Death trap, regardless of what the crash star rating says. There isn't enough mass to keep you safe in a wreck with a larger vehicle.

That was my initial thought. But...it wouldn't be any worse than a motorcycle (likely a lot better) and if it is built well, it probably wouldn't be any worse than something like a smart car. Time will tell I guess.

It would be interesting to see a more indepth review of compartment space, passenger space, storage, etc.

I think it's a pretty cool idea. I would almost toy around with getting one as a DD. It would be cheap to buy and drive, so i could have a weekend warrior car and a bike and still have plenty of money to live comfortably in other aspects of my life. Especially if they're also fun to drive. They're so cheap and efficient, and I can't imagine insurance would be too awful on them unless repair cost is astronomical or something.. really not a bad idea. It's what smart cars should have been priced around.

I read up on it this morning. The trunk is designed to hold a carry-on bag (something like 1'x1'x2') and if you fold the passenger seat down it will hold golf clubs.

The biggest guy they have fit in it (weight wise) was 6-3 and 365 lbs. Height is 6-8. They did say it was designed around someone 6-1 and around 210 lbs IIRC.

I thought it would make a great beater. It is still cheaper than a lot of reliable used cars. Like you said, it leaves a lot of money for toys and other stuff.

Interesting, especially at that price point and fuel economy. I wonder how 3 wheelers do in the snow though.

Found my answer;

Quote:
The engine is in the front and it is a front-wheel-drive vehicle. So, with a low center of gravity and weight towards the front, you’ll get great traction action – even in the snow
Would still be weird trusting this thing in winter conditions though.

I'd rather spend $5k on a Ninja 300.

You'd have to reach really far at the drive-through or taking a parking lot ticket stub.

I was wondering the same thing. I bet this thing would be a BLAST to tear around on snowy streets if it could get traction in the front

Or just throw some Blizzaks on it and call it a day!

and who needs parking lot stubs. That thing will drive under the gate

but seriously that would get kind of old. But personally i would only use it for work and back.

edit-is that a carb? Did they find every Festiva in the junkyard and snag the motors?

I don't think I could ever own one just on grounds for how much attention you'd get in it. You'd never be able to go anywhere without having to stop and talk about it with someone. That would get old quick.

Just carry around a shirt that says "I rape babies" and put it on before you get out. That would probably discourage even the most curious of people.

interesting, but wonder what parts/insurance/maintenance would run on these? seems like one wreck and it is totaled.. and how about blindspots? seems pretty low , I like driving my truck,,(granted 13 MPG) but I can see everything, and they can see me.. LOL
