Haha, the owner is worse off than the watch. Broke a few bones, so I heard. He must have been able to hack the movement in time. Only needed a new bezel, crystal, and a light polish. Lucky SOB (the watch).

That is brutal. The last thing the AD said to me when I got mine was "be careful with the crystal, you don't want know what that costs to replace."

Going to guess around $800 and the bezel is around $500. Cost $1500 to get it back to new.

I'm sure it's replaceable. I would call Rado and see how much they will charge. Is it still under warranty? If so, it might not cost a thing.

I honestly have no clue if it is or not. I have a couple of Rado's and that VC that were handed down to my by my late uncle so I don't have any of the papers or anything. Also I want a nice but fairly inexpensive case if you have any to reccomend. Something with a glass top.

I would look someplace like brookstone or wait until Christmas. My inlaws bought me a leather case with a glass top for probably around $30 and it holds 8 watches a year ago at Christmas. It holds all of my quartz watches.

Does your Rado with the broken sapphire crystal have a serial number? If so, they can look it up. If not, not sure. Probably wouldn't be over $300 to get it replaced, if that.

Not sure about watch boxes as I just lay my only nice watch in the safe. Natalie wears the other one. They both could use winders, though. Orbita is a great winder for the money for your automatics.

Awesome piece. Longines makes some pretty great watches. This GMT is one of them. Enjoy it!

For some reason I thought you had one of the vintage models. I am liking the WW1 model with the distressed brown strap.

He has the BR 01-92 Heritage. He bought a Rob Montana Strap aka Strapsmith to go with it.

I am a big fan of B&R.

The only thing I would say about Bulova, is never pay full price. I actually think some of their precisionist watches look really cool and it is a neat idea. The downside for them, is that most of their watches can be found at huge (25-75%) discounts online - so I would never pay retail.

As for the other two, I have only read one review on a Stuhrling (said it was good for the money, but the band felt cheap) and I know nothing about Akribos. I would go for a lower level Hamilton - New they can be had in the $200-$300 range starting out. They have a mechanical model in the $260 range that is always selling out. Getting one of those, you could always sell it when you get tired of it and make most, if not all of your money back.

World of Watches and Jomashop carry most of these brands (plus a lot more) at a pretty heavy discount. Some of it is gray market stuff, but it is all legit and they are not some fly by night company.

Stuhrling makes a decent cheap tourbillon, but their other watches are junk. Bulova is decent, but never pay retail like 69Mach351 has said. Akribos? Don't know much about that brand, so I can't really offer an sound advice.

Not totally sure yet. I originally thought about another breitling superocean heritage and a B&R WWI-92, but part of the reason I get annoyed and sell them, is because they get fine scratches and swirls on the highly polished surfaces. The B&R wouldn't be bad. I may just pick up a G-shock or Hamilton and call it a day until something really strikes my eye. Open to suggestions!

Suggest away. The rolex isn't quite a done deal yet, but when it is (should know tomorrow) I will get serious. A few hundred to a few grand. I almost hate to go higher since I haven't found one I am happy with for a long period of time and I take a bath every time I buy/sell. Nothing too flashy...it doesn't work well in my industry. I would prefer brushed finish. The B&R is the only one that really fits my criteria. That is why I brought up a G-Shock and waiting a bit.

That said, I was about 8 hours late on a used TT Daytona a week ago.

This is the Bulova I've been looking at. http://www.overstock.com/Jewelry-Wat...5/product.html

I like the clean classy look with the small window to the movement.
