I've heard chase might go back to Nola. Would be interesting to see if he could find his groove there with Payton, maybe start during their transition from Brees.

Chase Daniel, not content with being the Eagles’ backup, signs with the Saints

Daniel asked for his release to pursue a starting role with New Orleans, but Drew Brees isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports Chase Daniel, one year removed from signing a three-year, $21 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles, is officially moving on to his next team. The longtime backup inked a deal with the New Orleans Saints, according to ESPN’s Adam Caplan.
Daniel was expected to compete with Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez for Philadelphia’s starting role last year, but the franchise took a sharp right turn from that quarterback platoon last April by trading for the No. 2 selection in the 2016 NFL Draft. While the move temporarily drained the team’s supply of picks, it also brought Rookie of the Year contender Carson Wentz into the fold.
But bringing in Wentz closed the door on Daniel’s chance to start. The Eagles traded away Bradford and Sanchez, leaving the veteran to serve as a backup and mentor to the first-year player. When the North Dakota State product got off to a hot start, it became clear Daniel would have few opportunities to make an impact in Philadelphia.
Those chances won’t get much better in New Orleans, unless Drew Brees falls to injury. At the owners’ meeting, Sean Payton said, “I think Drew plans on — I know he plans on playing two, three, four more years.”

That leaves the 30-year-old to join his fourth team as a pro. Daniel was an undrafted free agent after a productive and successful college career at Missouri. He spent his first three seasons backing up Brees and won a Super Bowl ring with the Saints, but left the team after attempting just nine passes in white and gold.
Free agency led him to Kansas City to back up Alex Smith. Daniel earned a pair of starts there thanks to injury, posting a 1-1 record, but underwhelmed behind center. His 78.6 passer rating with the club would have placed him 27th among qualified starters last year, sandwiched between Blake Bortles and Case Keenum. Regardless, those limited appearances were enough to convince the Eagles to take a $21 million flier on him.
His time in Philadelphia petered out after just one season, and now, it appears he’s got a one-year tryout with the Saints, the same team he began his career with in 2010.

Marshawn Lynch tells Raiders he intends to 'un-retire'

Someone will have to get Beast Mode's cleats down from the phone wire.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that Marshawn Lynch told the Oakland Raiders he intends to un-retire, per a source informed of the situation.

The news comes as Lynch met at the Raiders facility with coach Jack Del Rio. Rapoport previously reported that if Del Rio signs off on Lynch, it could lead to a comeback.
Lynch's desire to join his hometown team in Oakland is merely the first stage of the process. The running back's contract is still held by the Seattle Seahawks, who would have to release Lynch or work out a trade with the Raiders.
Speaking on KIRO-AM in Seattle on Wednesday, Seahawks general manager John Schneider said moving Lynch to Oakland would go "in a smooth manner," due to his relationship with Oakland general manager Reggie McKenzie, via the Seattle Times' Bob Condotta. Schneider added that Lynch would only want to return to play for the Raiders.
Beast Mode's connection to Oakland is deep, so it's understandable why the 30-year-old running back would want play for the Raiders.

For Oakland, adding Lynch would be a perfect fit. The Raiders lack a power back of Lynch's caliber after letting Latavius Murray walk in free agency. Pairing Lynch with jitterbugs DeAndre Washington and Jalen Richard would complete Oakland's backfield. With the running back trio, franchise quarterback Derek Carr on pace to return from injury and Amari Cooper and Michael Crabtree catching passes, the Raiders would own an offense to make a Super Bowl run.
The caveat to the pairing would be Lynch's ability to remain healthy after taking a year away from the NFL. In 2015, the bulldozing back missed nine games due to injury.
There are still several hurdles to leap before Lynch lands in Oakland, but Beast Mode's desire to return is a big first step.

St. Louis sues NFL, all 32 teams over Rams' move to LA

ST. LOUIS — The city of St. Louis and that region's sports authority are suing the National Football League over the Rams' relocation to Los Angeles.

The lawsuit filed Wednesday in St. Louis Circuit Court also names the NFL's 32 teams as defendants and seeks unspecified damages and restitution.
The lawsuit alleges the Rams failed to meet league relocation rules when leaving for Los Angeles before last season, constituting a contractual breach with St. Louis.
The NFL did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.
The lawsuit alleges that St. Louis has lost an estimated $1.85 million to $3.5 million each year in amusement and ticket tax collections, as well as roughly $7.5 million in property taxes. In total, the city will have lost more than $100 million in net proceeds.

Marshawn Lynch close to deal with Raiders

At last, the table is set for Marshawn Lynch to return to the NFL.
NFL Network's Michael Silver and Mike Garafolo reported Friday that the 30-year-old running back is nearing an agreement on a new contract with the Raiders.

Before he can join the team, a trade from Seattle to Oakland for Lynch's services still must be completed, as the Seahawks still hold his rights.
The swap itself is simply a formality at this stage, with both teams bound to quickly sort something out to pave the way for Lynch to suit up for the Silver and Black.
It's a union that's been talked about for weeks, with Lynch saying all along that the Raiders were his first and only choice.
In Oakland, he'll join a deep backfield that waved farewell to Latavius Murray, but boasts two talented young runners in Jalen Richard and DeAndre Washington.
Lynch retired during Super Bowl 50 and sat out all last year following an injury-plagued campaign with the Seahawks in 2015. Three years removed from a 1,000-yard season, it's fair to ask what the hard-hitting back still has left.
The Raiders believe it's enough to make a difference during an otherwise awkward final chapter or two in Oakland before the team ultimately departs east for Las Vegas.

Marshawn Lynch agrees to Raiders deal; teams to trade terms

If all goes according to plan, Marshawn Lynch will be a member of the Oakland Raiders by the end of Wednesday.
Lynch's representatives and the team have agreed to terms on a one-year contract and the Raiders and Seahawks have already hashed out the details of a trade that would send Lynch's rights to his hometown team, multiple sources informed of the progress of negotiations on both ends of the deal have told NFL.com.

The draft compensation will be a swap of late-round picks in 2018.
The only thing standing in the way of the five-time Pro Bowl running back's return is for him to take a physical with the Raiders. Two sources said the team expects Lynch to take the physical Wednesday after he returns to the Bay Area from his trip to Haiti, where he and his former Seahawks teammates Cliff Avril and Michael Bennett have been touring the country to help build schools and houses.
Lynch was slated to be back in the country on Tuesday but didn't catch his flight.
As is nearly always the case with Lynch, nothing is done until it's done. All parties involved were wary of celebrating a deal until Lynch sets foot on the mainland and meets with those necessary to complete a deal. But at this point, sources directly involved in the situation are confident it'll get done.
The Raiders and Lynch have, in recent days, agreed to terms on a contract for the 2017 season. After weeks of negotiation, Oakland agreed to pay Lynch $3 million base, with a chance to make $2 million more if he gains 1,000 yards.
The max value of the contract is $8.5 million.
Why a swap of late-round picks in the future? A source said both teams didn't want any uncertainty surrounding this year's picks so close to the start of the draft.
Lynch is also required -- eventually, but not immediately -- to file papers to unretire.
As soon as Lynch completes the physical, it will cap off months of speculation about his return. He met with the Raiders on April 5 and expressed his desire to play for them. He told them he only wants to play for his hometown team in what amounted to a recruiting visit.
"I think it would be awesome just to have him around," quarterback Derek Carr told NFL Network's Steve Wyche two weeks ago. "He's a great teammate from everyone that I've talked to from the couple of Seahawks that we've had on our team. They love him.”
If all goes according to plan today, Carr will find out.

Raiders Finalize Purchase of 62-Acre Las Vegas Stadium Site

Ross D. Franklin/Associated Press
The Oakland Raiders have taken their next step in the move to Las Vegas, purchasing 62 acres of land for the stadium, per Richard N. Velotta of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The area, next to the Mandalay Bay resort and west of Interstate 15, reportedly cost $77.5 million.
The organization is expected to open the new stadium in time for the 2020 NFL season, although the team might make the move to Nevada by 2019.
In a vote at the March league meeting, 31 of the 32 NFL owners approved the Raiders' relocation plans to Las Vegas. The team is set to build a $1.7 billion stadium, financed partly by the team, Bank of America and $750 million from tax revenues.
The latest financial move takes the team one step closer to completing the relocation from Oakland.

Broncos Insider Thinks Star Free Agent Pickup Might Not Make Roster

This offseason, the running back market took a hit, despite the big name backs available. Charles' stock took a hit, but he found a suitor earlier this month.

The Denver Broncos signed Charles to a one-year, $3.75 million contract. Despite it only being a one-year deal, it is not a guarantee that Charles even makes the regular season roster.

According to Broncos insider Mike Klis of NBC 9 News in Colorado, Charles has a "50-50 chance" to make the team.
"The Broncos brought in the great Jamaal Charles but because of his knee injuries, I’d put his chances of making the season-opening roster at 50-50," said Klis. "His low-guarantee, one-year minimum contract with heavy incentives suggests doubts as to whether he can make it -- but it’s a risk worth taking."

Klis does bring up good points. Charles has had multiple knee injuries throughout his nine year career, which is a valid reason as to why many teams did not want to take a long-term or short-term chance with Charles.
The signing was odd, considering the Broncos already crowded backfield. C.J. Anderson is the lead back, with second-year running back Devontae Booker and rookie sixth round draft pick De'Angelo Henderson as backups.

Klis brought up the other backs on the team as well and how it could effect the landscape of the backfield.

"If Charles proves healthy, Booker and Henderson may well compete for that game-day No. 3 running back slot," said Klis. "There won’t be four game-day tailbacks..."

When taking this into consideration, it does appear that the 50-50 odds are legitimate, considering Charles' injury history and the performance of the other Broncos running backs.

Charles' status will be one to keep an eye on throughout training camp and the preseason this summer.
