Very cool. What lens did you use for this? After seeing these pics, I tried it out myself, and damn its hard to time it just right. I think I took about a hundred pictures and only about 3 were decent.

I shot this with my 10D and used two lenses, the first I used was my 28-135, but I wanted to get closer, so I switched to my DIY macro lens. Its an old $20 35-80 that I took apart and modified to work really well as a macro (followed a DIY from photography-on-the.net). And yeah. Its all about timing. Are you using off-camera flash? I had 2 oppositely gelled hot-shoe flashes at about 1/64th power pointed at the white casserole dish I had the water dripping into.

Probably the best advice I have is to set up a bag full of water on a stand above your catch dish with a small hole. This will let the drops land in very nearly the same place every time. Set your camera on a tripod then put a pencil in the water right where the drops hit the water to focus on that area. It helps focus even more if there is writing or a pattern on the pencil/pen. Once its focused, flip the lens to manual focus to lock it in place. After its all set up, just keep hitting the shutter (I used a remote shutter trigger to keep the camera rock solid). Its a numbers game, the more shots you take, the better chance you have of getting some good shots. And honestly, I didn't even bother timing the drops, once I got a steady stream of about 1-2 drops per second I just let the camera fly on burst mode and hoped for the best.

Pretty good shots!

I never had the patients to ever try that, so I applaud your efforts
