What's wrong with that? If we're wasting time and resources building shit in Iraq and Afghanistan, why not put it to better use here? Makes more practical and economical sense. Personally, we should make a border that's actually secure instead of a fence with pie in the sky technological ideas.

Agreed. Also, there needs to be some ultimatums given to Mexico. Basically, keep your people under control and any signs of aggression from anyone coming from your side, we're coming over to take care if it ourselves.

I don't see anything wrong with it. I don't think all foreign bases should be closed. We could bring back some of the military. I don't seen anything wrong with the Marine Corps is. Main bases on each coast and Okinawa, gives us the ability to be in the world within hours. But there are a lot of smaller installations around the world that are not needed as much with the new technology and ability to move troops quickly. A combination of military and perimeter fencing, and surveillance would give us a pretty good border.

But my comment was about people that complain about the cost of foreign bases without thinking of what it would cost to bring back and house all the military. It is usually the people that say make a comment about how expensive the foreign bases are and to bring back our military. Then you ask them where are we going to put them and they say "I don't know".

The sad thing is that some overseas bases are more updated and accommodating than domestic bases. To me, that's not acceptable. Militarily, we should revert to an America First policy. I don't want to build any other nation except this one. I'm not opposed to outpost bases such as Qatar, Diego Garcia, Okinawa, Guam, etc., but I think we need to end the silliness in Iraq and Afghanistan and bring them home, and Korea too. Call me crazy or naive or whatever, but we can't afford this nation building world policeman shit anymore. We just can't. Not with the home front crumbling. There's serious issues here at home that are being ignored.

Please remind me, who controlled congress in the recent years leading up to the situation that doomed this administration?

Its easy to blame bush because most Americans are idiots and only know one politician (and not even those from their own state) but you should know where the real power should lie. Congress had time to make changes prior to 2008.

our government is designed so that not just one person can make legislation.
if it isnt broken dont fix it, during clinton they lower standards and things like acorn among others helped those who couldnt afford homes/mortgages to get them. dems and rino's road clintons wave clear into bush's term and never would raise the standard.

I was part of the mortgage industry in 2002 and its funny to me how their were rules how I could profit more on B and C loans (low credit scores) than on A (high credit scores)
Mortgage brokers were chomping at the bit to get these people who obviously could not pay their bills on time into tens to hundreds of thousands dollar mortgages cause they could make more profit on them.
The Federal reserve also lowered prime and the credit card debt paid off by refinancing all ready existing mortgage holders was huge.

During Bush's administration they took the cap of what would be paid for a barrel of crude and gas prices soared. oil companies thought the market was inelastic yet caused huge problems with cost of good being transported to the daily commute. Causing more burden on households

I dont think people realize just how significant the housing market is in this country...

raising a child and giving them structure and discipline is not any different than our government. we as a people have been so caught up in "got to have it now" even at the cost of more personal debt that we let the govt run this country like immature teenagers living high on the hog...
