Boulevard Snow & Tell Oak-Aged Scotch Ale Returns

From Boulevard:
Returning for a fourth year, Snow & Tell is our interpretation of a Scotch Ale or Wee Heavy. Ranging in alcohol from 6% up to 10% in more extreme examples of the style, Scotch Ales typically feature rich, caramel malt sweetness punctuated by spicy/herbal hops.
At 6.3 ABV, Snow & Tell is composed of our base pale malt, crystal/caramel malt, amber malt and just a touch of Beechwood smoked malt from Germany. At just under 1% of the total malt bill, the smoked malt lends subtle complexity without overpowering the layers of caramel and toffee flavors contributed by the crystal malt. Hopped with Magnum, Chinook and Saphir, Snow & Tell sees brief aging on medium toasted virgin oak chips at the end of fermentation.
Opening with aromas of fig, raisins and caramel/toffee Snow & Tell stretches out, enveloping the palate with a lingering malt sweetness that transitions into spicy/herbal hop flavors coupled with a drying, oaky character. The hops are fairly minimal at 25 IBUs, but serve to keep Snow & Tell from becoming cloying.
Flavor Profile
Aroma –Sweet caramel malt, slight spice and a hint of oak
Malt –Toffee, brown sugar, nutty, caramel malt notes
Hops – Balancing, spicy/earthy
Balance – Malt
Body – Medium

Characteristics
Alcohol by Volume – 6.3%
IBUs – 25
Color – 102 EBC

Pairings
strong aged cheeses, maple glazed salmon, your favorite chili recipe, shortbread
Look for Snow & Tell in six-packs of 12oz bottles and on draft where you normally find our seasonal releases. Deliveries of bottles and kegs will begin in the Greater Kansas City Area on Monday, October 29th. Other cities that normally see Boulevard seasonal beers like Hibiscus Gose and Tough Kitty Milk Stout should expect to see Snow & Tell in the coming weeks. Please note that we do not have access to our distributors’ delivery schedules and will be unable to confirm when Snow & Tell is available near you.

Boulevard Releasing Two Barrel-Aged Great Eight Sample Packs

From Boulevard:
As we ease out of the heat of summer and head towards cooler months when bigger, bolder, boozier beers are not only welcome, but downright appropriate, we’re excited to share that two new Barrel-Aged Great Eight sample packs will be hitting shelves starting on September 17th! Composed of two bottles each of two year-round and two limited release beers, these barrel-aged beauties are perfect for sharing with friends or for having an amazing night alone.
Given that barrel-aging beer, by nature, is a fickle endeavor that’s also limited by the fact that aging space and the barrels themselves are finite, our friends in the Greater Kansas City Area will see a Barrel-Aged Great Eight composed of beers produced in smaller runs than the beers that will be distributed nationally. With that said, let’s meet 2018’s Barrel-Aged Great Eight sample packs.
Both iterations of the Barrel-Aged Great Eight will contain two bottles each of Bourbon Barrel Quad and Whiskey Barrel Stout.
Bourbon Barrel Quad
  • Abbey-style quadrupel aged in oak bourbon barrels for up to three years
  • Warm and toasty with aromas of bourbon, oak, subtle tart cherry and vanilla
  • 11.2% ABV & 26 IBUs
  • Pairs with bacon-wrapped dates, dark chocolate torte, washed rind cheeses
Whiskey Barrel Stout
  • A blend of freshly brewed beer and beer aged up to a year in both first- and second-use whiskey barrels
  • Robust flavors of vanilla, espresso, whiskey, chocolate and roasted grain
  • 11.8% ABV & 32 IBUs
  • Pairs with roasted leg of lamb, hickory-smoked bleu cheese, tiramisu
THE BARREL-AGED GREAT EIGHT IN THE KANSAS CITY AREA WILL INCLUDE TWO BOTTLES EACH OF:

Cognac Cask Aged Dark Saison
  • Aromas of nutmeg, leather and earthy menthol meld with sweet caramel notes, dark fruit and vanilla
  • Spicy cardamom and sweet orange peel accent floral notes provided by Hallertau Blanc hops
  • 11.7% ABV & 10 IBUs
  • Pairs with oysters on the half shell, aged Gouda, baklava
Tequila Cask Aged Imperial Stout
  • Flavors of caramel, honey and anise gained during aging add complexity to a near syrupy-bodied obsidian stout
  • Subtle earth/herbal hops and notes of bittersweet chocolate, cloves and charred oak provide balance
  • 12.1% ABV & 23 IBUs
  • Pairs with chicken mole enchiladas, smoked gouda, raspberry torte
THE NATIONALLY DISTRIBUTED BARREL-AGED GREAT EIGHT WILL INCLUDE TWO BOTTLES EACH OF:

Brandy Barrel Belgian-Style Golden Ale
  • Aromas of vanilla, cloves and peaches imparted by Belgian yeast and American brandy barrels
  • 12.4% ABV & 20 IBUs
  • Pairs with beer battered fried fish, triple crème brie, fruit pastries
Jamaican Rum Barrel Imperial Stout
  • Aged for one year in Jamaican rum barrels
  • Notes of chocolate, coconut and vanilla with a warming finish featuring espresso, caramel and sweet rum
  • 14.6% ABV & 18 IBUs
  • Pairs with dark chocolate, sweet & spicy BBQ, jerk chicken, rum cake

Space Camper Cosmic IPA Blasts Off

As we celebrate the beginning of a new year, we’re excited to introduce a brand-new year-round beer that will join our canned and draft lineups, Space Camper Cosmic IPA. The culmination of over a year of creative exploration of a relatively new take on India Pale Ales, Space Camper saw first life in our Tours & Recreation Center Beer Hall as TEST – El Dorado IPA. Boulevard fans (and BLVDians alike) loved the beer so much that we knew we were on to something.
Space Camper Cosmic IPA is an exhilarating initiation into a mind-bending alternate universe of India Pale Ales. Our brewers employ massive hop additions at the end of the boil, and during fermentation, to minimize upfront bitterness and create a juicy IPA bursting with tropical fruit flavors and aromas of nectar and citrus.

Your best bet is to give your favorite local beer spots a call to see if they know if/when they’ll receive Space Camper.

Boulevard Tequila Barrel Lime Gose Returns 2/4

From Boulevard:

Near the middle of 2016, we acquired a truckload of freshly emptied tequila barrels from a variety of distilleries. After experimenting with barrel-aging beers we currently brew to assess the character that the barrels would provide, our brewing team decided to brew a German-style gose infused with sea salt, coriander and lime peel to create Tequila Barrel Lime Gose. Initially brewed as a draft-only offering in 2017, Tequila Barrel Lime Gose graduated to a seasonal limited release in 2018 and returns in 2019, but this time in six-packs of cans in addition to kegs!

Pouring deep golden in color, Tequila Barrel Lime Gose presents aromas of oak, vanilla and caramelized banana with bright lime character transitioning to subtle tequila notes and coconut. With a pleasant, refreshing lactic acidity and hints of coriander and sea salt, citrus flavors mingle with malt sweetness to temper the acidity and touch of heat provided by tequila barrel-aging. Crisp and clean, Tequila Barrel Lime Gose tapers to a slightly salty finish that begs for another sip.

Flavor Profile
Aroma – Slight citrus acidity, subtle oak, mild tequila
Malt – Minimal honey-like sweetness
Hops – Supporting balance
Balance – Refreshing acidity, oak, citrus
Body – Light, crisp

Characteristics
ABV – 4.2%
Bitterness – 11 IBUs
Color – 10 EBC

Pairings
Tacos al Pastor, chicken flautas, guacamole, shrimp ceviche

Tequila Barrel Lime Gose returns in the Greater Kansas City Area starting on Monday, February 4th and will be available throughout our distribution footprint in the coming weeks. Areas that have typically seen Boulevard seasonal beers like Berliner Weisse and Hibiscus Gose should expect to see Tequila Barrel Lime Gose soon. Please note that we do not have access to our distributors' delivery schedules and will be unable to confirm when the beer is available near you.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. —
Boulevard Brewing Co. has built a nationwide following for its iconic Tank 7 and Pale Ale beers, but now the brewer is launching its first line outside of beer.
Boulevard has launched Fling Craft Cocktails, and it’ll initially offer four all-natural, low-calorie, low-carbohydrate and gluten-free cocktails. Fling Craft drinks will be sold in four-packs of 12-ounce cans.

Fling will launch with four flavors – Blood Orange Vodka Soda, Cucumber Lime Gin and Tonic, Margarita and Mai Tai. Boulevard said the cocktails will cost $12.99 and will be sold in grocery, liquor and convenience stores across Kansas City.
“Crisp, refreshing and crafted with care, they're ready for any adventure and will be available year-round in early April,” Boulevard said on its website.
Boulevard also tapped into its local connections for its spirits, using 360 Vodka from Weston, Builders gin from North Kansas City’s Restless Spirits Distilling Co. and American Agave from Mean Mule Distilling Co. in the Crossroads.

MAN, IT’S A ‘COT ONE.
A blend of Belgian-style ales aged in oak barrels and foeders for up to 36 months with a final rest on whole apricots, this fuzz is so smooth. Look for Smooth Fuzz to hit shelves and tap handles in KC starting May 6th, with other regions in our national distribution footprint to follow.

We're excited to share that Hold the Pancakes, the inaugural First Fridays Collection release, will be released in very limited quantities starting in the Greater Kansas City Area on Monday, May 13th with other regions to follow soon! Multiple vintages of imperial brown ales and imperial stouts aged from 15 to 24 months in bourbon, rye and maple syrup-filled whiskey casks come together in this complex, sticky, boozy behemoth of a beer, showcasing the barrel shepherding and blending skills of our brilliant brewers.

Requiem For A Pancake is the base for this. It's gonna be so good. Also, it's already been spotted in the wild, so it jumped the 13th release date.

Brewhouse One Series Release + Party for the Parks

MAY 24 @ 10:00 AM - 9:00 PM

Kick off your holiday weekend with hazy IPA and fuzzy feelings – for our latest Brewhouse One Series release, we’ll be drinking beer for KC Parks! We’ll debut our latest Brewhouse One Series release, Squeezy Like Sunday Morning, a DDH Hazy Double India Pale Ale with Galaxy, Mosaic, Citra and Lotus on Friday May 24th, beginning at 10am. We’re thrilled to be partner with KC Parks for this latest small batch beer brewed for our friends and neighbors.

We will be raising funds for the beautification of Penn Valley Park, just a short stroll of the Tours & Rec Center. This renovation project will include investing in native plantlife, improving the tree canopy, and upkeep for the iconic Scout. $1 from every 4-pack plus cash donations and tips collected on May 24th, will benefit the Penn Valley project. Representatives from KC Parks will be hanging out in our Gift Shop and Beer Hall all day on Friday with opportunities for guests to adopt flower beds, trees, and sculptures. Find out more about Penn Valley Park here: https://blvd.ly/pennvalleypark

Squeezy Like Sunday Morning is a 9.7% ABV double dry-hopped hazy double IPA, which pours a glowing orange hue and bursts with waves of bright, juicy aromas of passion fruit, peach, blueberry and sweet citrus. For full details on the beer, please visit our brewer’s blog.

Squeezy Like Sunday Morning will be packaged in 16oz cans. Single cans will be available for $7 and 4-packs for $25 from our Tours & Rec Center Gift Shop beginning at 10am on Friday, May 24th. Limit two 4-packs per transaction.
