there is something fucked on your car. i in no means want to sound like a dick or sound like i am trashing your car but for being an ls1 you car puts down way to low on horse power numbers and gas milage. on the highway i scored over 25 mpg and put down over 310 hp to the wheels stock. someone needs to find out what is up with your car. you will enjoy it a lot more once you get it fixed and running properly
ill take a stab....fuel filter????
LS1's also hate o2 sensors.

Although i have no idea what mods he has or how many miles so that may help some too. but 12-15 out of an LS1 is complete shit. Something is making it burn way too much fuel

i dont think he said that 12-15mpg was highway. In the city, 12-15 is pretty normal if you get on it every once in awhile, especially if you race.

Thats probably his average. I get an awesome 28mpg on the highway, but since my foot can't stay out of the pedal around town I average 15.

Haha, sorry guys I neglected this post.

Yes 12-15mpg was CITY with a tiny mix of highway mileage in there.

All highway I get 22-24mpg.

My car should weigh about 3750, plus me makes it just at a 4000lb car... this is a good 300-400lbs more than an Fbody, and the biggest contributor to a slow car, and bad gas mileage.

Onyxhawk's LS1 Firehawk gets 16-20mpg city/mix and 28-30mpg Hwy.

I can baby the hell out of it and get 15mpg, or have fun and get 12mpg... so I tend to opt for the 12mpg

Wow, my AUTOMATIC trailblazer SS averaged 16-18mpg all the time, and I wasn't nice to it. It also made just shy of 500rwhp.

Well, since this has turned into a fuel economy thread, I put down 270+ (probably 280+ at mc) in my 2800 pound car and my last tank I got 27.5 mpg with a mix of city and highway (60% highway / 40% city). Normally I have around 10% highway / 90% city and get 24-25.

This car has 76k miles on it and has been daily driven aftermarket boosted for 31k miles. 23 mpg is the factory city rating. Special attention to a good part throttle tune was crucial for the economy I'm seeing. My part throttle fuel tune is so close to 14.7 in open loop that closed loop operation never sees any long term trims and short term trims are 2% or less at any given time. My part throttle CAM tune (i-vtec vtc cam angles for valve timing, *not* ignition timing) is dialed in from doing datalogs of injector ms over time while maintaining speed over a fixed distance (same stretch of road). Basically, I found that 25 degrees cam instead of 30 (base maps) was good for another 2-3 mpg on average. Where other s/c rsxs get 1 mpg less city on average, I get 2 MORE mpg on average than even stock rsxs.

Oh, and according to random teenagers, my car is sick. Just thought that was worth mentioning.

Wayne
