Default Stupid ticket

Thursday night I bought my newest car a 2005 dodge neon srt-4. The next day I got my tags for the car but couldn't put them on because the screws were on to tight an didn't have a screw driver. Got pulled over on the way to my buddies house for the tags. Showed the officer all my paperwork an the tags an everything was good. He then asked if I know the legal limit on window tint I told him yes an that I haven't had a chance to get mine chamge yet since I had just purchased it. He went an checked the % an it was 4% tint he proceeded to tell me that it's my fault an that I shouldn't have bought the car with such dark tint an not to be driving it since I knew it was illegal to be that dark. $85 I have to pay

Yeah, I drove around for a year and a half in my first camaro with 5% tint. Got pulled over by the same cop three times and never got anything more than a warning. Kinda bullshit that he wouldn't let this guy slide since he legitimately hadn't yet been able to remove it yet. Again, man, bring this thing out to the strip and me, some windex, and a razor blade will make quick work of that tint.

Did you purchase it from a private part or dealer? If dealer, I would go after then for the cost of the ticket. They sold you a car that was not street legal...

there are about 1,000 conceivable ways I can think of to remove window tint. paying to have it removed versus not doing it yourself is dumb

IIRC aren't tint tickets fix it tickets? If so, remove the tint, photograph the car, show up for your court date with proof, ticket gets dropped. PROFIT.

also, stop whining.

This.

However, I personally would pay the ticket and keep the tint.

Fuck the police.

YOLO!

Probably the same cop in this town who has a hard-on for cars without a front plate. I've been warned twice by him in the past, in two different cars. He's a nice guy, but he loves those front plates.

I'm pretty sure what car you drive makes world of difference for when you get pulled over. I've been pulled over twice with my current tint (Suntek Carbon 18%) and haven't heard a word about it. Sucks that they profile like that, and I used to get it a lot when I had my civic.

Yes, and no. The camaro I kept getting pulled over in was a 3rd gen z28 that was red, Red, RED with obnoxious flowmaster exhaust, again 5% tint. Yeah I got stopped a lot, but I never got any tickets, and they typically weren't dicks about anything. I think your record and the way you handle yourself while being stopped counts more than anything.

Helped my brother remove his tint on his GSR this way. The ticket was $105 for the windshield and $105 for the fronts. Didn't have to pay a dime. Just showed up to the highway patrol place off of 56 and a officer checked it out. But no more tint. Tint was like new too. This happened like 3 weeks ago in Olathe.

Oh yeah, he had to go over the entire windshield with a razor and alcohol since there was adhesive sticky crap all over. :/

Yeah, fuck that. I would just pay it and go on with life. They must stereotype a certain demographic, because I've never had any issues with window tint. Mine is usually 15-20% depending on the manufacturer.

I've heard of using a steamer, but didn't see any decent directions.

I definitely need to do this to the Cobra. Old-ass 35% tint is starting to look like shit. My main concern was the damn rear window with the defrost lines.
Last time I took off old tint, it took forever to get the gummy glue off.

I can't wait to get the new hood and wingless rear deck lid painted paired with a nice 20% tint.

Windex and a razor blade is the cheapest I think, but it is messy.

Always roll down both front windows when I get pulled, I also make sure to turn on all my interior lights. I have never had a police officer even question my tint. Will admit most the time they are too busy giving me an ear full about the dumb stunt I did that they pulled me for.
I agree with the others quit your bitchin, $85 would be the cheapest traffic stop I have experienced, minus a 5$ seat belt violation.

Darn I can't believe he got a ticket for the windshield on that thing, I had it tinted 50% so it wasn't that dark. That tint was only about a month old when he bought it. I had got pulled over before when it was tinted that way but never questioned on the windshield but questioned on the sides but he let me go for it cause he liked the car lol
