Our cost through my wifes hospital only went up 3 bucks a paycheck for the family plan. But to get the good coverage we have to go there. Only downside is they will send the kids to childrens mercy for anything major which would cost a decent chunk of money. Goes from a 500 deductible and 10% co insurance to a 1500 and 30% co insurance

Damn so even through a hospital you guys are getting screwed. TRIPLE the deductible and co-insurance for effectively the same premium. Damn.

We are hitting our 9k out of pocket maximum this year. Looking at premiums and the cost of care, the annual premiums paid are a steal in comparison to the cost of care. We are looking at 300-400k in medical bills...maybe more.

One night in Neuro ICU at Shawnee Mission was billed at 17k and that was not including all the diagnostics. We were then transferred and had 5 more nights at St Luke's, two angiograms, two MRIs and then released to come back for c section, 10 days NICU for the baby, craniotomy for the wife and another couple days in Neuro ICU.

As much as we can complain about the cost of insurance and its lack of affordability...trust me...it can be worse.

Never listen to the "if only you were healthy" argument. It's bullshit. Anything can happen at anytime to anyone no matter how healthy you are.

Fuck me brother... had no idea all you guys went through. That's awful. Hopefully all is well.

Yep, I used to not understand people bitching about health insurance/costs. Married a type 1 diabetic, now have a possibly slightly autistic child with hypotonia... it's unreal. Thinking of your whole family man.

Currently pay - $376.90 for a family plan (PPO with Blue Cross) per pay period (26) = so just shy of $10,000 in premiums in a 12 month period.

Next plan year - Expected renewal will push my family plan to $508.82 (PPO with Blue Cross) per pay period (26) = so around $13,200 in premiums in a 12 month period.

Fucking ridiculous and unsustainable.

Feel ya man... yep. $543 per pay period, first one came out of this check. Was a bad check anyway (I'm all commission)... with that I worked the past two weeks for about $7/hr. Granted I know this isn't a normal check... but fuck.

If it's an ACA approved plan (meaning you don't have to pay the obamacare tax) max insurance company limits went away.
