Default Sony's MEN IN BLACK Spinoff Gets A New Release Date

The long rumoured Men in Black spinoff (no, not the Jump Street one) from Sony has just secured a new release date and you can find out when it will reach the big screen after the jump. Check it out...

Men in Black III was a good idea in theory and despite an impressive haul of $642 million at the worldwide box office, the response from moviegoers was tepid and Sony Pictures decided to go back to the drawing board. Since then, we've heard that Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones won't be returning, while the planned Jump Street mashup was put on hold because it all started getting too complicated.

However, that remains in development as does a spinoff from the writing team of Matt Holloway and Art Marcum (Iron Man, Transformers: The Last Knight). Absolutely nothing has been revealed about the movie but it does have a new release date. It was originally set to open on May 17th, 2019, opposite John Wick: Chapter Three. Now, it's going to debut on June 14th, that same year, instead.

Now, it's set to square off against the Shaft remake and it opens the week after Gambit and the week before Toy Story 4 (though it's hard to imagine that meeting that release date seeing as it's now undergoing a rewrite). Are you excited for the movie? Be sure to let us know your thoughts below.

Men in Black Relaunch Recruits Fate of the Furious Director

The Fast of the Furious director F. Gary Gray is in talks with Sony to oversee the studio’s Men in Black franchise relaunch/reboot/spinoff. With a career that dates back more than 20 years to the Ice Cube comedy Friday, Gray has long been a mainstay in Hollywood, alternating between gigs directing music videos and feature films like The Negotiator and The Italian Job. His biggest breakthrough, though, came in 2015 with his direction of the critically acclaimed hit Straight Outta Compton, which was followed two years later by the worldwide blockbuster The Fate of the Furious – a movie that pulled in a gargantuan global haul of $1.2 billion.
The success of Straight Outta Compton and The Fate of the Furious has given Gray the luxury few directors in Hollywood can enjoy, which is to be choosy. So, it appears that the director’s next task is to reinvent a franchise starring Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones that first became a worldwide phenomenon over twenty years ago.

According to Deadline, Sony Pictures and Steven Spielberg’s production house Amblin Entertainment are in negotiations with Gray to secure the director to move the Men in Black franchise forward. Following the underperformance of the third Men in Black film in 2012, the franchise has been long-rumored to undergo some serious changes. At one point, Sony even contemplated merging the property with the 21 Jump Street stars Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill taking over the leads. However, when that idea fizzled, the studio opted for relaunching the original Men in Black premise based on the comic book series by Lowell Cunningham and Sandy Carruthers.

Deadline says Gray will be directing the film from a script by Iron Man screenwriters Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, and that Spielberg is onboard as an executive producer. The publication says neither Smith or Jones is expected to return to the franchise, and instead the new Men In Black film will employ an entirely new cast. As Deadline words it, the premise of the original comics is “a covert force policing the alien population hiding in plain sight.”
Gray is a smart choice to take over the Men in Black franchise, which was originally helmed by Coen brothers’ protege Barry Sonnenfeld. Having such films as The Fate of the Furious and the criminally underrated action thriller Law Abiding Citizen on his resume, there’s no question that Gray will bring this film the action sensibilities that it needs. Perhaps more importantly, though, is Gray’s experience with character dramas like Straight Outta Compton, meaning that the story won’t completely be overwhelmed by special effects. Plus, with his background in comedy with Friday, Gray has the tools to recapture the charm and humor that made the original Men in Black films stand apart from others in the sci-fi action genre.

The New Men In Black Movie May Have Found Its First Lead

For 15 years across three movies, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones were the MIB agents we followed along with one the big screen, donning their sharp suits and keeping Earth safe from alien threats. But the Men in Black film series is about to enter a new era, as the forthcoming movie will follow an all-new cast of characters. Today brings word that longtime Marvel star Chris Hemsworth is the first actor who's been approached to play one of these new well-dressed agents.

Rather than reboot the Men in Black franchise, the next series entry will exist within the same continuity established by the previous three movies, and THR dropped the news that Chris Hemsworth is in early negotiations to be one of the next movie's leads. It was also reported that the new Men in Black movie's main protagonists will be a white character (presumably who Hemsworth will play), a black woman and an older man. The story will also be set in London, making this the first time that one of the Men in Black movies' main action has been set outside of the United States.

Chris Hemsworth is unquestionably best known for play Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, most recently playing the God of Thunder in Thor: Ragnarok. Outside the world of superheroes, his credits include Star Trek, Snow White and the Huntsman, Ghostbusters, The Huntsman: Winter's War and 12 Strong. What's particularly about Hemsworth being eyed for the Men in Black relaunch is that recently the actor said that after he's done shooting Bad Times at the El Royale (which co-stars Jeff Bridges), he would be taking six months off from acting. However, since the new Men in Black movie is coming out in summer 2019, if Hemsworth decides to sign on the dotted line, then he'd almost certainly have to postpone his break to be available for filming later this year.

Following Men in Black 3's release in 2012, Sony Pictures considered several ways to keep the film series going. A direct Men in Black 4 was kicked around, but there are no currently plans for Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones to don the black suits again. There was also MIB23, a crossover with the 21 Jump Street movies, but it's unclear if that weird project could still happen. In the end, the studio settled on a spinoff that will keep the extraterrestrial-filled universe introduce in 1997 going, just like what Jurassic World did for the Jurassic Park series. The Fate of the Furious' F. Gary Gray will direct, and Iron Man writers Matt Holloway and Art Marcum penned the script.

Men in Black Spinoff/Reboot Will Begin Shooting This June

Prepare to put on the last suit you’ll ever wear, Sony’s next Men in Black movie is due to start shooting in June with a whole new cast and storyline for the intergalactic adventure.
For those who have been neuralyzed, 1997’s Men in Black focused on a group of suited individuals who repeatedly save the planet from alien forces right under our noses. Starring Tommy Lee Jones as the surly Agent K and Will Smith as sarcastic newcomer J, it became an overnight success. An equally popular sequel brought everyone back for Men in Black II in 2002, but a decade later, Men in Black 3 failed to be the revival the studio expected. Here’s hoping it’s fourth time lucky as Sony powers through with its own spinoff/reboot of the main franchise.

According to Omega Underground, Men in Black has pushed its start date from May, but will officially start shooting on June 18th in London. The movie is also still on track for a June 14th, 2019 release date, meaning it has just under a year to wrap the whole thing up and hit our screens. That’s a pretty big ask considering fans know literally nothing about the cast, plot, or whether it is a spinoff/revival. After the mixed reviews of Men in Black 3 , there were talks of bringing Smith back and doing a crossover with the popular Jump Street movies, however, talks stalled and it left the series in the disarray it finds itself in now.

While a reboot completely away from the ideas and stars that made the first era of the franchise may sound like a disaster waiting to happen, you only have to look at the runaway success of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle to see that Sony can sometimes work its reboot magic on a long-forgotten story. Added to this, the rumor mill has teased that Hollywood megastar Chris Hemsworth is circling a major role in the movie, which must be good for drawing crowds into theaters. However, let’s also not forget that Hemsworth starred in that maligned all-female Ghostbusters reboot from the same studio, so the jury is out on how Men in Black will fare.
As for what else fans can expect from Men in Black (4?), this time the agency is scheduled to swap New York City for London and other European cities like Berlin, while the lead actress is reported to be a woman of color. Could we see the ever popular Tessa Thompson suiting up to star alongside her Thor: Ragnarok co-star? Elsewhere, Sony must surely learn from the mistakes of Ghostbusters, so if it is going to bring back Jones and Smith in any capacity, it had better be more than meta cameos where they aren’t playing their original characters. There is certainly plenty of promise of where the Men in Black series could go next, but fans will have to wait just a little bit longer.

Thor: Ragnarok's Tessa Thompson Is Reuniting With Chris Hemsworth For Men In Black Spinoff

Sometimes in order to re-explore a property on the big screen, it's necessary to completely reboot it, but other times it's possible to tell a brand-new tale with a fresh cast of characters within the same continuity. Jurassic World did that with the Jurassic Park series, and Men in Black is gearing up to do the same with its upcoming spinoff. Earlier this month, it was reported that Chris Hemsworth was in negotiations to star in the new Men in Black movie, and now there's word that when his deal closes, he'll reunite with his Thor: Ragnarok costar, Tessa Thompson.

Four months after the world saw her join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Valkyrie in Thor: Ragnarok, THR dropped the news that Tessa Thompson will star in the new Men in Black movie. While no details were provided about Thompson's character, she'll join Chris Hemsworth as one of the finely-dressed agents working for MIB, the government organization that keeps Earth safe from alien threats. The new Men in Black movie will also be more of an ensemble piece rather than a duo-centric story like in the Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones days, and it will supposedly be more global in scope.

Tessa Thompson's acting work includes movies like Dear White People, Selma and Creed, while her TV resume includes Veronica Mars, 666 Park Avenue and Copper. Along with currently reprising Bianca for Creed 2, she stars as Charlotte Hale in the HBO series Westworld. It's safe to say that Thor: Ragnarok has been her Thompson's biggest cinematic appearance yet, and this Men in Black spinoff will help with strengthening her blockbuster career. Of course, with Thompson reuniting with Chris Hemsworth, I can't help but hope that other Ragnarok actors are added to this spinoff. Maybe Jeff Goldblum could take over as the new Agent Zed, a.k.a. the head of MIB, and Taika Waititi could succeed Tony Shalhoub as the alien shopkeeper who the agents visit to acquire information about shady extraterrestrial dealings.

Although the Men in Black spinoff will take place in the same continuity that the first Men in Black movies were set in, don't expect to see Will Smith's Agent J or Tommy Lee Jones' Agent K to appear. This new movie is intended to relaunch the franchise, building off what the original trilogy did and blazing a path for new agents to leave their own special mark. The spinoff was one of several projects considered to keep the film series going after Men in Black 3, with others including a direct Men in Black 4 follow-up and a crossover with the 21 Jump Street films.

Directed by The Fate of the Furious' F. Gary Gray and written by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, the Men in Black spinoff hits theaters on June 14, 2019. Stay tuned to CinemaBlend for more updates on how the movie is progressing. In the meantime, you can still see Tessa Thompson in theaters playing Josie Radek in Annihilation, and don't forget to browse through our 2018 release schedule to learn what other movies come out this year.

Why Men In Black’s Original Director Isn’t Returning For The Spinoff

News that a fourth Men in Black movie is on the way may have been welcome news to fans, but in addition to it going forward without the original leads, it will need a brand new director. Barry Sonnenfeld directed Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones in all three Men in Black films but he says he won't be back for the fourth one. The director says that the reason a fourth film never happened before is that he doesn't actually get along with the producers of the franchise. According to Sonnenfeld...

The producers and I don't really get along. It didn't seem like it was something any of us wanted to do.

Barry Sonnenfeld doesn't go into details about what the issues are between himself and the Men in Black producers but obviously, they're big enough that it makes the mere concept of working together less than exciting. At the end of the day, movies are made by people, and if those people don't work well together, it makes the entire process more difficult than it needs to be.

The Men in Black franchise has been dormant since Barry Sonnenfeld directed Men in Black 3 in 2012. There was an idea floating around for a while that would have seen the brand crossover with the 21 Jump Street films, but that idea appears dead and it has been replaced with a plan to spinoff Men in Black with a new movie that will exist in the same continuity as the original trilogy, but star a new cast of characters, looking to be led by Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson.

For what it's worth, Barry Sonnenfeld clearly has fond memories of directing the three Men in Black movies, regardless of what issues he may have had behind the scenes, but he tells Insider that he, along with both Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, just reached a point after the third film where they were done with the franchise and just wanted to do other things.

After Men in Black 3, it was pretty clear that Will and Tommy and I had sort of decided we didn't want to do any more of those. It was a lot of fun. And I loved working with Will and Tommy. But they worked too hard and too long. We all just wanted to move on.

The new Men in Black spinoff is set to be directed by F. Gary Gray, who previously directed Be Cool, the sequel to Get Shorty, that had also been directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. The new film already has a June 2019 release date, so it certainly looks like this one is moving full speed ahead. Keep reading CinemaBlend for more news on the new Men in Black as it develops.

Men in Black

Chris Hemsworth spoke to Variety (via Digital Spy) about his hopes for the Men in Black reboot during the red carpet premiere of Avengers: Infinity War.
We’re developing the script now. We’re basically trying to put a lot of humor in to it like the previous ones. These are obviously some big big shoes to fill, so we’re working our butts off on it to make something pretty epic and fun. They’re trying to change up the locations, make it feel unique and different to the last ones as well. So I think you might even see some different countries, maybe. Some different cities than you’ve seen in the previous Men In Black movies.

The First Plot Details For SONY's Untitled MEN IN BLACK Project Have Finally Been Revealed

A new report has seemingly confirmed previous casting details for SONY's upcoming Men in Black relaunch, while also revealing our first possible plot details for the upcoming film. More past the jump...

Filed Under: "Men in Black" Source: Omega Underground
SONY's fourth entry in the Men in Black franchise is heading into production next month and it has now been confirmed that the film will reunite Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. We also have, courtesy of Omega Underground, our first information regarding the plot of the upcoming film.

The spin-off fwill see Thompson's character "Em" on a journey to prove herself by joining the London branch of the MIB, where she is partnered with "former ace" MIB agent "H" (Chris Hemsworth). The pair then find themselves embroiled in a murder mystery that will see them traveling the globe,

This confirms previous reports that the movie would be "an ensemble piece than a two-hander and will be more global in scale". While there's no word on any other cast members to fill out the F. Gary Gray directed project, with the film starting in London and traveling the world we're more than likely to meet various international MIB agents along the way.

The new Men in Black comes from a script by Iron Man writers Matt Holloway and Art Meachum. it's currently set for release on June 14th 2019.

What do you think? Are you excited for a new Men in Black film? Where would you like to see the franchise go? Leave your thoughts below.

First 'Men in Black' Reboot Promo Poster Unveiled

The Men in Black franchise is coming back to theaters next summer, and Sony has unveiled the first promotional poster for the reboot.
At the Licensing Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada, Sony released the promo image for Men in Black, teasing a reboot of the franchise, while keeping in line with the style of the original. The image features a black pair of sunglasses with some sort of room reflected in the lenses. At the top of the poster, the MiB logo is shown, and teases that the film will be hitting theaters next summer.

You can check out the full promo image below!
(Photo: Sony Pictures) This new addition to the franchise will say goodbye to franchise stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, as the Men in Black move in a different direction with new characters at the helm. Despite the changes, the movie will be set in the same universe as the original trilogy, so Agents J & K will have existed, and their actions in the previous films will still be canon.

To replace Smith and Jones, Sony is looking to compound on the success of the recent Marvel Studios blockbuster, Thor: Ragnarok. Stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson will be reteaming for this adventure, taking over as the leads to the Men in Black franchise.

Liam Neeson in Talks to Join 'Men In Black' Reboot

Taken and Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace star Liam Neesonis in talks to take a role in the forthcoming reboot of Sony's Men in Blackfranchise, Variety reports.
The veteran star will reportedly appear alongside Thor: Ragnarok's Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson in an update of the beloved franchise based on the comics by Lowell Cunningham and Sandy Carruthers.

The report indicates that Neeson would be playing the head of the UK branch of the Men in Black. In the original series, Rip Torn played the American agency head.
The Men in Black are a top-secret organization of suit-wearing men and women in sunglasses who appear when there is alien activity, clean up the mess, and wipe everyday people's memories of the events. The original film franchise starred Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith.

Barry Sonnenfeld, who directed Men in Black and will likely serve as an executive producer on the reboot, expanded on the world in a pair of sequels, 2002's Men in Black II and 2012's Men in Black 3. By the time the third movie came around, Jones had scaled his acting work way back and primarily took a backseat to Avengers: Infinity War and Deadpool 2 star Josh Brolin, who played a younger version of Jones's character in the time-traveling story.
The comics, which have a decidedly darker tone, first appeared in 1990 from Aircel Comics, which was ultimately acquired by Malibu. As with nearly all of the Malibu properties, the rights situation is confusing, but Marvel Comics did produce a number of comic book tie-ins to Men in Black when the original movie debuted in 1997

‘Silicon Valley’ star Kumail Nanjiani reportedly set to join upcoming ‘Men in Black’ reboot

Kumail Nanjiani, pictured here in his role on HBO's 'Silicon Valley,' has reportedly been tapped for a role in the new 'Men in Black' movie. (HBO)

Kumail Nanjiani of “Silicon Valley” and “The Big Sick” will play a sidekick alien in “MIB,” the fourth installment of the “Men in Black” film series.
That Hashtag Show reported that the comedian will appear in the upcoming film. Although unconfirmed by Nanjiani, he will reportedly play Pawny. The character is described as, "a funny, wise-cracking, sex-driven alien from a civilization that exists on a Chessboard.”
Reports of Nanjiani’s offer for “MIB” appeared early this month as a That Hashtag Show exclusive.

Set for release in June 2019, the sci-fi action comedy follows the agents of a secret government agency designed to protect humans from aliens taking sanctuary on Earth and other intergalactic threats.
Variety reported in 2016 that Sony planned a crossover with "21 Jump Street," but the franchise appears set for a self-contained reboot, and a comprehensive one at that. It's been reported that it will not include franchise icons Will Smith or Tommy Lee Jones.
Liam Neeson and “Thor: Ragnarok” co-stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson are among the other big names reportedly involved.
F. Gary Gray, the director of “Straight Outta Compton” and “The Fate of the Furious,” will reportedly direct.

Men in Black Spinoff Casts Jurassic World 2's Rafe Spall

Rafe Spall lines up another blockbuster with Sony's Men in Black spinoff. Its been six years since Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones made Men in Black 3, and Sony is looking to keep the franchise going without them. The once considered crossover with their Jump Street franchise fizzled out, bringing them into full reboot mode. The Fate of the Furious director F. Gary Gray is taking control of the new film and Sony's giving him a great ensemble. Chris Hemsworth is leaving his MCU role as Thor behind to suit up in a different way and will be the star on the Men in Black film.

Co-starring with Hemsworth is his fellow Thor: Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson. Both will be agents at the London headquarters for the mysterious government agency, which is being led by none other than Liam Neeson. Casting is still ongoing, though, and Sony is adding one of the cast members from Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

THR reports Rafe Spall is joining the Men in Black spinoff in an unspecified role. He is fresh off a villainous turn in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which is dominating the box office. Spall has also recently appeared in The Ritual on Netflix, Steven Spielberg's The BFG, and Adam McKay's Oscar-winner The Big Short. He isn't the only new addition though, as dancing twins Laurent Nicolas Bourgeois and Larry Nicolas Bourgeois will also appear.

There's currently no word on any of these roles, but this could be another villainous turn for Spall. The core agents have all been cast to this point and he's the first one to join that doesn't have a direct role linked. His character may not have been the best part of Fallen Kingdom, but Spall is certainly capable of delivering a better antagonistic turn. That could just be the case under the watchful eye of F. Gary Gray. The Bourgeois twins though have extremely limited acting experience, but their dancing abilities could be utilized for alien movements perhaps.

With these three additions now confirmed, Men in Black's cast is truly starting to take shape. The film was originally scheduled to already be in production by this point, but there's been no indication that stayed true. Considering the cast is still being finalized and there has yet to be an announcement that filming began, it appears there's been a slight delay. It was just recently that Kumail Nanjiani's role was confirmed as well, so Men in Black doesn't look to be quite ready for cameras to roll. With that being the case, it should be expected for a few other cast announcements to be made in the coming days and weeks.

Emma Thompson Returning for 'Men in Black' Spinoff

Emma Thompson is the latest big name to join the upcoming Men in Black spinoff movie, reprising her role of Agent O.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thompson has been added to the ever-growing roster of Sony's new Men in Black film, which begins production this month in London. The actress will is set to be the first returning member of the Men in Black franchise to appear in the spinoff, having previously portrayed Agent O, the chief of the Men in Black organization, in 2012.

Thompson was one of two actresses to play the role in Men in Black 3. She portrayed the present day version of Agent O, while Alice Eve was cast as her younger counterpart. It's likely that the spinoff will only include Thompson's take on Agent O.

The new spinoff film stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson, who previously worked together in Marvel's 2017 action-comedy, Thor: Ragnarok. Liam Neeson (Taken) and Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick) have also joined the cast, along with Rafe Spall (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and twin dancers, Laurent Nicolas Bourgeois and Larry Nicolas Bourgeois.

As of now, Thompson's Agent O is the only character in the spinoff that has been revealed, and there is no expectation that the franchise's former stars, Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, will appear. The majority of the film's plot details are under wraps at this time.

This Men in Black spinoff will be the fourth installment in the franchise, which began over 20 years ago. The first two films, which starred Smith and Jones, were released in 1997 and 2002. Thompson, Eve, and Avengers: Infinity War star Josh Brolin joined the duo for the third film in 2012, which featured the protagonists travelling back in time.

Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson Suit Up in ‘Men in Black’ First Look Photos

Sony is moving forward with its Men in Black reboot, and now we've got our first look at Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson all suited up.

The new photo from the upcoming reboot shows Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson on the monitors as Agents H and Em respectively. The two stars are clad in the traditional Men in Black wardrobe seen int eh first three films, which consists of an all black suit, white dress shirt, and black tie (via Christopher Marc). You can check out the new photo below.

The new Men in Black reboot will be directed by F. Gary Gray with Art Marcum and Matt Holloway penning the script. The film will be produced by Walter F. Parkes and Laurie MacDonald, with Steven Spielberg attached as an executive producer.
Hemsworth and Thompson will reteam once again after their immensely successful outing together in Marvel Studios' Thor: Ragnarok, which was directed by Taika Waititi. The two had great chemistry there, and with the more comedic tone of the Men in Black franchise, they should be able to work similar magic here.

Not much is known about the film's plot just yet, but joining Thompson and Hemsworth on the film is Emma Thompson, who will reprise her role as Agent O from Men in Black 3. The film will also star Liam Neeson, Kumail Nanjiani, Rafe Spall, Laurent Nicolas Bourgeois, and Larry Nicolas Bourgeois.

According to Hemsworth, the crew knows they have big shoes to fill, as Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones left behind a cemented legacy as Agents J and K.

"We're basically trying to put a lot of humor into it like the previous ones. These are obviously some big big shoes to fill, so we're working our butts off on it to make something pretty epic and fun," Hemsworth told Variety. "They're trying to change up the locations, make it feel unique and different to the last ones as well. So I think you might even see some different countries, maybe. Some different cities than you've seen in the previous Men In Black movies."

The Men in Black films have been consistent performers for Sony, bringing in over $1.6 billion in global box office receipts. The studio is likely hoping they can get another trilogy from this promising duo too.

Rebecca Ferguson Cast as Female Lead in 'Men In Black' Spinoff

Rebecca Ferguson continues to ride her wave of success that kicked off with Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation, as the actress is reportedly joining the Men in Black spinoff starring Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. Additionally, the actress has finalized her deal to star in the sequel of The Shining, Doctor Sleep.

In addition to Ferguson, Hemsworth, and Thompson, the upcoming Men in Black spinoff will star Liam Neeson, Kumail Nanjiani, Rafe Spall, Laurent Nicolas Bourgeois, and Larry Nicolas Bourgeois. Additionally, Emma Thompson will be returning to the franchise to star as her character Agent O from Men in Black 3.

Little is known about the film's plot, though Hemsworth previously revealed his goals with the project and acknowledgment of the high standards the film will have to live up to.

In Doctor Sleep, Ferguson will play Rose the Hat, a mysterious cult leader who feeds off of individuals who demonstrate their "shine" abilities. She joins Ewan McGregor, who plays an adult Danny Torrance, Carl Lumbly as Dick Halloran, Alex Essoe as Wendy Torrance, and Zahn McClarnon as Crow Daddy, Rose's right-hand man.

Stephen King's website describes the story, "Haunted by the inhabitants of the Overlook Hotel where he spent one horrific childhood year, Danny Torrance has been drifting for decades, desperate to shed his father’s legacy of despair, alcoholism, and violence. Finally, he settles in a New Hampshire town, an AA community that sustains him, and a job at a nursing home where his remnant 'shining' power provides the crucial final comfort to the dying. Aided by a prescient cat, he becomes 'Doctor Sleep.' Then Dan meets the evanescent Abra Stone, and it is her spectacular gift, the brightest shining ever seen, that reignites Dan’s own demons and summons him to a battle for Abra’s soul and survival."

The upcoming Men in Black will hit theaters on June 14, 2019 while Doctor Sleep will arrive on January 24, 2020.

What do you think about Ferguson joining the projects? Let us know in the comments below!

‘Men in Black’ Reboot Photo Reveals The Agents Facing Off Against Their Biggest Threat Yet – Sweltering Desert Heat

Men in Black agents have gone toe-to-toe with some pretty serious adversaries over the course of the agency’s long history: vomiting aliens, Vincent D’Onofrio lurching around with roaches leaking from his body, the works. But in this new Men in Black reboot photo, Tessa Thompson shows off a new look at her and co-star Chris Hemsworth battling what may be their hottest opponent yet: the sun.
The actress took to Instagram to reveal a new set photo, and you won’t believe how HOT this photo is! (Actually, you probably will. They’re walking around in a desert.)

Men in Black Reboot Photo

Thompson, who’s had a heck of a year by appearing in Sorry to Bother You, Annihilation, Dear White People, Creed II, and Westworld, shared this photo through her Instagram account and captioned it “Buds in Black.”
We’ve seen a few behind-the-scenes photos from this new movie already through the stars’ social media accounts, but as far as I can tell, this is the first full-body shot of both stars together in full costume. Are those umbrellas going to double as some sort of special alien-fighting gadgets in the movie, or are the actors just using regular old umbrellas to get from one part of the desert set to another? Is Hemsworth wearing green and grey striped socks? Will those socks help with the alien fighting? I’m dying to know.

Tess Thompson Talks Upcoming 'Men in Black' Reboot

Something went wrong. Please make sure you added the video correctly.

Video URL: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFrCtv2k8jk

The Men in Black franchise is returning to theaters in 2019, with Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson taking on the leading roles. This new entry is seen as both a spin-off and a reboot, but that's really the only detail we've got so far.
Though she was careful not to spoil anything about the secretive project, Thompson did finally talk a little bit about her new Men in Black adventure. While speaking with Entertainment.ie at the press junket for Creed II, the actress said she loved working on the beloved franchise, especially alongside Emma Thompson.

"I'm such a massive, massive fan," she said. "We're related, Thompson and Thompson! Getting to just square off with her and hang out with her and learn from her, I was pinching myself and trying to keep my cool, because it meant a lot to me."
As far as the film itself goes, Thompson and the rest of the cast are hoping that their new style can be fun for audiences while also sticking to what everyone loved about the original films.

"Hopefully we're doing the franchise proud," Thompson added. "It's a lot more action than I think you've seen in the other Men in Black films. It is global in scope, it's set here in the UK which is super fun, there's a lot of fun, English humour. As agents, they also travel elsewhere in the world. I think it's bigger in scope with amazing folks like Liam Neeson (Ireland!) and Emma and Kumail Nanjiani and Rebecca Ferguson. We have a really rad fight scene.
"I'm really excited about it and like Creed, it's really fun to get to work with a co-star again. I just love working with Chris I love working with Mike [Michael B Jordan]. It's so fun getting to revisit being with him."

Thompson joined Hemsworth for his third Thor film last fall, taking on the role of Valkyrie in the critically acclaimed Ragnarok. As of now, it's unclear whether or not she will appear alongside him in 2019's Avengers 4.

First 'Men in Black International' Teaser Image Revealed

With a panel set for this weekend at the Brazil Comic Con Experience (CCXP), Sony's upcoming Men in Black reboot has finally been given an official title. As of Wednesday, we now know that the movie is going to be called Men in Black International, teasing a worldwide adventure for new franchise stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson.
Not long after the news broke, Sony released the first promo teaser image for the film on its official Facebook page. While it doesn't give away any information, or even show its lead characters in costume, the image does give a golden update to the classic MiB logo.
Check out the new Men in Black International image below!

The only actor joining International that has already appeared in the Men in Black franchise is Emma Thompson, who played Agent O in Men in Black 3. She will reprise the role in Men in Black International, and Tessa Thompson raved about getting to work with someone who she's always looked up to.

"I'm such a massive, massive fan," she said in a recent interview while promoting Creed II.

Chris Hemsworth Shares A First Look At MEN IN BLACK INTERNATIONAL; Plus Official Logo Released

Following the title reveal earlier this week, Thorstar Chris Hemsworth has shared a first look at Men in Black International, featuring his Agent H fighting crime alongside Tessa Thompson's Agent M.

Hot on the heels of the jaw-dropping new Avengers trailer, End Game star Chris Hemsworth has shared a first-look photo from his second big-budget summer blockbuster, Men in Black International, which is due out in theaters June 14.

The F. Gary Gray-directed sequel/spin-off will reunite Hemsworth with his Thor: Ragnarok co-star Tessa Thompson, who will play the Agent M to his Agent H. The pair will be joined by an all-star supporting cast that includes Liam Neeson (Batman Begins), Kumail Nanjiani (Silicon Valley), Emma Thompson (Men in Black 3), Rafe Spall (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), and Rebecca Ferguson (Mission: Impossible - Fallout).

Plot details remain under wraps for now, but with the film having a big presence at the currently ongoing CCXP, we should probably know a whole lot more before the end of the weekend. Plus, with the release of this new photo, it wouldn't be a stretch to assume a trailer could be just around the corner.

MEN IN BLACK INTERNATIONAL: Check Out The First Trailer And Poster For Sony's Sci-Fi Sequel

Sony Pictures has released the first trailer for Men In Black International, which reunited Thor: Ragnarok stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. Check out the teaser along with a poster after the jump.

Sony Pictures has just dropped the first trailer for Men In Black International, and it looks like a damn good time.

The trailer gives us a much better idea of what to expect from the plot, as it's revealed that Tessa Thompson's character actually tracks down MIB after learning of the top-secret agency's existence 20 years prior.

MEN IN BLACK: INTERNATIONAL Stills And Concept Art Featuring Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, And More

Another batch of images from Men in Black: International have been released and as well as highlighting the characters played by Liam Neeson and Emma Thompson, we also have some cool new concept art...

Following that very cool cover reveal, Entertainment Weekly has now released some more stills (and concept art) from Men in Black: International. As well as showing more of Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson's Agents H and P, the characters played by Liam Neeson and Emma Thompson also receive the spotlight.

There's even some very cool concept art revealing more about this take on the Men in Black's world.

Asked to describe this instalment in the franchise, Hemsworth says he views it as "a sort of reinvention, an opening up of the original franchise that aesthetically is a lot different. Like the geography of this one, we’re not just in New York — we’re in Istanbul, Italy, London."

That explains the title then and to take a look at these images, simply click on the "View List" button!

We've yet to see Liam Neeson in a superhero movie outside of Batman Begins but in Men in Black: International, the actor plays High T, the head of the Men in Black's London bureau.

It's said that Hemsworth's Agent H is known among the Men in Black as one of the best to ever wear the suit (take that J and K) but this movie reportedly finds him "falling on hard times."

Emma Thompson plays Agent O and the magazine reveals that she's the one who decides to take a chance on Tessa Thompson's Agent M when she sends her to the London branch of MIB.

According to director F. Gary Gray, when it comes to Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones, "We’re not replacing them, simply adding to their team." Neither actor is expected to cameo here, though.

Pairing up Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson for this movie was either a genius move or lazy casting. Either way, we know they share a lot of chemistry and that promises to make this a must-see.

Chris Hemsworth is no stranger to comedy so it will be interesting seeing how he plays Agent H, especially as he can just as easily pull off a tough, no-nonsense character as a funny one (see: Thor).

This is what the Men in Black's world looks like these days but based on that teaser trailer, here's hoping Sony Pictures will have perfected the special effects as those didn't look that great.

This looks very cool and is presumably a transport of sorts for the Men in Black. Are you excited for the movie? As always, share your thoughts on these images in the comments section below.
