Default Point and Shoot question

I have been looking at getting some "artsy" type pictures of KC to hang in my loft but dont want to spend what the already framed places are asking.

My question is how well would a point n shoot 10.1mp camera turn out pictures if I wanted to make them decent size? (I know they wont be professional quality but they will be nice enough for my taste)

My idea is to hop on the bicycle and just pedal around KC and take lots of random pictures then go to Kinkos and print off some glossy b&w and color copies ranging from 8x10 all the way up to poster size.

Will look real bad that large. Even my S95 which is known to be one of the better point and shoots has way too much noise for me to be happy with pictures printed on anything large.

And just asking about a point and shoot 10.1mp doesn't tell us anything... too many variations in picture quality in point and shoots.

As long as you don't go too large you should be able to do it. However Kinko's laser jets aren't very good. I'd have a place with a nice ink-jet print them.
