And then we will do some deep dives into some more obscure creatures, and of course in order to battle this new type of threat, which none of us are magical ourselves, none of us know how to battle these things, we enlist the help of a certain warlock to come join us and help us in that crusade.”
But once those threats are dealt with in one way or another, it sounds like the Legends could still factor into a future crossover installment.
"People are already talking about crossover 2019," showrunner Phil Klemmer said in a previous interview.

LEGENDS OF TOMORROW: Get Ready For The Fight To Come With This Hysterically Wild Extended Trailer

The CW has released a new extended trailer for the upcoming season premiere of DC's Legends of Tomorrow and it's pretty damn awesome as John Constantine prepares the Legends for the fight that's coming!

DC's Legends of Tomorrow premieres next Monday night and based on this new extended trailer, it looks like the season premiere may be all kinds of wild as the Legends find themselves up against the most magical of beasts, a unicorn - and it looks like the horned steed has something very unexpected in store for our heroes.

The trailer also contains plenty of John Constantine (Matt Ryan), who has sought out the Legends in order to get them to fix what they broke and help him send all these beasts straight back to hell.

Something went wrong. Please make sure you added the video correctly.

Legends of Tomorrow Season 4: Cast & Guest Star Guide

DC's Legends of Tomorrow is back with some new faces joining the cast's already familiar characters. The CW's series about time-hopping misfit superheroes fully embraced their inherent weirdness in season 3 to become what many fans feel is the best Arrowverse show. They'll even skip the annual Arrowverse crossover, Elseworlds, and instead, have a crossover with themselves. And since constant change is built into Legends' DNA; some core castmembers have departed but will be replaced by new heroes coming aboard the Waverider during season 4's 16 episodes.

The Legends ended season 3 with their biggest victory by defeating the time demon Mallus, only to learn from John Constantine (Matt Ryan) that they ended up releasing even more dangerous creatures throughout history. These magical threats - known as "fugitives" - are now running amok throughout time. This means our ragtag team of screw-ups will be chasing anything from homicidal unicorns to werewolves to bewitching fairy godmothers across historical eras like Woodstock 1969 and the Salem Witch Trials. In addition, DC's Legends of Tomorrow's showrunners promise the series will also tackle themes of "everyday evil and institutional evil" along with scores of mythological baddies.

Season 3 saw the deaths of several major characters like Rip Hunter (Arthur Darville), Dr. Martin Stein (Victor Garber), and the evil Damien Darhk (Neal McDonough) while others like Jefferson Jackson (Franz Drameh) and Leo Snart (Wentworth Miller) also departed the series. However, death isn't necessarily permanent on this series, as the Legends' time-travel shenanigans basically means any character could reappear at any point. In the meantime, here are the characters who will be taking a ride of the Waverider in Legends of Tomorrow season 4:

The Legends Who Are Returning

Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary
- Sara has come into her own as the Captain of the Waverider and as the Legends' undisputed leader, though she's often a reluctant and exasperated head honcho. Meanwhile, the former assassin has found love with Ava Sharpe (Jes Macallan), the director of the Time Bureau, and their romance will blossom even further in season 4.

Brandon Routh as Dr. Ray Palmer/Atom
- The eternally optimistic Ray remains the Legends' science nerd and inventor. The Atom may also be finding romance in season 4 after he gave Nora Darhk (Courtney Ford), her father Damien Darhk's time stone so she can escape from the Time Bureau.

Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heatwave - A reformed bank robber and supervillain, Mick has found a family aboard the Waverider, though he'll never admit it. Heatwave will continue his excessive drinking and insults, annoying his fellow Legends while he continues his secret passion as a sci-fi novelist.

Nick Zano as Nate Heywood/Steel - The Legends' resident historian and movie nerd had to say goodbye to Amaya Jiwe/Vixen (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) and will be coping with that heartbreak. Having already met his superhero grandfather Commander Steel (Matthew MacCaull), Nate will also have to deal with his estranged father Hank (Thomas F. Wilson).

Maisie Richardson-Sellers as Charlie - While Vixen's story is done (for now), Richardson-Sellers is playing a new character named Charlie, who is described as a "magical fugitive, rebel trickster, and a bit of an anarchist."

Tala Ashe as Zari Tomaz - Zari, a time-displaced hacker from 2042, found a home aboard the Waverider. In season 4, she may remain one of the few Legends who refuses to wear a superhero costume.

Amy Pemberton as Gideon - The artificial intelligence of the Waverider, the Legends' trusty timeship, Gideon is usually heard and not seen but she does sometimes appear in human form as a hologram.

The New Legends Joining

Matt Ryan as John Constantine - After his popular guest spot last season, the rogue demonologist is now formally a full-time part of the Arrowverse and joins the Legends as a series regular. John's mystical expertise will be needed more than ever against the magical fugitives, but it won't always be a pleasant fit for Constantine aboard the Waverider.

Courtney Ford as Nora Darhk - After spending season 3 as the host vessel of Mallus and under the thrall of her father Damien Darhk, Nora also joins the Legends as a series regular. Nora has to discover who she is now that she's free of both of the evil forces that controlled her. Sparks should also fly between Nora and Ray Palmer (note that Courtney Ford is the real-life wife of Brandon Routh).

The Time Bureau

Jes Macallan as Ava Sharpe - A clone from the year 2213, Ava is now a series regular, the Director of the Time Bureau, and Sara Lance's girlfriend. Ava will try to make her relationship work while also leading the Time Bureau to help the Legends' round up the magical fugitives - all of which is easier said than done.

Adam Tsekhman as Agent Gary Green - Gary has a habit of turning up where he's not wanted (usually in cosplay) but the loveable goofball is the Legends' number-one fan within the Time Bureau.

Recurring/Guest Stars

Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West/Kid Flash
- Though Lonsdale is leaving the Arrowverse to pursue new acting opportunities, Kid Flash joined the Legends in season 3 and is expected to make a season 4 appearance.

Ramona Young as Alaska Yu - A new character the Legends will meet, Alaska is described as a "typical twenty-something easily swept up by romantic notions and fantasy novels."

Thomas F. Wilson as Hank Heywood - A career military man, Hank is Nate's estranged father and will try to reconnect with his son in season 4.

Beebo as Beebo
- The Blue God of Norse mythology, everyone's favorite furry, huggable toy is set to return in season 4.

As much as I love the characters/heroes in this story, it's starting to become pretty stupid.
