Default CM200T cafe project

I picked up this 1980 CM200T for next to nothing a few weeks ago. My plan is to build a cafe styled bar hopper for under 500 bucks.

Prices as of today:

Clubman Handlebars - $18.50
Custom Cafe Tail - $ free (built with scrap)
Bar end mirrors - $38.00
Shorty mufflers - $40.00
Grips - $ free (left over from another project)
Headlight mount - $12.55
Fork seals - $28.00
Shocks - $81.00
Front Brake switch - $7.50
Vinyl for seat - $17.50
Misc Paint - $50.00

Total so far $293.05

The bike runs and drives great. Will be doing some basic "hot rodding" tweaking to the motor (port matching intake manifold, carb jetting & wideband afr tuning, open air filter, etc) to squeeze a little more from this little beast.

Its a slouch, but gets about 80mpg and is a blast to ride around town. (70mph max..so highways suck)

I have some longer rear shocks sourced to level out the bike, and am still searching for some foam / vinyl to make a seat pad.

Other plans:
basic maintenance (fork seals, new chain, clean & adjust brakes)
Custom led taillight (have to wire for 6v electrical system)
relocate battery / electronics to under hump or somewhere else hidden
paint (though may keep the crappy stock paint for nostalgia

Shorty mufflers: (clamp was temporary for mock up purposes)

Current state: (tail mocked up, clubmans on, bar end mirrors on)

Hell ya. I've watched your thread for awhile. I've always wanted to build a cafe styled bike but never found the right deal. This thing popped up cheap and I couldn't say no.

Once this one is done my plan is to pick up another honda twin (cb350, cl350, etc) and give this one to my wife.

This thing is horribly slow, but so fun to ride. (besides, if I need to go fast, I'll jump on my big bike)

Got my seat pad mocked up today. Also ditched my airbox and tuned the carb.....200cc's of pure power now!!!!! lol

Also ordered headlight mounts....

edit: after posting, I chopped the rear of the frame off about 3 inches and will be adding a taillight mount under the hump.

pic of seat pad added to original post

Been a few months... time for an update:

Added longer shocks (raised the rear about an inch)
Rebuilt forks (new seals, fluid, taller preload spacers)
Installed headlight brackets to lower headlight
Built a "sportscreen" mini fairing thing from an old double bubble sportbike windscreen
made seat pad with nice dense foam from used atv seat
Did some diy upholstery on my seat
painted the tank and tail with textured flat black
painted tank emblems with high gloss black
Engine side covers & head cover currently being painted satin wrinkle black
Painted fork lowers high gloss black
Installed mini battery & deleted electric start & all associated wiring

Going to be fabricating a custom 2-1 exhaust this summer, and probably throw on some better rubber (these tires are new, just hate them)

I've updated my costs in the original post.... Cant wait to rock the streets this spring!
