so were they on 169 or 435?? i think it would be hard to cross a median and not fall off the bike and slide through a median would be even harder....

Not positive on this but I think they we're coming off of 435 entering onto 169.

Good news: Joel doesn't need surgery. His pelvis should heal fine on its own (even w/three brakes), his collar bone should also heal up fine. When I left the hospital they were going to be x-raying his left hand and right ankle. Joel feels his thumb may be broken and the ankle may be sprained.

The road rash on his hands look completely unreal.

No problem, thanks for all the warm wishes for all parties involved. I consider Joel and his family, my own. So having this happened has hit me just as hard as it has hit everyone involved.

I'll express all your concerns, and best wishes to Joel when I go back up there later tonight.

Celeste, myself and a few others want to pitch in and get him something. Is there anything he needs or could use right now?

I heard about this earlier from Robert. I cannot believe it. I really can't. Met Emmanuel a few times, and he was very nice. I remember a few years back watching the Superbowl at his house.

I never met Lauren, but my thoughts and prayers go out to her family. I hope Joel has a good recovery. This isn't something easy to swallow.

Brian, from what I heard, and what I've read, this doesn't match up, and I'm only saying this because you said Joel stated the news article is wrong. If what I was told is true, I couldn't possibly fathom getting over that. If you can, send me a PM. Look after him man

Exactly, seems as though the media is going off what they think happened and not actual facts from the investigation of the accident (being done by the State Troopers). Which according to Joels dad is not finished yet.

According to Joels dad, they were not in the clover leaf section. They were exiting from 435 onto 169n headed towards Smithville. Which is a long sweeping turn.

Its a long sweeping turn that goes onto a split hwy, lots of people use that split to pass.

its easy to come off that corner and into the lanes

Yes, I know. I was just saying it wasn't the tight clovers mentioned.

Ya, Joels dad said something about he was contacted to do an interview and turned it down. I would not be interested either.
