Default Nitrous'd moped!

So my secondary mode of transportation is a scooter. For fun over the last few years I've been modding it for power. It started out as a 125cc gy6. It currently has a 161cc, big valve, shaved head, ported, cam, exhaust. Its relatively fast considering how fat I am(accellerating not top speed unless 65mph is "fast"? lol). I got a complete nitrous kit for a very reasonable price. Its designed for 100-250cc. This is the book that came with http://www.starracing.com/Star/documents/Wet_Kit.pdf

The kit didn't come with any nitrous filters, some people recommend 2.
Some people recommend fuel pressure safety switch. Lastly I'm not sure the best way to purge it. Or if I even need to purge it? The distance from the bottle to the jet will be 12" or so. I'm starting out at a 4hp jet and plan to work up to a 10hp. I have a wideband on the bike for tuning.

Any advice besides don't blow my motor?

My advice, sell the the kit for money.

I know that's now what you were asking here though.

To be honest, that would be a nightmare to deal with on a scooter that you use as a mode of transportation. Considering you're posting asking about it all tells me it's probably not for you.

Just my 2 cents.

no this isn't a main form a transport. I use it for short runs to the store and such. I work at home, wife stay at home mom, mom lives next door. We share two nice cars. The scooter just lets me grab lunch or hit a store if they are on a field trip. I've rebuilt the engine, gearbox etc before. A crank replacement I can do in a couple nights after work. I already have a forged crank, piston, etc lined up for the next motor but I'm going to learn on this one. There are lots of people that have sprayed these gy6's but mine has high compression. Last night I was looking at getting some 100ll avgas from the airport.

You will not need to purge, if you keep a small nozzle on it I see no reason why it cant work very well, I have used nitrous many times and had a really fun time with it but it gets expensive if you use a lot which you will not be doing.

The manual claims 200 seconds of spray for 2lb bottle at 10hp jet. Which is pretty much the limit on a cast piston. Cool no purge that saves $100. I guess I'll spring for the fuel pressure safety switch and install a nitrous filter before the solenoid. At 4hp starting out it should be entertaining. It already wheelies through most intersections.

moped wheelies are so funny. Some guy wheelied past me on a moped while I was riding my motorcycle last season. Made my day.

This sounds like a neat little project but are you sure its wise to use AV gas vs buying some actual race gas?

I have read AV gas is a no-no because it is made for combustion at altitude.

Octane is octane. I've read it both ways. I used it for several years in a nissan truck that I put high compression pistons in. I have a few friends that ride sport bikes and harleys. I get the appeal of a big bike but the scooter is hilarious. I'm sure I annoy my neighbors. It actually sounds pretty rumbly.

Hell, your scooter is probably already faster than most Harleys

Not really. There is a bit more that goes into it than that.

AV gas has a slower flame speed, it also doesn't use the same octane scale as auto gas. Not to mention it is illegal and carries a $25,000 fine.

Well I got the kit running. I jetted it for 6hp. Bike did not complain at all. It ended up running 10 to 1 afr. I ran 25% q16. Took it up to Omaha and raced some other scooters, minibike and groms. Was an awesome time. Bike makes about 16-17 whp on the spray.
