This season will be very interesting for KSU. I have no idea what to think. It could be a terrible season or it could be good above .500 season...

We will have to wait to see.

On the other hand, I think the whole BigXII North is the same exact way, even with Nebraska in the mix. I think it is a toss up for 4 teams in the North to win. I have a feeling it will come down to the last week.

Toss up? Are you serious? There are two teams in the North that should be a class above the rest. Missouri and Nebraska. Nebraska's defense (while not as good as last year) will have them up there. Their offense could kill them again, though. That's not just my opinion, that's the opinion of most prognosticators.

Anyone see the new NCAA rule change?

If a player high steps or does any form of show boating before the ball crosses the plain of the endzone the touchdown is taken off the board and the down will be replayed.

Not replayed. Will be assessed from the spot of the foul.

The offense was young last year - nowhere to go but up for the most part.

And a lot of people also say the defense as a whole will be better. We'll see.

That doesn't mean it will go up. Your QB situation isn't any better than it was last year and Thomas can't do everything. He tried last year and look where it got them.

Snyder may be a good coach, but he can't turn crap in to gold. Talent level isn't there for a well above .500 season.

He has before, not saying that he will this year, but didnt have a chance to last season. He was given one month to recruit, and because of that, all he could pull was JC kids...

Oh, well in that case... your QB situation is better than KSU, but not by much. Good RB tandem, but WR corps not that great (sorry, Niles Paul is not one of the best WRs in the league).

But, you have the second best kicker in the league, so that counts for something.

Good news is I won't have a problem getting a good seat at the games this year for the student sections... haha

I'm ready for football season.

I don't really care how KU or KSU does this year, I'm just ready to see some Big 12 football. I also live right next to the stadiums (KSU), so tailgating will be a blast.

OSU should have a decent year. Texas will dominate the south again but i think OSU should see a decent bowl game. Cotton or Alamo most likely.

Hopefully Hunter can come off his injury year and have a good 2010. If he can rack up the yards they should be able to hang in there and have an above .500 season.

From their schedule, i can definitely see an 8-4 season.

I think Nebraska could definitely go 9-3 or 10-2 without too much of a problem... The only hurdles would be Texas (@ Neb), @ ISU, @OSU and @A&M. Iowa State is always a pain in the ass to play up there for some reason... The others are pretty self explanatory I suppose. haha

You don't consider the Mizzou @ Nebraska game to be a challenge?

I think you think MU will be better this year than they actually will be.

Conversely, I think KU could finish anywhere from 4-8 to 8-4. I really dont know what to expect from our team this year, but I would be pleased with a 6-6 season after a complete regime change.

does anyone but ryan think MU will be that good this year?

i mean, OSU is around 30 in the preseason rankings, and i think thats about where they will end up. either just outside or just inside the top 25 with a decent bowl game and a decent conference record. i think if we can pull out wins against Neb and OU then the season will be even better. but as of now i see 4 losses.

I think Missouri is underrated and Nebraska is horribly overrated.

Travis, what games do you see KU winning for a possible 8-4 season?

I see a possible 10 win season for Missouri and I'm not the only one. Many prognosticators out there are saying the same thing. At some point, mizzou will take the next step and I think this year could be the year.

MU has a VERY easy schedule in which they don't leave the state of missouri until halfway through october, so they should have a bunch of wins by the time they play OU, but i dont think they will have a team that is on the level of teams like nebraska or texas or OU. I would put MU around 4th or 5th in the big 12 if i had to guess. they should get at least 8 wins though, with a noncon schedule consisting of illinois, mcneese state, miami of ohio, and San diego state.

Ryan, I don't expect an 8-4 season. I was only saying that no one knows what to expect from KU this year. 8-4 would be a miracle season for KU i think. I have seen projections of last in the north for KU, to 2nd in the north behind nebraska. Hell, Phil Steele has KU at 4th in the north and MU at 5th. I can see us beating North Dakota State, New mexico state, Baylor, KSU, ISU, and Colorado. You know we always play you guys close. If things were to go KUs way, it isn't like A&M or Southern Miss are fantastic teams. there are at least 6 games on the schedule that i think KU has a decent shot at winning, and 2 or 3 more that aren't just given losses. the only games i see as definite losses are georgia tech and nebraska, but i fully expect us to lose more than that.

I see the big 12 this way

1 - UT
2 & 3 - OU or OSU ( i think it will come down to their game between them and if OU can come back off that abysmal season)
4 - NU
5 - MU
6 - KU
and then a toss up from there...

Not bad, i think you are drinking a little bit of koolaid too, but that seems like its possible.

I would go:

UT
OU
NU
OSU
MU
tossup from there.
