Default Old man bike time

Finally snagged a KLR yesterday, pretty excited for some adventure riding. Its not perfect, but that made it cheap and its a KLR so it can handle a few scratches. Took a 9 hour round trip to Harrison, AR for it.

2009 17k miles

Getting new graphics, seat, chain/sprockets, bark busters, windshield and trying to decide on a tire. I'd like to get the wheels done black but I don't want to mess with the disassembly and shit with spokes.

650, 6 gallon tank, 17/21 setup and has a windshield! Weeee

Has good Metzeler Tourance rear, needs a front in a month or so. Pretty excited to get it cleaned up and riding. Ordered Tusk engine guards last night. It should be adventure ready soon.

His DRZ is street-focused, and would be miserable to tour on (not many places for gear, no wind protection, small seat, not geared for the highway, etc.). The KLR is basically the opposite.

They look similar, but have very different purposes.

404: no old man bike found. I don't see a full windshield nor a proper saddle seat.

Quit posin' brah.

How aggressive of riding are you looking to do? I've been really happy with my Dunlop 606 rear tire, but it's more 90/10 for off-road, which is where I spend the majority of my time riding. I did not like the D606 front, I use a Pirelli Scorpion XC mid/hard instead and have been much happier.

I ride the DRZ everywhere and will do the same with the KLR. The bike came with a close to new Metzeler Tourance rear, but the front is shot so a new one is on the way. The reviews were great for that tire so I'm keeping them for a while

I was trying to find the one of him losing it and running into the ditch but my internet troll/sleuth skills are about in line with Karlen's riding abilities today.
