Default KC Area Transmission Shop?

So who in town knows how to build a good racing transmission? I have a 700R4 (I know, not the best choice, but it's what I've got) and would like to do a "Monster in a Box" kit for it. It seems like most shops don't want to do racing stuff- especially where the customer installs the transmission.

Let me know who you like.

thanks.

I always recommend Apollo Transmission. It's in Independence but they do great work. There's also one in the Dotte.

Transmasters in Lawrence they are nationaly known for their 700r's and 200's but you are still limited to high tens. Just put a 4l80e and a shift kit and you are way more reliable

Thanks for the tips. The Dotte and Lawrence are both near me. But I'm also considering a whole new trans from Pro Built in California. I've heard lots of good things about them. Shipping will suck, but that would be a lot easier. Decisions decisions.

Get the parts list from whatever product you want to buy, call Apollo, tell them you want your transmission rebuilt with these parts, and profit. Prob be a lot cheaper. That's what I did and I saved a lot.

I can find no information on TransMasters. Are they a towing company? It seems like a nationally known race transmission builder would have some mention of that service somewhere rather than just towing.

Also, I did want a 4l80 until I found out they are nearly impossible to put in a 3rd gen Camaro, and that they need a $1000 computer to run them.
