I've got some old pictures of Kansas City I keep meaning to throw in this thread. I'll get around to it sooner or later.

I love the old streetscapes. Canal Street in New Orleans circa 1910. Large building is the Maison Blanche department store.

"Cupid's Round-up."

Illustration by Samuel D. Ehrhart, appearing in the Sept. 9, 1903 issue of Puck Magazine

The weekly magazine was founded by Joseph Ferdinand Keppler in St. Louis. It began publishing English and German language editions in March, 1871

"Puckish" means "childishly mischievous". This led Shakespeare's Puck character (from A Midsummer Night's Dream) to be recast as a charming near-naked boy and used as the title of the magazine. Puck was the first magazine to carry illustrated advertising and the first to successfully adopt full-color lithography printing for a weekly publication.

I try to keep it interesting. Washington, D.C., circa 1910. "Pennsylvania Avenue west from the Old Post Office." Landmarks here include the Washington Post newspaper, the Willard Hotel between 14th and 15th, the U.S Treasury, a bit of the White House, and the State, War and Navy building.
I wish more folks gave a shit!

The links work fine, but the pictures you posted don't. I can see the Easter Parade one now, but only because I clicked the link to see it. Everything else is still a blue question mark. Clear your cache/cookies and take another peeksie.

edit: And now the Easter Parade pic is gone again, lol.

Shorpy has consumed countless hours of my life. I particularly love viewing the Kodachromes at full res on a giant screen. It's literally like looking through a window to the past.

Uh oh. Has Shorpy eliminated linking? I was just looking at this thread yesterday wondering why it stopped. Thanks for bringing it back!

It's been a while since I posted. Here are a few that I like:

May 1942. "Southington, Conn. Monty's Diner"

February 1930. Washington, D.C. "Army Airship C-41 lands on Mall and airmen, led by Brigadier General William J. Flood of the 19th Airship Company, place wreath at Lincoln Memorial, honoring Lincoln's Birthday."

Jan. 28, 1922. "Snow -- Washington, D.C." A frosty Ford Model T during the blizzard of 1922.

I'm curious how cars did in the snow back then? I assume not too bad with those skinny tires.

edit: Neat-o. Just found an old thread on some rando forum where people were talking about driving their Model T's in snow: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages...tml?1251390116

Didn't some Model Ts come with Skis as an option? I recall reading something on this recently.
