Diaz deserves to get paid more than 40k per fight....he should easily be banking in a few hundred thousand per fight. People always tune in to watch him and he always brings the fight. Never pulls out of a fight because of injury

Just pointing out boxing fucks the average guy, way more than the UFC does.

You have no idea what Diaz made for the fight... and McGregor is bragging about $7million which would be insane if true.

They got fucked on the sponsorship thing a year ago... but outside of that, most of the UFC fighters get great pay and benefits. It's where all the fighters hope some day they'll be.

The thing about Conor fighting up 2 weight classes is overblown. It was 2 LWs fighting who didn't cut weight. Conor's power just doesn't translate well when he's not fighting smaller guys. Plus the Diaz brothers have granite chins. I'm surprised Conor really thought he could put Nate out in one round. That is pretty ridiculous.

I honestly thought Nate was going to lose. I bet on Chad when he took the Conor fight on short notice and after Chad gassed so quick, I decided to never bet on a short notice fighter again. Plus, Nate seemed to have the attitude of just showing up for a paycheck like he did against RDA.

I felt like Conor lost the mental game and got cocky. After he got his bell rung he was too focused on coming off like he was fine and started taking hits he couldn't afford to take.

I'm also thinking of when the fighters retire. Nate Diaz has taken a lot of abuse over the years. I highly doubt that he has enough money to retire...although with all of his fights you think that the UFC would have compensated him enough to help him out with retirement. Nobody is really looking out for these fighters for when they are done fighting. I know it's their own responsibility to look out for themselves but I feel like the UFC should have some kind of program to help these fighters make good decisions to set them up for retirement

This fight highlighted the fact that Connor takes risks we should all be taking.
Remember when GSP was supposed to move up and fight silva?
That never happened because nobody wanted to take risks and be out of their comfort zone.

Take away all the talk amd hype.
I greatly respect his willingness to step up and take the risk.
We could all learn something about being wiling to take risks in our own lives.

For that kind of money I'd hop the fence at the zoo and smack a gorilla in his dick suckers and just pray he didn't kill me.

While I think I get what you are trying to say, other than the money I'm not seeing where this will have helped his career.

While it does not really make me look at him as any less of a fighter, it's definitely chipped away at his unbeatable mystique, and that could take away from his ability to use the mental games in his future fights.

Risks should always be weighed against the reward.

He already had 2 losses before this fight... so he never had the unbeatable mystique.

Like six years ago bro.

He has been on a run, and looked very hard to stop.

I really hope the actions of BJ Penn and Connor McGreggor inspire other fighters to step out of their immediate weight class to make interesting fights happen.

I say say confidently that a GSP vs Silva fight 6 years ago would have been the biggest PPV buy + Gate the UFC would ever have.

Champions of weight classes fighting needs to happen more often. Not every 10 years.

Its a win for every party involved.
-The fans WANT to see it
-Bigger PPV buys
-More $ more for the UFC
-Bigger purses for fighters

So you want to see big guys beat the shit out of smaller guys, and pay for it?

It's what will happen the majority of the time, especially if they are stepping up for just one fight.

One weight class up or down is reasonable.

Doesnt have to be a freak show like UFC 1:
Something went wrong. Please make sure you added the video correctly.

Honestly, those 2 serve as a warning as to why you should stick to your weightclass. BJ got his ass whooped at WW a few times late in his career and Conor got whooped his first time going up in weight. Not exactly a good blueprint to inspire people to take unneeded risks. BJ should have stayed at LW and his career might have had a resurgence after his 2 losses to Frankie.

All this weight class talk as being an excuse is rather annoying. Yes the fight was sanctioned at 170lbs; however, Diaz is a 155lb fighter who felt that he didn't have the time to make the proper weight cut to take the fight at 155. Now if Connor fought Rory or Robbie then yes it would have been a legit 2 weight class jump. In all reality if Connor wasn't so cocky the fight would have been a catch weight at 160lbs as stated by himself, Dana and multiple others.

Also I wouldn't say McGregor was 'on a tear and looked very hard to stop'. He was getting wrestle fucked by Mendes before he gassed. Not saying thats an excuse for why he won but after this fight is clearly shows that Connor has no ground game, period.
