![]() Have an 04 RX8 that won't start - have tried the basic de-flood process (haven't pulled plugs yet) but actually think it's the starter or maybe ignition. Has plenty of juice battery-wise but when you hit the key it makes a loud whirring noise (think high pitched vacuum) but no actual crank like it's turning the motor over or even trying to fire. Have too many other projects right now, is there a dependable shop on the KS side (I'm in Lenexa) that could diagnose and fix without ripping me off? Would have to tow it up there. Car only has 74,000 miles and was running perfectly then just wouldn't start. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

![]() It sounds like the starter might be turning but not grabbing the flywheel.

![]() Yeah keep thinking it's the starter, but not sure why all of a sudden it wouldn't be engaging the flywheel. Looks like everyone replaces the older RX8 starters with the newer ones and there was a recall years back. Bought this used so don't know if it was replaced.

![]() Ammoris does rotary work also. Econolube and tune on 87th. That would be close for you. They also race rotaries.
