Yes, but not worth the risk for me. I'm streaming my TV service using Direct TV Now (35/month) with HBO addon (5/month)

however, I don't watch TV much. So I really have no issues with tv series since I don't follow any.

I am a cord cutter, but I don't use Kodi. I run a Plex server in my home for all my movies and TV. Live I pull OTA.

Every TV in our house has an RPi setup with Kodi that grabs from a local media server. We use Xfinity and for $30 more than we were paying for Internet, we have 2 DVR Cable Boxes and cable TV. The add-ons for Kodi to get Live TV were annoying after a while having to keep them updated. Through Xfinity, they have a channel guide app that plays well with Roku so any TV that's not our living room or master bedroom. I can access about 85% if not more live channels as well as our DVR and On Demand.

What's your process for stocking your media server?

Me and a bunch of buddies all use plex together, share each other to each's library. If you need to watch it, we have it.

Sickbeard is the PVR for all our TV shows. It finds them and downloads them when they air, sorts them to the proper folder, alerts Emby to update the library which in turn updates Kodi, then it sends me an email telling me it's done with whatever it downloaded.

For movies, I normally just get on once or twice a day and search for ones I don't have any new ones that just came available and manually send it to the downloader. I did have this automated however just wasn't a fan as I was literally doing the same thing only just being ahead of it.

Do you guys run through a VPN (if so, can you recommend one)?

I have been hesitant to even look at it, but realize a VPN may not be a bad idea anyways.

I have just been using fireTV, sling, and an HD antenna.

Tried a couple of VPNs. Your router may need a custom firmware to support it, but then the VPNs I tried were super slow...like 5-7 mbps...they said they'd get higher but they didn't.

I use ExpressVPN. I get great speeds on it IMO. I was torrenting the other day at was pulling down about 3.8 MBytes/sec from behind it.
