The EVO is in no way out of date, as well as the Epic 4G, the EVO shift 4g and the (at least) two new phones they will be announcing at CTIA on Tuesday.

Edit: oh and the HTC Thunderbolt for Verizon. THE best phone out currently.
are you sure the thunderbolt sure looks like a verizion evo. is there anything the separate the two

The Thunderbolt has a little more RAM and A LOT more on board storage (8GB vs the Evo's 1GB). Other than that, no.

nice twin posts guys. But yeah, wait for the EVO 3D, if it keeps the same specs that are being rumored then it will trump the Thunderbolt.

Quote:
This afternoon, AT&T and T-Mobile dedicated a twenty-eight page PDF to convincing regulators that their $39 billion aquisition wouldn't violate antitrust law, using images like the one above. Well, as you can imagine, Sprint had something to say about that, and you can read it immediately below.
Quote:
The combination of AT&T and T-Mobile USA, if approved by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Communications Commission (FCC), would alter dramatically the structure of the communications industry. AT&T and Verizon are already by far the largest wireless providers. A combined AT&T and T-Mobile would be almost three times the size of Sprint, the third largest wireless competitor. If approved, the merger would result in a wireless industry dominated overwhelmingly by two vertically-integrated companies that control almost 80% of the US wireless post-paid market, as well as the availability and price of key inputs such as backhaul and access needed by other wireless companies to compete. The DOJ and the FCC must decide if this transaction is in the best interest of consumers and the US economy overall, and determine if innovation and robust competition would be impacted adversely and by this dramatic change in the structure of the industry.
Last week, rumors flew that Sprint, not AT&T, would be the one to join T-Mobile and create a vast wireless network, and while we haven't heard any proof of that so far, it probably wouldn't be terribly happy to settle for "number 1 spectrum position" if the tables were indeed turned.

T-Mobile is great, never had a complaint. IF I have to switch, it'll probably be to Verizon.. just gotta wait to see it pan out..

This. I have had T-Mo for years now and have had only a couple minor issues. This makes me sad.

T-Mobile: Pay your bills, no Magenta iPhone

So now that T-Mobile's hopped in bed with AT&T -- maybe you've heard about it -- what's that mean for you T-Mobile customers in the near-term? The quick and easy answer is not much. There are a lot of hoops that have to be jumped through for this to even happen. So in the meantime, everyone sit tight and peep these bullet points:
  • Keep paying your bills. T-Mobile's pretty not dead yet, and you still need your phone to work. So write your checks to Magenta just like normal.
  • Your current T-Mobile phone won't yet work on AT&T 3G. And AT&T phones won't work on T-Mobile 3G. The laws of physics can't be breached by this deal.
  • And that means neither T-Mobile nor AT&T are likely to shut down the 1700 MHz (AWS) band any time soon.
  • No, T-Mobile isn't getting the iPhone. And they're pretty clear about that, saying that in the interim, "T-Mobile USA remains an independent company. The acquisition is expected to be completed in approximately 12 months. We do not offer the iPhone."
  • And as you just read, this whole thing's going to take a year or so to be done. There also will be some major rebranding to be done, and likely Carly and that Snarky McSnarkington in those Apple ripoff/AT&T bitchslap commercials will be no more.
Don't believe us? Wanna hear more about how "the merger will ensure the deployment of a robust 4G LTE network to 95% of the U.S. population"? (Never mind that Verizon's very much beating AT&T-Mobile in the 4G game at the moment.) T-Mo's got a nice Q&A worked up in its forums. [T-Mobile Forums] Thanks to everybody who sent this in

Why? And don't say "because you can't do simultaneous voice/data" since you can.

edit: And I already know one of your other arguments; you can't use the same phone anywhere in the world. There are Americans that never leave the state they were BORN in, yet alone the country so that isnt an issue. For the select few that DO travel outside the US, they'll have either a GSM phone anyways or a GSM/CDMA hybrid.

or, the rest of the world.....but yeah.

Sim cards make GSM better than CDMA, hands down. I had Tmobile back in the states and LOVED that no matter where i got the phone from (as long as it was GSM) i could pop in my Sim card and i was good to go.

I change phones so often that i simply HAVE to have a sim card.

Does sprint still charge their stupid ass 36$ fee for changing phones? know for the time i sold them at UE and even when i worked for Tmo and was competing against them they charged people 18 or 36$ just to switch phones. Sometimes if you called them and asked they'd waive it, but usually they wouldnt.

there is a reason that everyone can't have the Iphone and it is given every time the question is brought up

No you can change your phone using the online interface. I change to my Treo Pro from my EVO when I am going camping or going out to a concert or event. It takes around 5-7 minutes to change the phone.

Sprint is the best for pricing and who the fuck needs a sim card. I've always thought they were dumb as shit since if you lost it, you were fucked. I say try hanging onto a phone for a year and it's not an issue. I love my CDMA phone and think a sim card would just be something else to lose.

Cliff notes: Dusty, fuck you I like my CDMA phone and not worrying about losing something else lol I keed, I keed!

Yeah, get lost by it being in your phone?

I dont sync my phone to my computer, so having a sim card is how i transfer numbers from one phone to the next.

Weird that only the US seems to think CDMA is oh so great......

Yeah, I know when my friends would clean their phones and one of my friends would lose his sim card lol. I sync my numbers so no worries. I don't care what kind my phone is as long as it works worth a shit and isn't slow as balls.

This is clearly an issue with sim cards, and not your friend being a fucking moron.

you can say whatever you want but it doesn't change my mind on how a sim card is useless.

Really? Saying a year old phone isn't out of date? As far as standard phones go, they are out of date the day they are launched. Companies like HTC will develop a slew of products to release over the course of a year, and release the worst technology first and move along. You will never, ever, have an 'up to date' phone. You will always be behind the curve. That is the way this market is designed, so that each model is more alluring.
