Just noticed that Errol Christie passed away on June 11. That's another 72 pts for me.

RIP to a solid boxer

I seriously can't take this shit anymore. Was a huge Linkin Park fan back in the day. First Chris, now him. They were close friends apparently.

Clutching my cure
I tightly lock the door
I try to catch my breath again
I hurt much more than any time before
I have no options left again
I don't want to be the one the battles always choose
'cause inside I realize that I'm the one confused

I don't know what's worth fighting for
Or why I have to scream
I don't know why I instigate
And say what I don't mean
I don't know how I got this way
I'll never be alright
So I'm breaking the habit
I'm breaking the habit tonight

I'll paint it on the walls
'cause I'm the one at fault
I'll never fight again
And this is how it ends
Breaking the Habit - Linkin Park

Chris Cornell's bday today... wonder if that had anything to do with it.

I'm sure it did. Losing a close friend is difficult, especially when you have mental health issues as I'm sure Chester did. I'm sure even more so when your friend commits suicide. Makes it seem like much more of an option for yourself. If someone with such talent, fame, money, a wife, kids, friends, purpose and success can't get the help they need, how can they?

Hearing he had 6 kids makes this so much worse. I couldn't imagine leaving my children because a friend was gone. Your six kids were less important than one friend? Sad.

Can't rationalize depression... you know that.

Still just sucks balls... a hundredth or thousandth example that money, fame, family, success, etc can't fix depression/mental illness. It's as awful a disease as alzheimer's, parkinsons, etc.

I'm sure that was just the straw that broke the camel's back. He very obviously had mental health issues and it was reported he struggled with addiction. He was molested as a child by an older man. When you have issues like that, you think you're a piece of shit and everyone would be better off without you.

I can rationalize choosing to do so many drugs that you have fucked your head up for life, or what's left of it.

Doesn't make it any less sad, but not sure he was anything but a victim of his own decisions.

RIP.

Chester suffered through a lot of abuse as well as molestation as a child for something like 5 or 6 years IIRC. It went into his teenage years. During that time his parents divorced and often left him alone while they worked. That led to his substance abuse. It was the band that ultimately got him to seek treatment for it as he was on the verge of death. Some people are haunted from the beginning and I think that Chester was one of them.

It's hard for me to fathom leaving my family and friends behind, but with severe depression your body has essentially stopped producing the chemicals that give you happiness. You just straight up don't get to be happy. You're stuck confused, frustrated, and sad constantly to the point that looking for a way out is the only thing that you can focus on. Depression in it's more aggressive forms is absolutely terrifying and something I'm glad is receiving more spotlight now.

RIP Chester. This one really stings.

Most of you guys have no idea what this shit is like and I envy the fuck out of you. I was able to feel normal once for about a year. Absolutely no fucking idea how it happened but I literally woke up one day and magically I felt like a normal person. It was fucking amazing. I felt like I could do anything and nothing was holding me back. No depression, anxiety, nothing. I felt emotions like a normal person and it felt so healthy. I was even watching my first real (ex) love go through cancer and the sadness of that didn't overwhelm me and I didn't avoid it. I felt it like a normal person and just went through it. I of course crashed, hard and fell into a deep depression after. I sound like a nut job but this really happened in 2011. The difference was so night and day, everyone around me could see it. I got an amazing gf during that time peroid (of course she left me a year after I crashed and I don't blame her), everything just started going great for me. I knew it would end though as people don't just magically become and stay normal when you have a personality disorder. To this day I'm perplexed on how it happened but it really gave me a lot of insight on how emotionally healthy people feel and I would give anything to feel like that again.
