![]() so the clutch I got replaced 40k miles ago (after the OEM one lasted 110k) shit the bed with the cold weather hitting. I limped it home from the airport with rev matching but now I've gotta figure out how much this is going to cost me.
I called the Import Shop on Antioch and they don't do transmission work apparently, Jay Wolfe is coming back to me with a quote, and Brookside 66 said they need to have me bring the car in to get numbers off the trans itself before they can give me a quote. anybody else in the KC area that I should look at? the flywheels in these are dual mass and the oem clutches are self-adjusting so apparently its a bit of a specialized job and it having been improperly done/set the first time is what I'm assuming caused this one to flame out in 1/3 of the time as the OEM.

![]() so apparently this happened because the shop I had put the clutch in before put the damn thing in backwards (despite having the words "flywheel side" stamped into it.
additionally, they didn't know enough about dual mass flywheel setups to advise me that in most cases the flywheel needs replaced at the same time as the clutch. its too bad the shop is out of business already or we'd be having some rather heated discussions...

![]() update: shop owner actually came across my crankiness and remembered the work they'd done... he actually offered to and followed through on making me whole for the incident. mistakes get made, its definitely how someone reacts to them that counts the most, sorry that they aren't still around.
for anyone looking for driveline work, (so far... lol) I have been generally been impressed with A & V transmission in Shawnee as they did good work at a fair price. communication from them on ETAs, etc could've been better but they always answered the phone when I called them and gave me the updated info.
