Default Anyone know a mustang guy or general mechanic?

I've got a 92 GT I bought a few months ago. 306, fully built. I typically get it out once or twice a week and it had driven fine since I bought it, however I went to take it out a couple of weeks ago and it wouldn't start. It just cranks and cranks. After looking it over, it's making what sounds like a leaking noise right around the bbk fuel pressure regulator/rail. We can't identify exactly where the noise is coming from, but when you move the rail you can hear the noise change slightly. I can eventually get the car started if I mash the gas pedal down, but it won't stay running unless I give it constant gas, and even then it sounds pretty rough.

I'm between moves right now and working a lot and just don't really have the time to try and get this resolved and I can't drive the car anywhere. It may just end up being a simple fix but who knows.

Anyone know of somebody that would be willing to come out to Bonner Springs to look it over? Ultimately I just want it running again and of course would pay if we could make that happen. Thanks

Sounds like the diaphragm in the FPR might be ruptured and is leaking fuel into the vacuum hose attached to it.

If you crank it over a few times, pull the vacuum line attached to the FPR and fuel comes spilling out, then you have found your problem.

I'm hoping to get a chance to look at it this weekend. If I can narrow the problem down to the regulator I'll probably take you up on that. $50 right?

Nobody knows someone that would be willing to come take a look for pay? Removed the intake today to get to the crossover hose that connects the fuel rails. The noise seemed to be most likely coming from there but after replacing it, sure enough the air blowing noise is still there. My next two thoughts are to try the fuel pressure regator or maybe I have a hung injector

Also we checked the vaccum line attached to the fpr and didn't see any fuel leaking out

How about does anyone know a local shop that could diagnose something like this?

One of the sponsors, DIY Auto Repair, would be a good place to start. Contact him and see what they can do.

From all the feedback, you'll be treated right.

Got the previous issue fixed. Also threw a small supercharger on shortly afterwards, which led to what looks like an intake end gasket leak.

Nobody knows of anyone that knows mustangs and does work on the side?

Are you needing the intake manifold gaskets swapped out?? Just pull the upper/lower intake manifold off and replace ALL the gaskets including the ones between the EGR and the throttle body. I would also go through and replace ALL the o-rings on the injectors too. I'm not afraid to do that swap at all however, I'm down in Peculiar, MO BUT I have a double car garage, and have worked on many of my past 5.0's over the years.
