Default My 2004 CBR1000RR, pictures and work log.

Picked this up from Shaggy earlier this year. It had around 16k miles on it at the time and I've only put on about 1,500 on it since.

The chain was very rusty and overdue to be replaced and it had a small coolant leak. It was in very nice condition aside from those, which I was very happy with.

Put a nice new chain on and changed the oil. Also fixed the coolant leak, which was just an old hose.

I installed some frame sliders and what not while I had it apart. I had taken it completely apart to clean off the bits of plastidip that seemed to be in most of the cracks and crevices. Took a while, but turned out nice.

Then, it fell onto that yellow metal steam cleaner that can be seen in the second photo up from this sentence. It landed perfectly on it and the plastic tank cover caught it, cracking it pretty good.

That piece is only about $70-$100 for a new/used one, but I decided to just fix it and dip the bike. I decided to go with pearl white, as it gives a much better final texture compared to regular dip, and in my opinion looks a lot better as a result. I decided to get rid of the turn signals mounted on the sides of the tail at the same time. I replaced them with an integrated LED tail light.

This is how it sits right now.

I have no plans of making it any faster at the moment. Next plans are a new set of tires, a new seat, and I have a set of headlights I am working on when I have the time. Eventually if I end up keeping this one, I'll take the dip off and have the fairing painted a color yet undecided.

I liked red better. I can't get over how ugly IMO they made the front end on those bikes.

Ride safe!

They're my favorite CBR front end, by far. I wish the red fairing were in a bit better shape, I would've just left it like that if so.

I dig the pearl white. Some slim mirrors or even bar end mirrors would look good.

Yeah, the mirrors definitely kill the front end. I just enjoy using them too much to get rid of them. But, I haven't really searched for other options, now you're going to make me look!

I ordered it online from dipyourcar. We should have our retail dip shop open in KC within the next month or so, where we will be carrying all these dips for local pick-up as well.
