My friends new setup has a mixture of KG and LB plates, so the numbers get off a little here and there. Also has 1.25 plates, so it was just under 205 so I tossed the little guys on for good measure.

And Greg, Awesome quarter squats

I was 100% not prepared for my gym closing. Literally for the past month I have been doing "workouts" with a set of pushup handles and a 15 lb resistance band, lol. I did manage to order a full set of resistance bands with heavier resistance and one of those door pieces to switch up some exercises.

This has been NUTS. I perused marketplace and craiglist the other day and I thought the prices were a joke. Nope. People are gouging TF out of fitness equipment.

You've got an amazing setup for a home gym. I don't think I'd ever utilize one, just because I like to get up and actually go to the gym, but that's a pretty stout home setup.

Ah shit I did that a year ago. Taking glucosamine? If not start it now. 3 months in you'll start to feel it working

Put down the at home fitness videos and lift some real weights

Scooby- not trying to be a dick...and you are obviously strong, but there was not one complete rep done in that vid. Bar should touch the chest on every rep. Your spotter is soft AF for even allowing that to occur without shaming you in a loud and aggressive manner.

I will share that feedback with him. In the meantime, my sensitive feelings have been hurt and I'm going to go sulk while sucking on a protein shake.

Dick.

edit: The spotter would like you to know that he did crossfit (lol) competitions that would make you cry like a baby.

What dumbbells do you have, and how much weight can be on there, total?

The Rona has me thinking I might need a basic setup I can put in my front yard for the next novel.

They are powerblocks. Can be a bit finnicky on adjusting with the clips but they are great how compact they are compared to many other adjustable dumbbells.

You can get them in higher weights but these are only adjustable to 45 lbs.

I looked briefly at them the other day, and I think I saw extenders are available up to 95 lbs?

What did you pay for them?

I bought them in 2014, the Classic 45, from sears for 209.99

Not sure what they sell for now. No clue on the extenders honestly...I doubt the classics have the same features as the newer ones...I peeked at the ones that go up to 90 lbs and they are almost 600 bucks.

Itís so hard to justify the money spent.

My gym is 24/7, $25/mo and like .3m from my house.

My argument for the gym equipment is this: You spend the money once......and at least when it comes to iron...it holds its value so while you never get the money you spent on a gym back, you do on weights.

My particular gym is like 55 a month...so I'm spending 600 bucks a year. If I were so inclined to do the home gym thing permanently, I could fairly easily justify spending 2 or 3 times that knowing that I've really only paid an equivalent gym membership for a couple years, yet I have stuff that will last me much longer than that, and at some point can resell for nearly what I paid (or in a crisis like this, WAY more)

I've bought most of my stuff a little over time here and there. Looking back on it now I don't even remember buying most of it at the time so in the end....it's totally worth it.

My equipment is beyond basic. I have some Bowflex SelectTech dumbbells (go to 55lbs), a bench with incline capability, some powerbands, and a pullup bar.

Update:

I'm a fat piece of shit.

Haven't worked out in years.

Body comp is that of a potato or heavily stuffed bean bag.

At one point last year I was 245. Heaviest I've ever been. Hover around 230-235 now. I want to at some point make it to gym 2-3 times a week just to keep "shape". I'm not upset at myself for letting go, my quality of life is amazing. BUT, would def benefit as I'm entering late 30's by transforming my body comp.

Also, my calves have grown 2-3 inches. So, for those of you wondering how to get bigger calves, just stop working out and get fat for a little bit. Works great.
