Name doesn't ring a bell, but that doesn't mean that I haven't met him. lol. I've been a member out there for 2years now. Last time we were out there my buddy hit his tee shot from 16 up onto the gravel road coming in and we joked around with him and told him that he had to shoot the shot as it was. After we found out he was seriously going to play it off the gravel I told him I wanted to video it and he almost made the shot. It was pretty cool.

Since I suck at embedding here's the link to his shot.

I joked with him afterwards about all the trouble I went through to get out of my warm, covered cart to shoot the video and he didn't even make it. lol. It was a good shot though. I'm not sure if you can tell by the video but, it's about a 15ft drop to that green from where we were.

Patrick, we need to go out and play sometime.

During the summer i'll usually do about a round a week. Sometimes not quite that often, i usually have trouble finding someone to play with.

I have a King Cobra driver and hybrid. Love them. I can smash drives over 300 easily, and the thing sounds like a baseball bat cracking a ball. Leaves my ears ringing, lol.
Irons are just old dunlops, they kinda suck. Been wanting to get a decent set for a while.

My favorite courses are Painted and Sunflower. Heritage and Dubs are fun too.

I'm surprised we haven't done that already. I'd be down.

Mmm, golf. I do love me some golf. My wife plays as well. Lexi doesn't really post anymore, but she plays too.

I don't get the chance to play Painted very often, or Sunflower, but I do love going out there when I get the chance. Surprisingly I RARELY ever play Heritage, despite the fact that I live off of 135th in Olathe and it is just a touch closer to me than St. Andrews or OP. Well, OP West is closer. I've been an OP West gate jumper since my Dad cut me down my very first set of clubs. Honestly one of the best practice facilities in the immediate area. My best "area" of my game is within 100 yards of the green, and I credit OP West's facility and spending every day of the summer out there for years, for that.

I say we get it going this year personally. Maybe figure a schedule out in February or something. Don't have to get too specific but maybe make a couple outings that work for most people and within everyone's budget as well.

I love playing Painted Hills. That course is just fun to play. I've only played Sunflower a few times but I do love how its setup. Another nice course to play is Royal Meadows. They have bent grass fairways and it's fairly cheap to play.

I'd be down to have a KCSR golf outing. We could even do a little golf league if you guys wanted to. Like play once a week or twice a month and keep handicaps/scores.

I wish I didn't have to work today. I would have gone out and played. It's nice enough for me out there.

Bump for someone looking to get back in the game, i have played 6 rounds since college (2010 grad). I took courses on golf in college so i would call myself "proficient" in golf, upper 80's are a typical day, i would complain anything over a 95.

My profile is a bit odd, i am going to go to a pro shop to get something sooner than later, but looking to get past my 25 year old blades.

Profile:

6'-2"

235 lb, 34" waist

My swing is 100% a power swing, club head in excess of 103 on 5/6 drives in college classes, the other was 98mph.
I have zero knowledge of any current clubs or their benefits, but i am looking into graphite shaft cavity-backs to start with.

Budget is around $1k for the FULL set, 4-pw irons, driver, 3w 5w, and a few wedges (need help here, i know my favorite old club is my 56 degree, might just keep that for the laughs). I have a bag and modern putter that I like.

I like the look of the callaway razr x.

I am going to hit balls over the next week or two, anyone with recommendations or referrals of someone who can help me get fit for some clubs in the next few weeks? Looking to buy sooner rather than later.

Thanks all!

I honestly don't see anyone under 60 hitting graphite shafted irons. My dad has a set of burner. 1.0's with graphite shaft and I have some with iron shafts. I hate his clubs!

I'd go to Golfsmith and hit different ones. I know it's just into a net but it something. It's free and they don't care. Plus they have a nice selection of used clubs. Go to golfwrx.com for used equipment.

I am thinking about buying Mizuno JPX 800's sometime this year.

I see, well steel it is then, thought the advantage of graphite was that they were capable of being a bit stiffer, and i am looking for a pretty stiff shaft (lol).

Thanks for the advice.

I'm pretty sure steel is your best bet. I'm not a pro or anything but I do a shit Ton of reading online daily and I don't see anyone discuss graphite iron shafts.

You may consider looking into a Project x 6.0 shaft. That's a pretty stiff shaft.
