Warner Bros. has hired two screenwriters for an upcoming Aquaman solo film. The film will be one of nine upcoming DC adventures and will likely star former Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa in the lead role. Come check it out!

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Warner Bros. has hired screenwriters Will Beall (Gangster Squad) and Kurt Johnstad (300) to pen two separate scripts for an upcoming Aquaman film. The film will be one of the nine upcoming installments after Batman v. Superman that will help shape DC's Cinematic Universe. The film is being developed on dual tracks, meaning that two scripts will be written, one by Beall and one by Johnstad, but only the best version will move forward.

A week ago, Warner Bros announced nine upcoming DC projects, the earliest of which comes August 5, 2016, a few months after their most ambitious DC adventure, Batman v. Superman. Based on this news, there is a good chance Aquaman may take this spot. However, accounting for unforeseen issues, 2017 may be the better bet as WB already has two DC releases set for June 23 and November 17.

No definitive word on the cast yet, but Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones) has been confirmed/rumored to be making a cameo as Arthur Curry/Aquaman in Batman v. Superman. He'll likely reprise the role in this solo adventure.

Have you recovered from that onslaught of lovely DC movie news yet? Well, don't get too comfortable because we might have some more interesting titbits for you concerning that planned 2018 solo Aquaman movie. The Aquaman Shrine Twitter page reckons they've found out which other characters will join Jason Momoa's titular hero on the big screen: There's long-time baddie Black Manta, Aquaman's treacherous brother Orm, aka Ocean Master, Queen of Atlantis and love interest Mera, and also the carnivorous undersea race known as The Trench, who were introduced in the first Aquaman New 52 run. Sounds like 'ol Arthur Curry is going to have his hands full!

In other news, the site also reports that Jeff Nichols is seemingly going to direct Aquaman, the 2018 movie starring Jason Momoa. Nichols' credits include critically acclaimed releases like Mud and Take Shelter, and he actually seems like the perfect fit for what you have to imagine will be a visually very distinct movie. It's not clear if this is 100% confirmed as of right now. Thoughts?

Jeff Nichols & Noam Murro On AQUAMAN Director List; Karl Urban Wanted For Role?

Some news for you Aqua-fans now, as two new names have emerged to possibly sit the director's chair when the King of Atlantis swims into theaters for his own solo flick. Plus, word is that Star Trek actor Karl Urban is being looked at, possibly to play the villain.

It's been a while since we've heard anything on the Aquaman front, but now Latino Review have provided a few juicy details on who might just take the helm of Arthur Curry's solo movie in 2018. According to them both Jeff Nichols (Take Shelter, MUD) and Noam Murrow (300: Rise Of An Empire) are the directors Warner Bros' are looking at to guide Jason Momoa through the perilous depths. Both have very different filmmaking styles, but that might fit with what the site are also hearing about 2 different scripts doing the rounds. As far as casting goes, word is that WB are waiting for Star Trek 3 to finish production because they are interested in Karl Urban (DREDD) for an "unspecified supporting role", which could well be the villain, Ocean Master.

I think Nichols is a very inteetsing choice, but considering I named the 300 sequel as one of my worst films of 2014, I'm a tad less enthusiastic about Murro! What do you guys think?

More From Jason Momoa On Portraying AQUAMAN, Diversity, And Being In JUSTICE LEAGUE

The actor who's set to portray Aquaman of the DC Cinematic Universe, reiterates why he's excited to be playing King of the Seas over the next four years while getting to represent his culture and more.

Given that, for almost a year, Jason Momoa had to dance around countless questions surrounding his cameo as Aquaman in the highly-anticipated Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it's always a pleasure to now hear the actor talk passionately about portraying the DC character; even he's saying the same thing over and over again. Therefore, his recent interview with The Daily Beast is no exception as Momoa reiterates why he's excited for the Aquaman role which will span at least four years. “It’s awesome as an actor to know what your future is going to be because I have children and I’ve busted my ass to put food on the table,” he said. “It’s awesome knowing that I’m going to be in Justice League because my son is the biggest Batman fan and my daughter loves Wonder Woman. It’ll be cool for them to see me in something because they’re not going to be watching Game of Thrones or Red Road anytime soon, but now they can see Daddy kicking ass in IMAX.” On bringing diversity to superheroes, Jason Momoa continued, “I’ve had to bust ass to be in this industry. A lot of things are very black and white,” he says. “Aquaman is especially cool because being a Kanaka Maoli—being Hawaiian—our Gods are Kanaloa and Maui, and the Earth is 71 percent water, so I get to represent that. And I’m someone who gets to represent all the islanders, not some blond-haired superhero. It’s cool that there’s a brown-skinned superhero.” When the Daily Beast mentioned the irony that Momoa's first major acting role was as a lifeguard in Baywatch Hawaii, the actor laughed before saying, “It’s a trip. I spent 15 years trying to dig myself out of the Baywatch hole, and now I’m Aquaman. Life is very good.” What do you think?

SPOILER WARNING: Here's What 'Aquaman' Gets Up To In BATMAN v SUPERMAN

Following the reveal of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's Aquaman by director Zack Snyder last night, we now have some details on the role that the King of the Seven Seas will play in the movie, and it sounds minor to say the least. Hit the jump for all of the spoilery details...

Badass Digest have a piece up looking at the possible meaning behind that "Unite The Seven" tag on the Aquaman character image released by Zack Snyder last night (the popular theories are that it either refers to the seven members of the Justice League or the Seven Seas), but they also drop some interesting Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice details. In the shooting script they claim to have seen, Aquaman has only a very small role, making it all the more surpising that an official look at the character would be released over a year before the release of the movie itself.

The site reveals that "Aquaman is barely even present, showing up only in a survey of metahumans by Lex Luthor and then again at the very ending, when Batman recruits him for the Justice League." They add that The Flash also has only a very small role, something we've heard a number of times in the past. What's interesting about this information (if true) is that Lex Luthor will know of the world's superpowered individuals - using him to introduce them to moviegoers makes sense - and that it's Batman who puts together the Justice League. What do you guys think?

BATMAN v SUPERMAN: Just How Close To The Comics Is Jason Momoa's 'Aquaman' Look?

Zack Snyder has unveiled the first official image of Jason Momoa as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's Aquaman. It's created a lot of debate, with many fans arguing that it's nothing like the comic books. Really? Hit the jump for an analysis of his big screen appearance...

What exactly were people expecting from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice's Aquaman? There were rumblings of a surfer look at one point, while Jason Momoa also teased a slightly different appearance for the iconic member of the Justice League. We now know what he looks like thanks to director Zack Snyder, and the comic book inspirations are clear to see, despite some fans (who have clearly only seen the clean cut version in "The New 52") claiming otherwise. Read on for our look at how the movie and comic book takes on Aquaman link up as well as what inspired Snyder.

There is only one true King. #unitetheseven pic.twitter.com/RDFG8jbuI6

The Hair/Beard

"The New 52" Aquaman may have a clean cut look, but the character has been portrayed with a far rougher appearance over the years too, with long hair and a beard a big part of Peter David's acclaimed run in the '90s (though that version was without one of his hands). Had someone like Ryan Gosling been cast as Arthur Curry, the classic Aquaman look might have worked, but this style arguably suits Momoa perfectly. Were they right to choose this appearance though?

The Scales

Regardless of who played Aquaman, they would have probably looked more than a big daft wearing those bright orange scales! However, the tattoos and armour on Momoa's arms definitely resembles that classic appearance, and at least pay homage to what's come before. Those on his neck and stomach don't ring any bells, while the strap going across his chest could be there for him to put his trident into on his back when he's not fighting (and to keep some of that armour on). It's also clearly there to pay homage to his '90s look as you can see from the first image in this article.

The Gloves

There's not much to say about these, but the big screen gloves are obviously gone! However, the shape of his armour in that area definitely seem to pay homage to them in a very small way at least.

The Belt

Despite looking a little more worn and not quite so golden bright, the logo on Aquaman's belt looks like it's been torn straight from the pages of the comic books. There have been variations of it over the years, but this one doesn't appear to take any inpiration from one particular comic. At least it's not literally the shape of an "A" anyway. Not including it at all likely would have upset fans.

The Trunks

Well, are they trunks or trousers? We obviously can't see, but them going right down to the bottom of his legs seems likely (the black trunks over the green have thankfully been ditched). The colouring in the photo makes it hard to say for sure, but they definitely appear to be green, another thing which sticks pretty close to the comics! Now, if only we could see those boots of his...

The Trident

Aquaman's trident has been portrayed in a number of different ways over the years - it's something often left up to the artist's interpretations - but this version definitely appears to stick to the basic design seen in the comic books. It's a lot more realistic looking and intricate though, and like the rest of Aquaman's attire, looks pretty worn and beaten up. It's hard to say whether or not it's gold.

Jason Momoa Talks AQUAMAN Poster Reveal, MAN OF STEEL Cameo, JUSTICE LEAGUE, And More

Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa talks in detail here about Zack Snyder's big Aquaman reveal, addresses speculation that we met his character in Man of Steel, delves into just how much action we'll get to see him take part in in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and much more...

Last night came and went without another Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice character poster reveal from director Zack Snyder, so it appears as if we won't see anything more from the movie for a while now. Regardless, when Entertainment Weekly recently caught up with Aquaman himself - Jason Momoa - the site quizzed the actor on that and his role in the DC Cinematic Universe as the King of the Seven Seas. There are lots of very interesting details in the highlights below, so check them out and the be sure to share your thoughts in the usual place. Bring on Justice League...

On His Reaction To The "Unite The Seven" Aquaman Poster Reveal:
That was a shocker for sure. It was supposed to be a surprise in 2016, so it definitely helps [our show]. I’ve been holding that secret for a long time. Zack Snyder called me up and said, “I’m posting this picture now.” He’s just a genius and I love him to death. He sent it over and we’re in the middle of the editing suite for the thing I’m doing right now, and we all freaked out, man. It was so amazing to see it come out.

On Whether He's Shot Any Action Scenes For Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice:

No, we haven’t done too much on the action yet. You know, Justice League is still quite a ways away. But I’m looking forward to it. Henry’s a sweetheart, Ben is a badass, so I’m really looking forward to when we all shoot Justice League.

On How Big His Batman v Superman Role Actually Is:

Well, it’s Batman and Superman, it’s not my movie. It’s the first time in history to have them both on the screen together, and I’m just excited to see those two up there.

On Wheher He Believes That Aquaman's Presence Was Felt In Man Of Steel:

Well, you know, I think that’s left for the genius of Snyder to kind of reveal that. There’s definitely a plan in this whole universe that he’s designing, and it’s amazing to be a part of it. I think everything that you see that is building, there’s a purpose behind the whole plan. So I wouldn’t want to take anything away from Zack, because he loves revealing all those things. And… you never know, man.

On How He Feels To Bring The Character To The Big Screen:
Oh, absolutely. The whole mythology of Aquaman is pretty amazing. There’s so many things to tell, and there’s a whole backstory that’s just amazing. There’s a lot of surprises coming. I think, yeah, he’s been cast aside. But, um [laughs] times are going to change now, buddy. Conan was really hard, because you have 15 different types of fans and so many things to respect and honor. To do it right it’s got to be bloody-bloody-bloody-bloody-bloody, and not a lot of people go see that anymore. It’s not the ’80s anymore. It’s a really hard format. We busted ass, but there were a lot of cooks in the kitchen on that one. What’s great about this is Zack, man. We don’t want to just reinvent it, but he’s a got a whole idea of what Aquaman should be and I’m really honored to be playing it. I’m excited for the world to see it.

On Whether He Can Still Fit The Red Road Around His DC Schedule:

I would love to. What’s great about it is we shoot six episodes in less than two months; it can totally fit in there. I would love to do two more seasons. Kopus is an amazing character to play. I’m going to direct my own stuff, work on Red Road, and obviously, I’m excited about kicking some ass on the DC Films. It’s fun to be able to dress up and go play a superhero. It’s a pretty choice job. And to be able to honor my native culture is another badass thing. I’m definitely living the dream right now.

Jason Momoa Talks AQUAMAN Costume And Offers JUSTICE LEAGUE Script Update

Former Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa talks here about what it was like to suit up as Aqauman for the first time and provides an update on the current status of 2017's Justice League. Perhaps we should think twice about believe any of those so called scoops about it! Read on for details...

In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice star Jason Momoa was asked about reprising the role of Aquaman in 2017's Justice League Part One, and while we've heard a few reports about who and what will appear in that movie, it sounds like it's still in the VERY early stages of development. "Justice League is quite a ways off," the actor said. "We don't have scripts and stuff like that. I'll bring my professionalism there. I'll bring my sense of humor. Hopefully people will like that. If they don't I'll modify it." That sounds like an interesting approach, but not half as interesting as the very unique look he could be seen sporting in the first official image Tweeted out by director Zack Snyder not too long ago. "Michael [Wilkinson], the head costume designer, he created all of that," Momoa revealed. "I basically just showed up and he made it happen. And It's all Zack, through his genius mind. I'm going to be in one of the biggest movies in history in a minute, playing a superhero. And I have kids so that's cool. My kids can finally see something that I'm in."

FURIOUS 7 Director Is The Frontrunner To Helm AQUAMAN For Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. has found a director for Wonder Woman and possibly The Flash, but it now appears as if they've got a helmer for Aquaman too. The success of Furious 7 has led to James Wan becoming a frontrunner, but what might stop him taking the job? Read on for details...

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that James Wan has emerged as the frontrunner to direct Aquaman for Warner Bros. The filmmaker has become a hot commodity following the release of Furious 7 (which is closing in on $400 million), and he does have an option for the eighth instalment if Universal decides to exercise that or he simply decides he wants to return the world of fast cars, beautiful women, and insane stunts. There are those who believe he won't for whatever reason.

Regardless, he's the frontrunner with Warner Bros. and some talks have already taken place between Wan and the studio. As of right now, Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad are still writing separate scripts for the project. Wan will next shoot the sequel The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist, and does have some time before he would need to start work on Aquaman (which is set to be released on July 27th, 201. Previous credits include Saw, the first two Insidious movies, and The Conjuring.

OFFICIAL: James Wan Will Direct Both AQUAMAN And ROBOTECH

The man who directed the highest grossing film of the year is set to direct Warner Bros.' upcoming DC cinematic universe entry Aquaman! James Wan has officially closed deals to direct both the Jason Momoa-starrer and Sony's Robotech. Come check it out!

Ever since Furious 7 managed to gross over $1.5 billion dollars (and counting) at the worldwide box office, James Wan has been an extremely wanted man in Hollywood. Multiple studios were rumored to be pursuing him for a variety of projects, the most prominent of which was Warner Bros.' DC adaptation Aquaman.

Well, after weeks of speculation, it's official.

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Wan has officially closed his deal with WB to develop and direct Aquaman, which will star Jason Momoa (Game Of Thrones) as the titular hero. He'll also oversee the development of the script, which is currently being written by Kurt Johnstad (300). In addition to closing the Aquaman deal, Wan also simultaneously closed his deal with Sony to direct Robotech, an adaptation of the popular 1980s anime of the same name.

Don't expect Wan to get started on either of these projects for a while as he is currently committed to directing New Line Cinema's The Conjuring 2: The Endfield Experiment and is expected to be unavailable until at least mid-2016. Aquaman isn't expected to swim into theaters until July 27, 2018, so there will be ample time for Wan to pick up that project sometime late next year or early 2017.

James Wan Set To Direct ‘Aquaman,’ Read The First Plot Description [UPDATED]

UPDATE 6/3/15 Warner Bros. has now confirmed that Wan will direct Aquaman. He’s also set to direct Robotech, which was recently rumored. Read the full press release after the jump.
We know that Jason Momoa will appear as Aquaman in Batman v Superman, and that the actor will star in an Aquaman spin-off film scheduled for release on July 27, 2018. Now it looks like James Wan, who just had a huge success with Furious 7, is in line to be the Aquaman director, at least if Warner Bros. gets its wish.

UPDATE: Here’s the full press release on the James Wan Aquaman director news, along with a plot description, which we’ve bolded:
Warner Bros. Pictures announced today that director James Wan (“Furious Seven,” “The Conjuring”) will take the helm of the Studio’s upcoming Aquaman feature film, with Jason Momoa (“Game of Thrones”) starring as the sea-dwelling Super Hero. The announcement was made today by Greg Silverman, President, Creative Development and Worldwide Production, Warner Bros. Pictures.
Silverman stated, “We’ve been so lucky to have worked with James, first on New Line’s ‘The Conjuring’ and now on their upcoming ‘The Conjuring 2,’ and are thrilled to have him on board as we continue to expand our DC slate. The Aquaman film will be a major tentpole picture for us and James’s span of work has proven him able to take on any manner of project, bringing his incredible creative talent and unique voice to the material.”
Wan will also be supervising the script by Kurt Johnstad (“300,” “300: Rise of an Empire”). The film is being produced by Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder and Zack Snyder.

Roven said, “James is not only a great storyteller but can make action truly explode on the big screen, and Jason has a dynamic presence that commands your attention. Together, they will bring an undeniable vitality and energy to this character as he headlines his first feature film.”
An icon for over 70 years, Aquaman is the King of the Seven Seas. This reluctant ruler of Atlantis, caught between a surface world constantly ravaging the sea and Atlanteans looking to lash out in revolt, is committed to protecting the entire globe.
Currently set for a 2018 release, the film is based on characters appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment.
Original article from April follows:
Wan has worked with Warners before, as the director did The Conjuring, released by New Line, and is attached to make that film’s sequel. When that deal was announced, Toby Emmerich of New Line said,
James will make an important movie for New Line and Warner Bros or DC, and that is definitely part of the plan, and a reason for bringing him into the family. He’s the only overall director with a deal here, because we see him as a class of one.
Now it looks like Aquaman is that “important movie” that WB wants Wan to make. There are potential problems, however. One is the possibility of Wan returning to the Fast and Furious franchise — there is no plan set in stone at this point for an eighth film in that series, but we know one is going to happen, and Universal may want Wan to make it.
Then there’s also the plan for Wan to direct the Conjuring sequel; he’s set to start that this fall.
Aquaman has three years until release, and is currently being developed at the script stage by two different writers, Will Beall and Kurt Johnstad. Can Wan do the Conjuring sequel and also make Aquaman? Absolutely. But THR, in the report announcing WB’s interest in him as Aquaman director, suggests WB wants to ge

Jason Momoa Says There Will Be A Bit Of Orange And Green In AQUAMAN Costume

The previously released promotional image of Jason Momoa as Aquaman may not be how the character actually looks in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and future installments in the DCEU. Will he don a variation of the traditional orange and green threads from the comics?

Aquaman actor Jason Momoa is expected to make a cameo appearance in Zack Snyder's Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice. This cameo is a precursor to the aquatic superhero''s expanded role in Justice League and a solos Aquaman movie. Speaking to The Robots Voice at The Joshua Tree International Film Fest, Momoa teased that the costume shown in the previously released promo image may not be the one Momoa wears later on in the DCEU. "Well, there might be some bit of orange and green. A bit of respect to prior work, but I think he is meaner now and upset – look at what has been done to our oceans. That’s his world that has been polluted."

Momoa also confirmed that he's already been scanned for collectible figures for Batman v Superman. As far as his color comments go, it's not hard to imagine his armor and pants containing a bit of an orange and green hue. There's also the chance that when Momoa has an expanded role in Justice League: Part One, he won't be running around without a shirt and he'll receive an aquatic-themed tunic of some sort. But we also don't know what version of Aquman will be shown in BvS: DoJ. Is it the Arthur Curry who is ignorant of his Atlantic heritage or a Curry that's already been crowned king? Could Momoa's royal garb be more in line with the traditional orange and green threads from the comics?

Jason Momoa Researching New 52 For AQUAMAN Role; Asks Fans To "Keep An Open Mind"

The former Game Of Thrones star sat down for a Q&A at Dallas Comic-Con recently and shared a few interesting new tidbits about his upcoming turn as the King of Atlantis in the DCEU. If you weren't a fan of his look for the character, you might want to prepare for more alterations...

When Jason Momoa's Aquaman was unveiled for the first time, some fans were not best pleased with how different he looked from his comic book counterpart. Though it seems to have grown on a lot of people, from the sounds of things there are going to be a few more changes to get used to.

When the Conan The Barbarian actor appeared at Dallas Comic-Con he was quizzed about his take on the character and, though he couldn't go into too much detail, he did reveal that he's been researching the New 52 version of Aquaman, but that fans should "keep an open mind" about some of the "new things" they'll be doing for his big-screen outing.
“So, there’s not really a lot of spoilers I can give away. But the research I’ve done on the New 52 stuff with Geoff Johns, and just researching who he is, he’s amazing. He’s got a lot of powers. He’s extremely tough. He’s super strong. But I’m excited about... there’s a big beautiful map laid out and I wish I could carry it with me. It’ll come out soon enough and you’ll see just how big it’s going to be.”
Momoa went on to reiterate what an honor it was for him to be able to portray this character. You can check out the full video of the Q&A below. What do you think will be the most significant alteration to the comic book incarnation of Aquaman we'll be seeing?

WB Hires Screenwriter David Leslie Johnson To Work On Aquaman

Warner Brothers went fishing for a new screenwriter to work on their upcoming Aquaman live-action film and they came away with David Leslie Johnson, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Aquaman, which will star Jason Momoa in the title role and be directed by The Conjuring's James Wan, had to two separate scripts written by WillBeall and KurtJohnstad. So why is David Leslie Johnson being reeled in? "One source said that Johnson would be a third rail on the development track however several sources said Johnson is working with Wan to streamline the project," THR reports. "Warners had no comment."
Johnson recently worked with Wan as he wrote the screenplay to The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist sequel, which Wan is currently filming. He also penned screenplays for Red Riding Hood (2011), Wrath of the Titans (2012) and the upcoming Dungeons & Dragons movie.

harles Roven On Hiring James Wan For AQUAMAN And Where The Script Currently Is

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice producer Charles Roven talks here about how work on Aquaman is progressing, weighing in on the decision to hire Furious 7 helmer James Wan and where things currently stand with the movie's screenplay. Read on for details...

When James Wan made the jump from horror movies to blockbuster filmmaking with Furious 7, he ended up delivering one of the highest grossing releases of all-time. It's no wonder then that Warner Bros. are confident in his ability to deliver with Aquaman then, and producer Charles Roven had this to say in an interview with Collider about why they decided to choose him. "That’s a perfect example—him and [David] Ayer, and Patty [Jenkins], they’re perfect examples of what I’m talking about, to bring people in. Fertile creative minds who can say, ‘Okay, we get the road map, now let’s talk about doing this or doing that.’ It’s fun to have that flexibility and yet commonality." However, with Wan hard at work on The Conjuring 2, could that delay Aquaman?

"We’re very early days," Roven said in regards to the current state of the screenplay. "We’re just starting with the screenplay. He’s makingThe Conjuring 2 now, so he’s had his hand in the creation of let’s just call it a working document from which to write. But he’s directing that film [and] he’s got his hand ever so slightly in the development, but he’s really gonna throw himself into it after he finishes shooting Conjuring 2. And we’re planning on it being his film after Conjuring 2. He is a serious Aquaman fan." Aquaman is still well over two and a half years away, so chances are that we won't be getting any firm updates for a while, but this is sounding good...

'Ocean Master' Rumored For AQUAMAN Villain; New Details On 'Mera' Casting

Many fans assumed it'd be Black Manta giving the King of Atlantis headaches in the solo Aquaman movie, but a new report suggests it'll actually be his half-brother Orm. Plus, we have new info. on the role Mera will play, and the ethnicity of the actresses being looked at...

Though we recently found out that it's still very early days on James Wan's solo Aquaman movie, JoBlo reckon they've come across some new details on the villain of the piece, and the King of Atlantis' lady love, Mera. According to them the baddie won't be Black Manta as many speculated it would be, but Ocean Master: Aquaman's half brother, Orm Marius. Apparently what goes down between the pair "will be reminiscent of the comic struggles of the duo in a brother-vs-brother fight for the throne of Atlantis."

We recently heard a rumor that Mera would actually be introduced in the first Justice League movie and that she'd be set up as the "Khaleesi of the sea", and JoBlo claim to have confirmed the second part, at least. They describe this big-screen take on the character as "a force to be reckoned with", and suggest she'll share the screen with Jason Momoa much the same way Charlize Theron did with Tom Hardy in Mad Max: Fury Road. They've also heard that Warner Bros. are looking to cast a "non-white" actress in the role, which would certainly make a change from the usual red-headed Caucasian depiction of Mera in the comics.

Thoughts? All of this is subject to change of course, but JoBlo are definitely more hit than miss with their scoops so it's definitely worth paying attention to. Aquaman hits theaters in 2018.

The New 52 Aquaman books are truly great reads. The art is great. The reimagining of his character, with the wit, the arrogance, the hard nose, no nonsense attitude and the power he's displaying in the comic is all top notch.

Not the Aquaman we all think he is.

Amber Heard Reportedly In Talks To Play 'Mera' In JUSTICE LEAGUE & AQUAMAN

Jason Momoa's 'Aquaman' may have just found his 'Mera'. According to a new report from Variety, Magic Mike XXL and 3 Days To Kill star Amber Heard is in talks for the role of Orin's flame-haired wife - and she'll first appear in Zack Snyder's Justice League!

It looks like Warner Bros have found their Queen of the Seas! According to a report from Variety, The Rum Diary and Magic Mike XXL star Amber Heard is currently "in talks" to star alongside Jason Momoa's Aquaman as 'Mera'. The site's sources claim that she will first appear in Justice League (as previously rumored), before going on to star in James Wan's Aquaman solo feature in 2018.

Heard is a talented actress who's delivered a number of underrated supporting turns, not least in last year's Magic Mike XXL. Nothing seems set in stone at the moment, but if this casting were to go ahead, do you like the sound of it? As always, be sure to sound off with your thoughts below!
