Default Damn slow economic growth

Was projected at 4% but only grew 3%.

I wish we had a real businessman in office who can grow the economy.

Yeah, he's responsible for that. LOL.

Let's see how well this "businessman" deals with Houston. I'm expecting a full and "epic" (Trump's own BIG words regarding Harvey) failure and finger pointing at everyone but himself.

So far the response to Harvey has been better than Katrina.

Better than Katrina so far? I agree, but that's about it. There's a lot that's not going so well on the state and federal side though and it's not over yet.

We'll see how Trump reacts when he's sees the FEMA funding and other government assistance requests come in to the tune of billions.

maybe we can just go get loans from VEB and Deutsche Bank and then default on them...

just in case anyone else forgot how much DIY was praising Obama for previous quarters:

like how in 22 of the next 23 quarters after 2Q 2008 we had GDP increases of 3%+ that DIY is so excited about now...

Exactly, Look at how great Obama did, and he didn't even spend one day running a business.

not yet but I guess we're all hoping he can do it this time (even though that's not really what the President does).

sadly on an ethical and moral level, being President has actually boosted his previously "on the path to bankruptcy" businesses because he's the first President in our history who thinks the Office of the President exists to help his own bottom line.

So that's what it takes to be a liberal, naivety.

90% of the politicians who run for office and are in office do so just to increase their personal wealth. The 10% that don't soon are converted once they are in office.

please point to other specific examples where a sitting US President spent tens of millions of US taxpayer dollars (likely hundreds of millions if you extrapolate out to 4 years and assume he's not going to change his behavior) on and with businesses that he personally owns and personally benefits from...

I'll wait.

Clinton, Bush, Obama. They all benefited from being president to the tune of 10's of millions of dollars.

So you're OK with Trump doing it, then? Just business as usual, being a typical politician?

He is not, at least not like previous presidents and I am OK with what he is doing so far.

Were you OK with previous presidents profiting in office, how about all the other politicians?

Nope. Especially not when it's profiteering on tax dollars. I'm not OK with Trump literally, directly putting tax payer dollars into his own pocket. There isn't even a middle man or any kind of dillution to it. Jesus man lol

way to move the goal posts. none of those people owned businesses while in office so you've quite literally failed this challenge three times already.

keep trying.

profiting from the office isn't a problem, its reality. any President is going to get a book deal after leaving office because they were President... they are, by definition, famous and have quite literally tens of millions of people that voted for them so they are going to get paid after leaving office.
but none have lacked the moral fiber and just shear decency required to not literally choose to profit from the Office of President while in office by making spending choices that specifically and purposefully benefit their personal wealth directly.
no wonder you wanted to defend Joel Osteen... you appear to be susceptible to snake oil salesmen.

I don't have to keep trying, what I said stands on its own, it is correct. Just because you choose not to believe or understand it doesn't make it less true.

its correct in that they made money after leaving office by virtue of having been President but that wasn't my question was it?

in order to be a valid response to my challenge each of these conditions of any example must be met:
1. a sitting President
2. who is specifically choosing to spend tens of millions of US taxpayer dollars on and with businesses that he owns

I believe what you said is true in a general sense. I also believe the Earth is round and 2 is still greater than 1 mathematically... none of those things, while being true, answer my challenge:

Quote:

I understand you that you can't point to specific examples (because none exist) but, perhaps, that's my point... isn't it?

No, they made money while in office. The Clinton Initiative was nothing but hundreds of millions of $$ for the Clintons.

Obama was a multi millionaire before he left office with access to tens of millions of $$.

Obama was a multi millionaire before going into office. Most of the money he made while in office was from book deals.
