Made one similar to this last week. I will try to remember to take a picture when I get home.

Twisted 26ga quad coil. So technically it is a Dual Quad Coil. I have mine running at 0.4ohm

Yes and no... (to the nicotine question, which is answered in depth, below). Whether it is just a fad is debatable. I do find it to be rather similar to hookah, though.

There are (usually) 3 main components to these devices.

The battery, which is the big, bottom part of the electronic cigarette. They are merely a power source to feed the atomizer. Some have a feature where you can vary the voltage, which changes how the liquid is vaporized. Different liquids and flavors could act differently when drawn onto a head, so it is a nice feature. Some people, on the other hand, have batteries that you cannot vary, but they do the same using different resistances on the coil, within the vaporizer head. The cheap ones suck, and you cannot vary anything.

the atomizer head, which is the actual element that vaporizes the liquid. This attaches to the battery. There are a lot of different styles and designs for atomizers on the market currently, but are all effectively just a heating element, and a way to deliver the liquid to that heating element.

and then the cartomizer, which holds the eliquid around the atomizer head, so when you draw on it, it is drawn onto the heating element to be vaporized. Again, there are a lot of different designs for these that work slightly differently, but that is the basic principle.

the liquid is made up primarily of 4 components: vegetable glycerin (VG), propylene glycol (PG), flavoring, and nicotine. there are varying mixtures of VG and PG, but 50/50 is probably the most common, liquid is also made without nicotine in it as well.

Got my Helios tonight. This thing is a fucking beast, dual center post and adjustable airflow. Love it. Picked it up from a RHO rep at a vape meet. Also, look at the fucking awesome vape stand I got too.

Just ordered this with a rebuildable drip atomizer yesterday

http://www.fasttech.com/products/141...mechanical-mod

I've read really good things about this clone. Hopefully it will be as good as everyone says it is!

its a really nice clone, nearly identical in build quality....
Honestly most clones from China are....which saves me tons of money!

boggles my mind how people will drop 150+ on a mod.

That's what the common consensus is. I bought a variable wattage kick module for it, too. Now I just need to wait for fasttech (quite the ironic name.. they always seem to take forever) and get some batteries. I'm stoked; this is my first mod and first time making my own atomizer!

this might be a nice little purchase too while you are learning coil wrapping.....

for backups if you cant get a good coil working, at least you can toss a pre-made one in and vape a little till you get the hang of it...

http://www.fasttech.com/search?%20Pr...%20and%20Wicks

super sale on 50 packs for $2.23

1 and 4 wick available

One of my buddies has some experience making coils, and I've been watching a bunch of youtube videos. I have a ohm reader on order, too. Just need to get some Kanthal and cotton roll from CVS. It all seems pretty straight forward. I'm pretty good at wiring and meticulous, technical shit. I'm hoping I won't have too much trouble getting the hang of this!

microcoils aremuch easier IMO....I have a hard time sometimes making a standard 4/5 etc coil....

but ill tell ya what....organic cotton tastes a lot better than silica wick...just wish it lasted longer...

with my coils I make one that works and just pull the cotton out and replace with new cotton when it gets nasty...just dry fire the coil with no cotton in it to burn off the old juice and its good as new....well for a while.

That's what I hear. It's like 8 bucks for a lifetime supply of cotton too, so nbd on it not lasting long. I only vape a few times a day, so I am not too worried about it.

I planned on starting with 28g wire and making microcoils on a small drill bit. Seems like that is how a lot of people do it. I'll definitely post up some builds once it comes in and I play around a bit and get it working!

I got my FT Chi a few days ago, been running it 18350 with my igo-l at 1.5 ohm. Things a beast, though I did notice a bit of battery rattle if I didn't lengthen the pin out a bit. Did you get the one with silver contacts?
