![]() I was curious since this was a photography and art section, if anyone collects any sort of art. It doesn't have to be expensive, but is there a style, medium, or artist that you like?
Post some pics of what you like, where you tend to look, etc. I will put some up later, but I wanted to get some other ideas, see what others like, and get some other ideas on where to look to see if anything catches my eye. |

![]() I'm all over the board. I don't really collect anything, I used to go to the Art Museum 2-3 times a year just to take it in.
I like a lot of stuff Banksy does. I particularly enjoyed the movie that covered his 30 days in NYC. Some folks might not consider it art, but I like it.

![]() That's a good way to put how I am as well. Most art I like to try to think what the artist was thinking when it was created. I think that public art tends to draw my interest more nowadays than stiff, baroque art. I still have total appreciation for most anything (as I have about zero creativity), but it seems a tad stiff.

![]() I am a fan of Salvador Dali - he had his own interpretation of a lot of things...and many of them make me think that he was on something. I am not just talking about the melting clocks, but more of the flaming giraffes and the other strange stuff in a lot of his paintings. Just off the wall stuff that nobody would ever think about.

![]() I mostly buy posters (screen or letterpress). Our office is set up as gallery on first fridays here in the Crossroads, so we get a new "collection" every month to enjoy.
I appreciate a lot of art though, I am mostly intrigued by the actual execution of things, I got enough conceptual-ness at KCAI. Anything Renaissance to me is amazing. Just the scale and depth that you experience when you see them in person. Caravaggio (Can be seen at the Nelson) ![]() I have a few pieces from these guys. Hatch Show Print Hammer Press And a couple from a friend of mine locally. ![]() |

![]() I've got a couple of pieces hanging in my room that I pulled out of a tweaker/squatters crash pad when I shot a film there. They are really weird and cool looking. One is on a 2x3' piece of plywood and one was painted on an old window. I'll get some pictures when I get back to St. Louis.

![]() I picked up a few vintage french posters a week or two ago, which are getting framed and have another piece in the mail...nervous as all get out that it makes it in one piece.
I was assured that the posters were in a crush proof tube...one of them got crushed. Just by luck, the tube was about a foot longer than the poster and that is the portion that got smashed. |

![]() Denny Dent is one of my particularly favorite "artists". I am not an art collector, but i do my own oil and acrylic paintings. Just getting into 3d style painting as well as stenciling.

![]() I tend to collect screen print art, mostly in the smaller sizes like 8x10 and 11x14.

![]() Part of me wants to get my own place, just so I can hang up whatever Art I want on the walls. I'm not quite ready to give up saying I'm going back to KC eventually though. I'll probably wait about 4 years to make that decision if I don't go back next year. I have been thinking about getting a cheaper easel (my expensive one is at my parents house in KS), setting it up in the garage, and taking up painting, even though I mostly did photography and charcoal in high school and post.
