Default Hair Loss remedies

No idea if this part of getting old or has to do with lifting on a regular basis. I have been having thinning hair. It hasn't changed that much over the last year, but I definitely have less hair now than I did last year and so on. I went to the derm about my acne which has come out of no where. He explained that my body has too much T. It just happens in some people. Told me I could start taking propecia or use some rogaine. After doing some research propecia has some very scary side effects. Such as ED among other sexual side effects. The derm told me these aren't common, but its still scary.

I was curious if anyone else has tried to do anything to stop hair loss. If so what did you use, and were there any side effects.

Let me know if you find anything. I'm 25 and i'm loosing it quick. Mom seems to think it's thyroid, but i've yet to get a dr's input.

I've heard to stay clear of rogaine, however.

Your hair becomes dependent on it so if you stop, you loose what you gained and then some.

Also heard that keeping your hair short and getting it cut often can slow hair loss.

and I had heard the opposite. I mean, when I read this it makes sense. But i'd need to hear more in either direction to make an educated decision.

I picked up some Bosley BosRevive last week. We'll see how it works.

Previously I had been using the Nioxin 3 step deal. After 3 months and no results i gave it up.

Get some better hair genetics.

JK.

I have no real input as both sides of my family had old men with heads full of hair.

My dad has more hair than I. Both of my moms parents have full heads. Dads dad was bald, though.

Male pattern baldness is a genetic trait passed down from the maternal grandfather.

Good news for me I guess. My grandpa is 87 and still sports a flat top.

I take Propecia, it's expensive but it has stopped my hair from falling out and has started to regrow in certain areas. I think the generic is like 129 for 90 days at Wal Mart. My work pharmacy sells it for 119 which is cost and insurance will not cover it.

Genetics
Genetics play an important role in male androgenetic alopecia. In one study of approximately 500 monozygotic male twins and 400 dizygotic male twins between the ages of 25 and 36, 80 percent of the variance in the extent of hair loss was attributed to genetic effects [26]. Both maternal and paternal genetics appear to be involved and the mode of inheritance is best viewed as polygenic with variable penetrance [10,27].

Numerous studies have identified genetic susceptibility loci for androgenetic alopecia including the androgen receptor (AR)/EDAR2 locus on the X chromosome [28] , the PAX1/FOXA2 locus on chromosome 20p11 [29,30], and HDAC9 gene on chromosome 7p21.1 [31]. Chromosome 3q26 may also have a contributory role [32].

I say keep your money and grow old gracefully.

If you really care about your looks then hit the diet and gym and rock a six pack. That should offset the balding issue with the ladies
