Default Anyone have comcast gig?

Doesn't anyone have comcast gig service yet? I have regular comcast 250mb service and google fiber's free 5mb service. I don't use the google fiber, it was just to get it piped in but im debating on switching to googles gig service or switch to comcast gig service since they offer it. Both are charging $70 a month, just not sure who i want to go with. If you have it, what speeds are you getting and did they run fiber in or is it over coax?

Google doesn't run fiber in your home, it is fiber to the box and mine is running over existing coax (iirc) everything was tested and cleaned up during the install , haven't had speed issues or anything

Do you mean Comcast doesn’t run fiber to the house? Google has fiber all the way into my garage from the street.

I meant "in" as in room to room all of it is to the house (to their Fiber jack)

I kind of made the joke about running it to all of the rooms etc

Edit: Do you know where Comcast has their connection point in the neighborhood? I know Google ran all their lines, there were rumors of AT&T running more lines in the same pipe as GF but that hasn't happened in my neighborhood.

I get ya. I didn't see the joke over the intrawebs.

So now im on the fence. I ordered the gig upgrade but I found out after i agreed that the download is like google fiber around 940-970mb download but the download is rated at 35mb with average upload speeds of 40mb. Plus they have a 1tb monthly data cap. $155 a month after tax, i get my normal 220+ plus channels and i would get showtime plus the sports package and a home phone. I don't care about the home phone but it was cheaper to bundle it in. I have 30 days to cancel once it’s installed.

or....I could switch to google fiber for $70 a month with no data cap, gig download and upload and I have an apple tv 4k (5th gen) and can stream DirecTV now services. Their $60 a month plan offers all channels except the starz package and the other channels like HBO which i don't use. I could get their $70 a month and get starz included. After tax with google fiber and the top tier directv now package, I would be about the same after tax. Im thinking of going this route but maybe their $60 package.
