About 8:00pm last night I was coming home from my parents place, I am on 119th st, by Switzer, and I decide to goose it a bit. I really haven't learned how to recognize charger lights yet. He was directly behind me the whole time. knew I was fucked when he lit me up cause coming out of second gear I shot a big fireball, I pulled over on a side street, turned on hazards and interior lights. He asked for my license and insurance, I handed them over shaking my head, saying "that was really stupid of me". He came back and said " next time I will run you in for that shit, I know you have a fast car and you wanna have fun with it but you cannot do this on public roads, go home, consider this your lucky night".
really Nice guy, reasonable and respectful. I did go directly Home and went to bed. Counting my lucky stars!

Good news, man! I wasn't so lucky a few years ago. 90 in a 40mph zone. Thankfully I was in Texas and that I could pay to keep it off of my record, haha.

If i pull over someone and they are nice and not pissy like, i see no reason to write a ticket. I don't get any money and I have no incentive to write them. Especially equipment violations why write you a ticket for something you will already have to spend money to fix?
Now if you don't get it fixed in say a month or so then maybe you require incentive to have it fixed. But yea tailwag is correct, we deal with enough bullshit with people if i can get a nice person on a traffic stop. You can be one your way if you don't have any warrants and are sober.

I was thinking because of the fireball that shot out of my tail pipe the guy was going to nail me for not having cats in addition to a reckless driving ticket. But I was very apologetic and respectful, I think thats what got me out of it.

Most times I would ask for a badge number and the stock # on the speed attaining device used, but I knew this guy just saw me nail it, I decided to be super nice and apologetic, it paid off.

he got me doubling the speed limit, I doubt it would have been just a ticket. Considering I have two contest racing tickets on my record, I consider myself lucky.

I got stopped once after a stoplight showdown and when the cop asked me what i was doing going 58 in a 45 i told him "winning" he chuckled then wrote me a ticket. I also got one the day after rockfest 2010 so i had my mohawk and was in the celica and he got me doing 53 in a 40 and it was an old guy, i knew i was getting a ticket that day too.

Had you gotten a ticket though at least you would have had a 10% chance of getting out of it. Lawyer wouldn't help you because the golf courses are closed this time of year so no chance for the defense to play golf with the prosecution.

Seems like a win win either way.

Wouldn't have worked either way cause a speed attaining device wasnt used. I would have had nothing to file a discovery for. In the past when I realized that my own efforts wouldn't get me out of the ticket, I requested continuances and hired Tom Mcgraw. Only tickets I never was able to get out of was one speeding ticket that was more than 20 over, a $5 seatbelt violation and 2 contest racing tickets. I lost track of how many citations I have been issued, Im sure its close to 20.

Can't be reckless without having caused a secondary unsafe happening. Speed alone can not be reckless.

Usually when I make a traffic stop I'm doing so with the intentions of taking that person to jail. I don't make many stops (3-4 a day) and write very few tickets. I choose wisely on my stops (sitting on a drug house, observing dwi like vehicle motions, etc). The only ticket I really care to write if I'm going to do so is no insurance. It really frustrates me with someone is texting on their fancy iPhone or galaxy but can't provide insurance. Not to mention if you hit me w/o it then I have to pay the deductible and take the higher rate hit.
I observed this exact same activity a few nights ago with a 73 dart. Pulled the guy over, gave him a hard time, then told him to have a good night and sent him on his way with a warning. Like it's been said above I also get no incentive for writing tickets I do it cause I like getting my hands dirty and it passes the time while I'm working.

I was doing 60-70 down wornall one day and a sheriff got me. He was a bit behind me but had his lights on, i knew he was coming for me. So i slow down, turn on a side street and shut my car off. When he came the car, began to speak and i quote "I am surprised you stopped" i told him i had not reason to run. He then just went on to complement my vehicle and and we shot the shit about cars for a minute. He did not write me a ticket and just told me to be safer. Very nice guy considering the circumstances.
