STAR WARS EPISODE IX: Possible New Details About The Knights Of Ren And The Movie's Villain - SPOILERS

A very interesting new Star Wars Episode IX rumour has surfaced today which claims to reveal an even bigger threat than the First Order and plans for the Knights of Ren. Hit the jump for further details...

While speculation continues to run rampant that the Star Wars Episode IX's title will be revealed during Disney's earnings call this afternoon, a new rumour from the usually reliable Making Star Wars has generated a lot of excitement online.

Apparently, Kylo Ren will find his role as Supreme Leader under threat when a mysterious force from a new dimension called "The Beyond" emerges to not only destroy his Empire but the entire Galaxy. Could whatever that might be result in the Resistance being forced to team up with their enemies to finally bring peace to the Galaxy?

We'll have to wait and see, but it's said that this mysterious realm contains an evil even more deadly than the Sith, and the site also adds that the Knights of Ren return from "The Beyond" in this movie. What's not clear is whether they were sent there by Kylo to investigate many years beforehand, or if something else led them there.

There are even rumblings that we could see Sith powered Stormtroopers, so it seems director J.J. Abrams is pulling out all of the stops when it comes to finishing the Skywalker Saga.

This is just a rumour for now, but it's definitely food for though. What do you guys make of these details? As always, share your thoughts in the comments section down below.

STAR WARS: BALANCE OF THE FORCE? The Title For EPISODE IX May Have Leaked Early

We didn't find out what J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode IX would be called during Disney's earnings call, but a fan has done some internet sleuthing and may have uncovered the title himself. Take a look...

There are always countless rumors relating to the subtitle of a new Star Wars movie in the buildup to its official reveal, but this one may hold a bit more weight than some of the others we've heard.

A Redditor claims to have done some digging into the JavaScript over on StarWars.com and managed to uncover the title of the final installment in the Skywalker saga: Star Wars: Balance of the Force.

This certainly sounds like a feasible title - although we already had a reference to the force in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: The Force Awakens, so Lucasfilm reusing the word for this final part of the trilogy might be a stretch.

At any rate, this is obvioulsy just a rumor for now but hopefully we'll find out for certain soon. The title of The Last Jedi was unveiled around this time in 2017, after all, but there is a lot of speculation that they could wait until Star Wars Celebration on April 11 to announce it.

If Star Wars: Balance of the Force did turn out to be the title, what would you guys think? Drop us a commend down below.

'Star Wars: Episode IX': Knights of Ren Theory Suggests Shocking Connection to Rey

Lucasfilm is set to release the final entry in the Skywalker Saga later this year, but fans still know very little about Star Wars: Episode IX.
Die hard Star Wars fans continue to dig deep for anything to do with the franchise, and many have questions about teases made in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. While Snoke continues to dominate conversations, others are curious about the Knights of Ren.
A new fan theory suggests there's a major reason why Rey and the Resistance have yet to run into these characters, and it's because there's a big impact this meeting will have on the new protagonist of the Star Wars franchise. But that could change when Star Wars: Episode IX premieres next year.

Quote:
The Knights of Ren are all clones who look like Rey.
That's why Rey sees copies of herself in the "mirror" of the cave that's strong with the darkside on Ahch-To.
It's also why Kylo sounds all freaked when he asked "What Girl?!" in TFA.
That's why the KOR wear masks.
I believe Rey and the KOR to be female clones of someone, possibly Luke Skywalker (cloned from his severed hand found on Cloud City).
I can't really think of anyone else's DNA that the The First Order (or whoever did the cloning process) could have gotten their hands on. Shmi Skywalker seems like a stretch. But I have a feeling that someone tried to resurrect Vader as a clone, and it failed in the way that all attempts resulted in female clones. The Force itself could have made this happen.

This seems a little unlikely given how little clones have factored into the sequel trilogy of the franchise, but this is Star Wars. Crazier things have happened.
So far, this remains a major mystery. Director J.J. Abrams introduced the concept of the Knights of Ren in The Force Awakens, but Rian Johnson decided to omit them for Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

There's a lot of mystery surrounding the next film in the saga, and many fans are eager to find out how the franchise will finally end. It's a tall order, but Lucasfilm and Abrams seem eager to answer the challenge.

STAR WARS: EPISODE IX Concept Art And Reference Photos Have Leaked Online - Major SPOILERS

Concept designs and reference photos for Star Wars: Episode IX have been leaked online, giving us first looks at several new characters while confirming some rumors about the likes of Rey and Kylo Ren...

A whole bunch of Star Wars: Episode IX reference photos and concept art has leaked online, and they reveal quite a bit about the new and returning characters from this final installment in the Skywalker saga.

In addition to confirming some recent rumors about the updated costumes the likes of Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) will be sporting in the movie, we get a first look at the design for the older take on Lando Calrissian (Billy Dee Williams). The artwork would also seem to reveal the type of characters that franchise newbies Richard E. Grant and Dominic Monaghan will be playing.

Plus, there are pics of some of the new droids and aliens that'll be introduced, and most of 'em look pretty damn awesome.

The image was first shared over on Reddit and may not stay up very long, but for now be sure to check it out below and let us know what you make of it in the comments. Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters this December.

Star Wars 9 Rumors Say Lando Has a Daughter, And the Books Already Set it Up

The latest rumors suggest that Naomi Ackie is playing Lando's daughter in Star Wars: Episode IX - and the tie-in books may well have set that up. Right now, precious little is known about the last film in the Sequel Trilogy. We know that Billy Dee Williams is returning as Lando Calrissian, although the latest reports suggest he only has a small role.

Williams' return isn't really a surprise. Lucasfilm will be keen to link this film to the Original Trilogy, which is actually quite a difficult task. Han Solo was killed off in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, while Luke Skywalker died at the end of Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Tragically, Carrie Fisher passed away before the release of The Last Jedi, although previously unseen footage will hopefully allow her story to come to a satisfying close. So, it's easy to understand why Lucasfilm asked Williams to reprise the iconic role of Lando Calrissian.

Over on Reddit, a user named Temiriblagg1 has claimed that Naomi Ackie will be playing Lando's daughter, Veranada (Vera) Calrissian. They claim to have been an extra on Star Wars: Episode IX during filming at Pinewood Studios, and they say they played a "guerrilla militia in a secret type of bunker on the planet of Batuu." Naturally at this stage it's impossible to confirm this report with any degree of certainty, but it's an interesting comment that actually has a precedent in the Star Wars tie-ins.

Last year, Lucasfilm published a tie-in novel called Last Shot written by Daniel José Older. It explored the relationship between Han Solo and Lando Calrissian through the years, with one section set after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. In that time period, Lando had settled down on Bespin and turned it into a successful business, but his life was interrupted by an encounter with Kasha Bateen, a former Twi'lek freedom fighter and an old flame.

To Lando's shock, he found himself genuinely attracted to Kasha; the scoundrel who had fooled around with love was beginning to realize what it really meant to have romantic feelings for a woman. Han and Leia were somewhat surprised at this development, not quite knowing what to make of it. "We thought Forever-Player Lando was bad," Leia reflected, "Head-Over-Heels Lando might be ten times worse." By the end of the book, Lando had decided that he was finally ready to settle down and start a family of his own.
Last Shot is set three years after the events of Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, so it makes sense that by the time of Star Wars: Episode IX Lando's vague dream of having a family would probably have been fulfilled. Going by the canon, then, it's entirely possible that Naomi Ackie could indeed be playing the part of Vera Calrissian, Lando's daughter.

STAR WARS EPISODE IX: J.J. Abrams Marks End Of Filming With A First Look At Rey, Finn, And Poe Dameron

Star Wars Episode IX director J.J. Abrams has confirmed that it's a wrap on the conclusion to the Skywalker Saga and he's marked that with a behind the scenes shot of the movie's three lead characters...

Star Wars Episode IX has officially finished filming and director J.J. Abrams has made it official with a behind the scenes image. As you can see, it offers up a first look at Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega), and Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac).

While this isn't our clearest shot of the trio, it's bound to get fans talking and trying to figure out what this reveals about the still-untitled movie; for example, are they back on Jakku here or is just some other desert planet? Regardless of what the answer may be, the image confirms that those leaked character images were legit.

Regardless of what the answer may be, the image confirms that those leaked character images were legit.

Seeing as Abrams hasn't chosen to reveal the movie's title with this image, chances are we can expect that to come our way during Star Wars Celebration in April along with the first teaser trailer or possibly just a behind the scenes sizzle reel.

What do you guys think of this image? As always, share your thoughts in the comments section!
To check out all the reveals from that leaked set of
character images, hit the "View List" button below.

Richard E. Grant's Role Finally Revealed

Richard E. Grant has previously said that his role in Star Wars Episode IX is highly secretive and that's understandably led to a lot of speculation about who he might be playing.

Alas, all those theories about him being a new Sith or even an older version of a prequel/original trilogy era character couldn't have been any further from the truth as we now know that he'll actually be taking on the role of a First Order officer. Why Lucasfilm would feel the need to keep that such a huge secret is obviously hard to say.

After he was mostly wasted in Logan, though, it will be a lot of fun seeing Grant get to play a villain.

Dominic Monaghan Joins The Resistance

The Lord of the Rings actor worked with J.J. Abrams on Lost so it makes sense that the filmmaker has chosen to cast Dominic Monaghan in what will presumably be his final Star Wars movie.

The importance of his role in proceedings remains to be seen but we do at least know that he'll play a Resistance officer. The uniform he's wearing is pretty standard so it could be that we'll see him in the trenches alongside characters like Poe Dameron, Finn, and Rose Tico rather than in a command position.

Rey Embraces The Light

At the end of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Rey's powers were taken to another level and seeing as at least some time is bound to have passed since then, chances are she's even more powerful than ever before (especially if she's been training herself up with those Jedi texts she managed to recover from Ahch-To).

Based on the white robes she's now wearing, Rey has finally found a permanent "costume" of sorts to reflect the fact that she's a Jedi.

It doesn't appear as if she has a lightsaber at this point in proceedings - Luke's was destroyed, remember - so it's going to be interesting finding out how J.J. Abrams handles both that and what sort of Jedi she's going to be - after all, it's definitely noteworthy that she's wearing white rather than the black Luke ended up donning in Return of the Jedi.

Kylo Ren Keeps It Simple

Kylo Ren became the new Supreme Leader the last time we saw him but he hasn't really changed up his appearance all that much in the meantime. His hood and cloack have made a return (which make him look particularly Sith-like) as has the mask, but we'll get to that a little later.

Now that Snoke is dead and buried, you have to wonder whether or not J.J. Abrams will provide some answers about who or what he was and how he became involved with The First Order.

Either way, Ren still appears to be wielding his unique lightsaber and he presumably still hasn't found a way to stabilise that blade. One thing which still hasn't been revealed is what his face looks like beneath that mask but I doubt too many changes have been made since we last saw him.

The Mask Returns

There have been rumours for a while now that Kylo Ren's mask would return in Episode IX and this leak confirms that those were legit. After destroying the headpiece following a scolding from Supreme Leader Snoke, Kylo has repaired it and it now appears to be glowing red across the cracks.

We know it means a lot to the villain because it's based on the helmet his grandfather wore, so now that his "master" is no longer a factor, it's no wonder he's decided to undo his temper tantrum!

J.J. Abrams was the one who came up with Kylo's mask so it actually makes sense that he's decided to undo Rian Johnson's decision to get rid of it. Giving it such a menacing appearance is also a smart move and one which should really help him to stand out during the course of this adventure.

Poe Dameron Looks Battle Ready

While Poe Dameron is basically the leader of the Resistance now, it doesn't appear as if he'll be backing down from seeing action on the battlefield. Chances are that this is just one of many costumes he'll wear throughout the course of this story but it does confirm that he'll do more than hang around a battleship, and fans will surely appreciate that because Poe deserves to take on a key role in the finale.

A Nod To Solo: A Star Wars Story

It's worth noting that the appearances of these characters could change, especially as the leaked image features a combination of reference photos and apparent costume tests.

However, something that got everyone talking is the fact Billy Dee Williams' Lando Calrissian is decked out in an outfit which is quite clearly paying homage to what Donald Glover was wearing in Solo: A Star Wars Story. No matter how that spinoff was received, it makes sense for Lucasfilm to create some connective tissue between the two and this is a smart way to do that.

It may also be an indication that we'll find Lando back in the gambling dens he frequented as a youngster now that the fight to save the Galaxy has seemingly become something of a lost cause thanks to the sheer amount of power wielded by The First Order.

A New Foil For BB-8

Before The Last Jedi was released, that black BB unit belonging to The First Order was very much promoted as something BB-8 would be squaring off with throughout the course of the movie. Well, that didn't happen and their sole interaction was definitely a bit of a letdown.

However, one of the droids featured in this leak is described as a Resistance droid that will be "annoying" BB-8 throughout the course of this adventure so it will presumably be comic relief.

Plenty Of Practical Effects

Rian Johnson didn't shy away from utilising practical creature designs in his movie but we all know that it was J.J. Abrams who started that, so it's no great surprise that he's come up with a lot of cool new aliens for Episode IX.

Some of these aliens are familiar, while others appear to be totally new creations but they're all bound to play either very small or notable roles in this movie.

Common sense says that most will be background characters but it's every bit as likely that some of the actors who have been added to the cast could end up voicing them or even suiting up in heavy prosthetics. We'll see, I guess!

Some Notable Omissions

Unfortunately, a lot of familiar faces are absent in this leaked material, including Luke Skywalker (who will presumably return as a Force Ghost), Finn, and General Hux. I don't think we should read too much into that but if you're wondering why General Leia is nowhere to be seen, that's because Carrie Fisher sadly passed away before costume tests like these could even be considered.

She will, however, be making an appearance courtesy of unused footage from The Force Awakens.

What do you guys think about this first round of leaks from Star Wars Episode IX? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts on that in the comments section down below.

'Star Wars: Episode IX' Rumors Explain Rey's 'Force Awakens' Look

The rumor mill is in full swing for Star Wars: Episode IX, as fans spend the wait for the first trailer speculating over what we can expect when the film hits theaters in December.
But director J.J. Abrams added more fodder yesterday when he announced filming wrapped, accompanied by an emotional photo of the film's stars embracing, including Daisy Ridley, Oscar Isaac, and John Boyega. What's worth pointing out, however, is the fact that Ridley has a very familiar appearance in the new image.

As you can see, Ridley has a very similar hairstyle and outfit compared to what she wears in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. It's also interesting since they're located in a desert, leading some to speculate that they're on Jakku once again.
The photo is not old, because both Boyega and Isaac have different appearances from their parts as Finn and Poe Dameron in The Force Awakens. And a rumor recently posted by Making Star Wars (which has a good track record for these kinds of things) might reveal a major reason for the change.
According to the site's latest report, Ridley had to use this similar style because of unused footage she shot with Carrie Fisher from Episode VII. The next film in the Skywalker saga isn't writing out Leia Organa after Fisher's tragic passing in 2017, but will instead utilize unseen shots from both The Force Awakens and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
So in order to make the inclusion of the shots seem seamless, Ridley adopted a similar appearance to how she looked in The Force Awakens, and we'll hopefully get a lot more closure to Leia's role in the ongoing Star Wars saga.

The Millennium Falcon May Get Another New Look in ‘Star Wars: Episode 9’, See a Mock-Up

Here’s a rumor that will appeal to hardcore Star Wars fans who love to obsess over every minute detail. Word on the galactic street is that the Millennium Falcon is about to get yet another upgrade for Star Wars: Episode IX.

If you’re someone who fears change, though, don’t fret: it’s not a huge change. Eagle-eyed fans may have noticed that at the end of The Last Jedi, the new sensor array dish on the Falcon was destroyed. That means the old hunk of junk is due for a tune-up.
According to Fantha Tracks, a “trusted source” claims that in Episode IX, “the Millennium Falcon will sport a new style sensor array dish, different to any we have seen before.” They even have some fan art to give you a better idea of what to expect:

In the display image at the top of the story, you can see the sensory array dish that came before, a rectangular object that curves like a snow shovel blade. That dish was new as well, at least in terms of the franchise. The original dish looked like…well, more of a dish:

That previous dish was knocked-off in The Return of the Jedi, when Lando was escaping from the second Death Star. Then there’s the dish seen in Solo: A Star Wars Story, which lays flat against the ship, instead of sticking up.

Here’s the part of the story where I admit that I’ve personally never noticed any of this, because I just don’t focus on this stuff. Not that I’m judging you if you do! Attention to detail makes fandom a fun thing. Thankfully, the wonderful world of the internet has info on this doohickey in the form of a Wiki. So if you, like me, have no idea what any of this means, here are the details:
The Fabritech ANq-51 sensor array computer was the system that provided the powerful sensor capabilities of the notorious Millennium Falcon. While only 4.5 meters high, it had an effective of range of half a million kilometers. This computer took all the data provided from passive mode and scan mode sensors, electrophoto receptors, subspace comm detector, and processed into information usable by the pilot or sensor operator. Also, the computer controlled the jamming devices, short-range targeting systems, and the IFF transponder. Components of the ANq-51 included a rectenna dish, electrophoto receptor booster, attitude adjust, active sensor array, passive sensor array, and subspace comm detector.
Whether or not this new dish will be focused on in Episode IX, or go completely unremarked upon, remains to be seen. It could simply be a new background details for obsessive fans to point out, or it could somehow play a major part in the story. Who knows!

Cantina Talk: Is Episode IX Called Balance of the Force?

Following a down period for rumormongering around December's Star Wars: Episode IX, things have really picked up in the last couple of weeks. Now all kinds of potential plot points, costume designs, and even maybe-possibly-kinda movie titles are being thrown around with wild abandon. Fans won't know for sure until the end of the year, but if all of these leaks are true this might go down as the most revealing two weeks in the run-up to Episode IX's release. Read on to see what you may have missed.
Is Episode IX's Title Actually Balance of the Force?

The Source: Speculation and someone on Reddit

Probability of Accuracy: All things considered, it'll likely be proven incorrect in the long run.
The Real Deal: There was much buzz a few weeks back that Disney boss Bob Iger was going to announce the title of Star Wars: Episode IX on an investor call, just like he announced Rogue One’s title back in 2014. It didn't happen, much to many people's chagrin, but that didn't stop someone on Reddit from claiming to have discovered the name by poking around on the official Star Wars site. That title, according to the theory, was Star Wars: Balance of the Force. Considering the movie is the finale for the series, that name would make a lot of sense (it also happens to be the title of a pinball game). Lucasfilm is staying quiet about whether the title is real—and frankly is likely to remain silent until Star Wars Celebration in April—but it should be noted that maybe only one man knows the title, according to Dominic Monaghan, who's making his franchise debut in the film. Stay tuned.
A New Look for Old Lando

The Source: Once again, someone on Reddit with connections

Probability of Accuracy: These seem to be legit, if not necessarily visually clear.

The Real Deal: Speaking of Episode IX spoilers on Reddit, someone on there shared what looked like costume reference and concept artwork and photos for new and returning characters, including Kylo Ren wearing a repaired helmet, a new robot to cause trouble for BB-8, and the first glimpse of Old Lando Calrissian, wearing an outfit not unlike something that Donald Glover was wearing in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Is that synergy, or just someone being really into yellow shirts? Let's hope it's the latter. (For those wondering what can be learned from the images: Nothing much, to be honest, but Star Wars continues to look like Star Wars, which is probably for the best.)
Episode IX Might Bring Both Sides Together for a Quest

The Source: Anonymous sources who claim they know things

Probability of Accuracy: This one is difficult to rate one way or another, so let's say even odds.
The Real Deal: Strangely enough, newrumors are starting to circulate suggesting that a significant portion of Episode IX will involve both the Resistance and the First Order in a quest to find some kind of mysterious object. (It's a J.J. Abrams movie, there's bound to be a mystery box somewhere.) There are also, interestingly, rumors suggesting that the quest might not involve the First Order and Resistance working at odds, but actually coming together in the face of a threat that puts both sides of the conflict on the back foot. It should be remembered that there is little, if anything, to back up these rumors, so they shouldn't be taken as gospel by anyone. But, on the off chance that Abrams and/or anyone else at Lucasfilm wanted to redeem Kylo Ren as the series heads toward its climax, bringing him in league with the light side of the Force and giving him the opportunity to do something good for a change is an obvious way to make it happen.
A Threat Big Enough to Unite the Resistance and the First Order

The Source: More anonymous sources

Probability of Accuracy: As with the last item, who can tell at this point?

The Real Deal: In case you were wondering what kind of threat could unite the Resistance and the First Order, there's a rumor for that, too—and it's a good one. For some time, fans have been wondering whatever happened to the Knights of Ren, the mythical order that Ben Solo's new name came from. Now there's speculation swirling that they might be that threat, having returned from the Beyond—a Star Wars mythology term for what may be the afterlife of the Sith, judging from its usage in the Star Wars: Aftermath series of novels—with a mysterious new agenda. (Alternatively, the Beyond may simply refer to whatever is outside the Outer Rim, and therefore the known galaxy.) It's been rumored for some time that the Knights of Ren would play a part in the new movie, but this latest iteration of the rumor—that their return isn't exactly good news for Kylo—would be an interesting wrinkle if it turned out to be true. It would also open up space (no pun intended) outside of the galaxy for future movies to explore. Does that mean we should put stock in this rumor that it wouldn't otherwise earn? We wouldn't go quite that far just yet, but it's worth considering.
Cameo Calrissian

The Source: One more time: Anonymous sources with a seeming in at Lucasfilm

Probability of Accuracy: We can only hope that this isn't as accurate as Occam's razor would suggest.

The Real Deal: Bad news for those hoping for a lot of Lando in the final movie of the trilogy: Fan site Making Star Wars is reporting that apparently he only has a glorified cameo in the movie as an information broker similar to the role Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong'o) played in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. That would be a disappointment if true—yet not exactly a surprise, if you think about how original trilogy characters have been treated throughout the new trilogy as a whole. Hell, if Lando makes it out of Episode IX alive, that's going to be a win for a lot of people. Please don't kill Lando, J.J. Abrams. We'll stop asking about the movie title, promise, just leave Calrissian alone.

'Star Wars: Episode IX' Theory Proposes Someone Else Might Be in Kylo Ren's Helmet

Until we get some solid details about Star Wars: Episode IX, fan theory is free to run wild with ideas of what the Skywalker Saga finale will bring. One growing focus of Episode IX's fan theories has to do with the Knights of Ren, and their relationship with their leader, Kylo Ren / Ben Solo.

Rumors have pointed to Star Wars: Episode IX finally bringing the Knights of Ren into the spotlight - though not in the way fans many have expected. Now a new theory is introducing another possibility closely-related to the Knights of Ren: That there's a going to be someone new who dons Kylo Ren's armor and helmet!

Inverse is the site where this theory originates. It basically posits that the Star Wars: Episode IX costume images that leaked earlier this year were actually real - including the reappearance of Kylo Ren's helmet, which was seemingly smashed during The Last Jedi. The theory points out that Kylo Ren isn't just a name - it's a title. Kylo is identified as the master of the Knights of Ren by Snoke in The Force Awakens, which could arguably mean that his helmet is a symbol of leadership in the group. It's believed that due to this system of rank, Episode IX will see Kylo Ren dethroned as leader of the Knights of Ren, and a new member will step up to claim leadership - and the iconic helmet that goes with it.

This theory isn't as wild as it may initially seem. For one thing, it connects back nicely to current theory that Episode IX will introduce a new threat to the Star Wars universe, from a region known as "The Beyond." That same theory claims that the Knights of Ren will be tied to this new threat - either bringing warning of its approach, or in possession of (or under the possession of) this new threat. In either case, the result would be the same: The Knights of Ren return to the known regions of the galaxy, only to find their so-called master isn't the leader they want or need him to be. That would definitely spark a coup for leadership, and could be the way that one of the new Episode IX cast members (like Matt Smith?) fits into the story. It would also be a good way to finally have Kylo come back toward the light of Ben Solo, and unite with Rey to truly bring balance to The Force.

What do you think: will Star Wars: Episode IX reveal a new Kylo Ren?

J.J. Abrams Talks Wrapping ‘Star Wars Episode 9’, Bringing Back Lando Calrissian & More

Fans are patiently waiting for any details they can get from the forthcoming Star Wars Episode 9. Every now and then we think we’re about to get a title or a teaser trailer, but we’re still totally in the dark about what to expect from the final chapter of the Skywalker saga. Thanfully director J.J. Abrams finally opened up ever so slightly about working on the highly anticipated sequel.
With Star Wars Episode 9 production completed, Abrams recently made a public appearance at the 14th Annual Oscar Wilde Awards. Of course, Abrams was asked about Episode 9 on the red carpet, and while he didn’t offer up any huge revelations, the director discussed wrapping up production, working with Billy Dee Williams, and following Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Entertainment Tonight spoke to J.J. Abrams and brought up the emotional photo with Daisy Ridley, John Boyega and Oscar Isaac in a warm embrace on the set of Episode 9 on the last day of shooting. Abrams couldn’t offer much insight into what happened that day, but he did express his own anticipation for the film’s release:
“It was actually a pretty emotional thing. The cast and crew did an unbelievable job, and I just cannot wait for you to see what we got going for you. “
Following the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, some fans have been rather aggressively outspoken against what director Rian Johnson did with the franchise. When asked whether that reaction determined where Abrams went with Episode 9, the director said:
“I think every movie is its own movie. Obviously this is a trilogy. We brought to that movie all the passion and hard work we would have no matter what. I think the story speaks for itself. I really, truly can’t wait for you to see it.”
That Abrams is good at tapdancing. He should be by now after the publicity circuit for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. If he can keep a Mystery Box given to him by his grandfather closed for all these years, he’s not going to give any secrets away about Star Wars. But he was able to talk a bit about working with Billy Dee Williams, reprising his role as Lando Calrissian. Abrams said:
“I met him once before, and he was such a sweet guy. I gotta tell you, I have such unbelievable respect for him. We had a great time, and he was wonderful… He just had this aura around him. He’s really just an incredible man and an incredible actor.”
All right, so he didn’t give us anything significant about Lando Calrissian either. He didn’t even acknowledge the presence of Lando Calrissian in the story. He only spoke about Billy Dee Williams as an actor. That Abrams is a crafty one.
Fine, let’s wrap this up. Since this is the end of the third Star Wars trilogy. How does this compare to the other trilogy-closing chapters? Is there one word he can use to describe how he wants us to feel after we walk out of theaters this December?
“You’ll have to determine that yourself. There are a lot of words that we all hope you’ll feel, and I think the biggest and most important one is ‘satisfied.'”
As for any hints as to when we might get the Star Wars Episode 9 title, Abrams wouldn’t offer up any tease at all. So we’ll just have to sit here patiently waiting for more.

‘Star Wars Episode 9’ is Definitely the End of the Skywalker Saga, Says Oscar Isaac

When a press release from Disney and Lucasfilm last summer announced the cast of Star Wars Episode 9, it casually mentioned that this chapter would be “the final installment of the Skywalker saga.” Now franchise cast member Oscar Isaac has doubled down on those claims, and he makes it sound like this really will be the end of the road for the primary Star Wars saga. But what does that mean for the new characters introduced in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi?
Oscar Isaac recently appeared on The Today Show to promote the upcoming Netflix movie Triple Frontier (watch the trailer here, and read our review to see if it’s worth watching), and conversation inevitably turned to Star Wars Episode 9. Since we haven’t seen more than a single official image from the film, and we don’t even know the title yet, Isaac couldn’t say much. But what he did say sounded like this will bring the largest part of the Star Wars franchise to a complete conclusion. The actor said:
“It is the end of the entire Skywalker saga. Nine stories. This is the culmination of the thing. I think what J.J. [Abrams] has done, and really the whole Lucasfilm team, is going to be incredibly fulfilling. It’s also special for us because you get to learn a lot more things about these characters.”
Even though this is the end of the Skywalker saga, Isaac’s comments still make us wonder if this will be the end of the road for new characters like Rey (Daisy Ridley), Finn (John Boyega) and Isaac’s character Poe Dameron. After all, if this is the end of the Skywalker saga, as long as those characters aren’t revealed to have any ties to the Force-sensitive family, then their stories can continue in future movies, TV shows, comics, or whatever form of media Lucasfilm wants to use.
Furthermore, this being the end of the Skywalker saga makes us wonder what that means for Ben Solo (Adam Driver). The Skywalker bloodline flows through him thanks to General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher, who is appearing in the movie by way of unused footage from the previous two films), and if this is meant to end the saga once and for all, one would have to assume that means the First Order leader isn’t going to come out of this alive. Ben seems to have made his choice to stay on the Dark Side as Kylo Ren, and there may be no coming back for him. But what new things will we learn about these fan-favorite characters?

Episode 9 IX has Lots of Poe-Finn Scenes

Of the current “Star Wars” trilogy, one of the more well-received elements is that of Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron and John Boyega’s Finn. The pair have only shared a few scenes together, but the bromantic chemistry is enough it has inspired countless memes, fan art, slash fiction and more.

Well the shippers are going to be very pleased with J.J. Abrams’ “Star Wars: Episode IX” with Poe himself – actor Oscar Isaac – confirming to Metro that the hot-headed Resistance pilot and the former Stormtrooper get a bunch of scenes together in the new film, from the sounds of it far more than they did in the previous two:

“I think the one thing I can say is that it has been the most fun for me, particularly working with John Boyega because we have just had so much more to do together and we just really connected in a great way. It was really a wonderful way to finish it for me because John was the first person I met right when I screen-tested. It was just with me and him. So it just felt like a real full-circle thing.”

This final film of the Skywalker saga reportedly sees Finn poised to take on a real leadership role in the Resistance, as a result he and Poe will be working together more closely. Previously Isaac said shooting the new film was the most fun of the trilogy because it was much looser on set and everyone had more energy.

The big reveal of the new “Star Wars” is expected to happen next month at the SW Celebration convention. The film itself opens December 20th.

STAR WARS: EPISODE IX - Every Spoiler We Learned From The Leaked Poster And Character Images

While Disney isn't expected to unveil anything official from Star Wars: Episode IX until next month, today has been a good day for leaks, and we're now delving into what exactly they have revealed...

Earlier today, we were treated to a new Star Wars: Episode IX poster and some low-res character images which finally gave some of the new additions to the franchise a name.

Taking a closer look at all of that new content, though, we get to finally see the Knights of Ren in all their glory along with never-before-seen spaceship and Stormtrooper designs, and some truly "WTF?" alterations to existing characters - who would have thought we'd ever see Threepio wielding a weapon!

After the mixed response to Star Wars: The Last Jedi, all eyes are on the still untitled finale to the Skywalker Saga to wrap the story up in a satisfying way, and that seems like a very real possibility with J.J. Abrams at the helm of the highly anticipated movie.

So, to check out this full breakdown of reveals, all you guys have to do is hit the "View List" button!

New Characters

There are two noteworthy new additions to the franchise highlighted here: Naomi Ackie's Jannah and who we believe to be Keri Russell as Zorii. Their placement on the promo poster leads us to assume that they'll be on the side of good, but while Jannah looks like she's probably a Rebel fighter of some sort, Zorii could very easily end up being a Bounty Hunter.

It's worth noting that we've heard rumours about Jannah being Lando's daughter, but there's nothing here that seems to link them.

That droid sitting alongside BB-8 is said to be a new comedic sidekick of some sort and that alien next to Finn...well, his or her identity is a mystery for the time being.

The Knights Of Ren

Talking of new characters, there are six of them flanking Kylo Ren, and you probably don't need us to tell you that these are the Knights of Ren we first saw in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

It's been said in the past that they all have different Sith-like abilities but none of them have a lightsaber from what we can see here, and they're instead wielding pretty ancient looking, physical weapons. The big questions going into this movie are: who are they, and what makes Kylo so special that he's been chosen to lead them?

Common sense says it has something to do with his heritage and Supreme Leader Snoke.

New Ships

Look closely in the background of the poster and you'll notice some new Resistance starships blasting through space. As expected, both the A-Wings and Y-Wings have returned and there's even what appears to be a red/orange X-Wing.

On The First Order side of things, we have what seems to be a brand new TIE Fighter but it's possible that it's either an updated version of a past model, or even what Kylo Ren will be piloting into battle. It feels like we're long overdue a space-fight, as the current trilogy has yet to beat the prequels or the original movies in that respect!

The Lightsabers

Kylo Ren's lightsaber still looks relatively unstable, but perhaps not quite as noticeably as in the previous two chapters (that could be a creative decision rather than a story-based one, though).

As for Rey, it seems as if she rebuilt Luke's old blade, but it's hard to say for sure as her hands obviously obscure much of it. Either way, she seems to be sticking with blue so those theories about her wielding a green lightsaber - similar to her former "master" in Return of the Jedi - clearly aren't correct.

Kylo Ren's Helmet

We've heard rumblings for ages now that Kylo Ren will repair his helmet after smashing it in a fit of rage in The Last Jedi and this artwork confirms that.

I don't know what sort of glue they have in a Galaxy Far, Far Away, but that sinister red glow looks very cool and seeing as he was the one who introduced the helmet, you can understand why Abrams has found a way to bring it back. I can't wait to see if this distorts his voice in any way (more so than it already does) but it makes for a great visual*.

*and should look particularly cool on action figures and other merchandise!

The Original Three

With no sign of Luke, Han, or Leia (sigh...), we do have the new trilogy's main heroes front and centre, but do their costumes tell us anything about what we should expect from them here?

Rey is decked out in the colours you would expect to see a hopeful Jedi wearing, while Finn looks like he may have risen up the ranks of the Resistance (which is well-deserved after the lengths the former Stormtrooper was willing to go to the last time we saw him).

As for Poe, it seems as if he's fully embraced his role as a soldier and his costume more than likely points to him spending a fair bit of time on the battlefield in this adventure.

Red Stormtroopers

There have been some disagreements about whether these new-look Stormtroopers are red or just bathed in a red light but I can tell you that it is, in fact, the former. We've known for a while now that red versions of their armour would debut here, and while their purpose isn't known quite yet, it's likely that they're some sort of elite kill squad.

Plus, if we're being totally realistic, one of the main reasons they exist is probably to sell toys!

After all, there's only so much money Disney can make out of Stormtroopers and these nifty red numbers will definitely be a must-have for many collectors out there.

What The Hell Is Going On With C-3PO?

I think this is probably the biggest takeaway from the promo poster, right?

While Chewbacca can be seen at the top of the poster, cast your eyes down and you'll notice C-3PO wearing Chewie's bandolier and wielding his crossbow. Is Lucasfilm trolling us at this point, or what? Well, while this might just be a moment played for laughs, I have a somewhat darker prediction for you.

What if Chewie ends up biting the dust in this movie and Threepio picks up his weapons as a way of paying homage to a fallen friend? It may sound far-fetched, but who would have though Luke and Han would be gone by this point?

Some Big Omissions

It's important to remember that this poster won't be one we see in movie theaters later this year. Instead, it's the sort of thing you'd find on a poster rack in Walmart or across a t-shirt or other pieces of merchandise like mugs and lunchboxes.

Despite that, many fans have already pointed out that there are some key characters missing, including R2-D2, General Leia Organa, and Lando Calrissian. This isn't necessarily an indication that they'll have only very minor roles in the movie, but it's easy enough to see why some people are worried - particularly when poor old R2 is the only droid not being given the spotlight.

It's Subject To Change

A couple of very reliable Star Wars fansites who have been keeping on top of a lot of leaks have pointed out that some of the imagery seen here doesn't match what they've been shown or what they've heard about. Why is that significant? Well, it might not be, but it's worth pointing out that Zorii's helmet is different in the character images to what we see on the poster.

Personally, I would say the poster is the more accurate source of the two as it looks very final, but it's hard to say with these leaks and it could easily be little more than a mockup.

Either way, we need to prepare ourselves for the fact that what we've seen here could end up changing and that we won't get a "final" look at any of these characters until a little later this year, or possibly even next month when that trailer debuts at Star Wars Celebration...

J.J. Abrams Says He Almost Turned Down Star Wars: Episode IX

J.J. Abrams Says He Almost Turned Down Star Wars: Episode IX

This weekend’s Star Wars Celebration event should be a big one. Both LucasFilm’s Kathleen Kennedy and director J.J. Abrams will be in attendance for a special panel about Episode IX. But believe it or not, at one point it actually didn’t look like Abrams would be back.
In a recent interview with Fast Company, the director spoke about his return to Star Wars. While Abrams directed The Force Awakens, he admitted that he almost turned down Episode IX.
“There was an actual moment when I nearly said, ‘No, I’m not going to do this,'” said Abrams. “I was trepidatious to begin with, getting involved, because I love Star Wars so much and felt like it was…it was almost, on a personal level, a dangerous thing to get too close to something that you care that much about. I left loving Star Wars as much as I did when I got there. Like, somehow, it was on a personal, selfish level something I was really happy to have done. Not just excited about doing but happy to have done. And to ask to have that happen again, I felt a little bit like I was playing with fire.”

However, Kennedy was eventually able to convince Abrams to return.
“There was a moment when I literally said, ‘No,’ and Katie said, ‘You should do this,'” recalled Abrams. “And my first thought was, has she met someone? And then I thought, she’s usually right about stuff. When she said it, I think that she felt like it was an opportunity to bring to a close this story that we had begun and had continued, of course. And I could see that even though the last thing on my mind was going away and jumping back into that, especially with the time constraints that we were faced with.”

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Product Packaging Gives Us A Menacing New Look At Kylo Ren

On the heels of yesterday's stunning trailer, an early glimpse of the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker product packaging that'll accompany official tie-in merchandise has been revealed. Check it out...

The full range of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker tie-in merchandise won't be unveiled until Triple Force Friday on October 4, but StarWars.com has now shared a first look at the image that will adorn the product packaging.

Yesterday's teaser gave us a quick glimpse of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) repairing the mask he destroyed in The Last Jedi, and here we get a first official look at the conflicted(?) villain sporting his fully restored head-gear, complete with glowing red cracks.

There's a lot of speculation that Kylo will ultimately turn back to the light in The Rise of Skywalker and help Rey to defeat the returning, possibly resurrected Emperor Palpatine. Is the character really worthy of a redemption arc, though?

Check out the packing images below, and let us know what you think in the comments. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be with us in December.

Don't Expect Captain Phasma To Appear In STAR WARS: THE RISE OF THE SKYWALKER

Actor John Boyega has confirmed that Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie), FN-2187's former superior officer in the First Order did indeed perish in the closing moments of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

While answering questions following yesterday's epic trailer reveal for Star Wars: The Rise of the Skywalker, Finn actor John Boyega confirmed to the audience that Captain Phasma did meet her end as she plummeted through the wreckage of Supreme Leader Snoke’s ship. Because audiences never actually saw Phasma hit the ground, there have been numerous rumors and theories that she may have somehow survived.

Well, in the video below, you can watch Boyega deliver the news to all the Star Wars YouTubers making crazy theory videos.

Though Luke's narration in the trailer proclaims that, "No one is ever really gone," it seems that's not the case for chrome-clad stormtrooper commander.

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Director J.J. Abrams Met With George Lucas To Discuss The Film's Story

Writing and directing a movie as monumental as Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is no easy task, so who better to talk to than Star Wars creator George Lucas? That's exactly what J.J. Abrams did.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker isn't just the end of the new trilogy; it's the end of a saga that has spanned decades beginning with A New Hope in 1977. As such, there's a ton of pressure on director J.J. Abrams to provide a fitting end cap to the long-running Skywalker Saga. So who better to help him tackle such a monster task than original Star Wars creator George Lucas?

Speaking to IGN, Abrams revealed that he met with Lucas before working on the script of The Rise of Skywalker to discuss the vastness of the story and how to bring it all home.

"This movie had a very, very specific challenge which was to take eight films and give an ending to three trilogies. We had to look at what was the bigger story. We had conversations amongst ourselves. We met with George Lucas before we started writing the script. These were things that were in real, not debate, but you look at the sort of vastness of the story and trying to figure out what is the way to conclude this. But it has to work on its own as a movie. It has to be its own thing. It has to be surprising and funny, and you have to understand it. You can't assume anyone has sat and watched eight movies before this one. And yet, I want a kid to be able to watch Episodes 1-9 and see that one story."
There were a ton of questions heading into the reveal of The Rise of Skywalker stemming from some pretty divisive decisions made by the previous director Rian Johnson on The Last Jedi. Whereas Johnson sought to expand the galaxy beyond the Skywalker family tree with Episode VIII, it appears Abrams is more keen on injecting some Skywalker blood back into Episode IX, as evidenced by the name of the film and the big twist at the end of the teaser. The big question now is how does it all come together in the end, and who is the title referring to?

There's no doubt that Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker poses a challenge unlike any previous Star Wars film before it. In a lengthier interview prior to Star Wars Celebration, Abrams explained how the daunting nature of the film, with such a tight deadline, almost made him pass up on the opportunity to direct The Rise of Skywalker.

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER - Check Out Some Of The Best Images Revealed During The Celebration Panel

During the Episode IX panel at Star Wars Celebration, a number of new official stills and behind-the-scenes images from The Rise of Skywalker were shown, and you can check out some of the best here...

Lucasfilm kept us waiting for the Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer earlier today, but it was definitely worth it. Before the teaser was shown during the Episode IX panel at Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, we got to see many new stills from the movie to whet our appetites for what was to come.

The images gave us a first look at many of the new characters and aliens who will factor into proceedings, as well as the return of Rose Tico and some very cool behind-the-scenes shots of the heroes.

A few of these could be deemed a tad spoilery, but there's nothing here that will ruin your overall enjoyment of the finale to the Skywalker Saga when it finally arrives in theaters this December. Instead, they'll probably get you even more excited for the journey J.J. Abrams is planning to take us on, because that trailer made it clear it's not going to be what we expected.

So, to check out these new Episode IX images, simply click on the "View List" button down below.

STAR WARS: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER Actress Naomi Ackie Reveals Her Character’s Name; Is She Lando’s Daughter?

Naomi Ackie shared some details regarding her mysterious character, Jannah, in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, while also teasing a "wild" adventure and (sort of) revealing if she's Lando's daughter...

Star Wars Celebration Chicago kicked off today with a panel dedicated solely to Star Wars: Episode IX (now officially titled The Rise of Skywalker). Disney has kept Episode IX under tight wraps, but the curtain was finally lifted - though only ever so slightly. Capping off the panel was our first look at the movie via a trailer, but prior to that, various members of the cast took the stage to answer some questions.

Included in the group was newcomer Naomi Ackie, who was finally able to share some details about her role. Ackie revealed her character's name to be Jannah, and briefly detailed how she fits into Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

"The original group are going on this epic, epic adventure together and I’m so excited about where Jannah crosses paths with them," Ackie teased. While she stopped short of revealing specific details, she did refer to the upcoming adventure as "wild" on multiple occasions.

Prior to today's panel, there was plenty of speculation that Ackie's character will be the daughter of Lando Calrissian, the smooth-talking smuggler played by Billy Dee Williams (who is also returning for the movie). Once again, Ackie couldn't directly answer the question, but she didn't completely dodge it either.

“Listen, Lando is a very charming man, so he could have children all over the universe. That’s what I’m saying,” the actress hinted. While Jannah wasn't featured in the first teaser trailer, a photo of her was shown on the big screen during the panel. Her costume has seemed to draw comparisons to Lando's, specifically the yellow and blue color scheme as well as the cape.

Of course, we all thought Rey was linked to the Skywalker family tree and turned out her parents were really just a couple of drunks. Or were they? The Star Wars: Episode IX teaser is filled with all sorts of moments that seem to retcon Star Wars: The Last Jedi, which director Rian Johnson previously said he's totally okay with Abrams doing.

STAR WARS EPISODE IX: THE RISE OF SKYWALKER - Check Out 15 Hi-Res Official Stills From The Movie

We normally share hi-res screenshots from trailers for you on CBM but there's no need for that today, as Lucasfilm has released 15 stunning images from the teaser, including that shocking ending...

Earlier today, the first trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker was released and, well, we've still not quite got our heads around that shocking final scene!

Now, we usually share hi-res screenshots from trailers here on CBM but we're doing one better for you now: Lucasfilm has released 15 incredible images highlighting all the key moments, and any one of these is arguably wallpaper worthy. They also give us the opportunity to delve into some of the awesome reveals featured throughout the teaser.

Personally, my theory is that Kylo Ren is actually training Rey in that scene with the TIE Fighter and that he is the Skywalker who rises to put an end to the Emperor once and for all. We'll see.

For now, be sure to check out these Episode IX images by hitting the "View List" button below!

'Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker' Trailer Reveals What Happens to Kylo Ren's Helmet

It's been a long wait since the premiere of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but all of that is about to pay off as we finally have our first glimpse at the end of the Skywalker Saga. With the full reveal taking place at Star Wars Celebration, fans were treated to the first teaser trailer to the end of the series with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
After the events of The Last Jedi, the villainous Kylo Ren went through a lot of major changes. His growth was signified in one specific scene when he destroyed his helmet in a rage, though that appears to have been a minor setback.
The teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker shows Kylo's helmet being repaired with a crackling red substance, making it even more intimidating than it was before. So expect to see the former Ben Solo once again pretending to be Darth Vader, though there's no one around to chastise him for being a child in a mask.
(Photo: Lucasfilm)Fans should expect to see Kylo Ren as a menacing villain once again, despite flirting with returning to the light side in the previous film. This time, we're expecting his allies in the Knights of Ren to keep him grounded in the First Order as they attempt to stamp out the remnants of the Resistance.
Of course, after the events of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we don't expect that to be easy. Luke Skywalker's heroic act during the Battle of Crait has become a legend spreading across the galaxy, likely bolstering the Resistance's efforts against the First Order. And because there's a time-jump before the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker begins, we expect the Resistance to have more recruits from when we last saw them.
But one of the most intriguing bits about this clip from the trailer might be WHO is fixing Kylo Ren's helmet. Notice the hairy hands and the short arms? Is this the return of the fan-favorite alien mechanics, the Ugnauts?! A fan can only dream.
We'll find out what's going on with Kylo Ren's helmet, and who fixed it, when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres in theaters this December.

Star Wars: Lucasfilm Always Planned to Bring Back the Emperor in 'The Rise of Skywalker'

Star Wars Celebration is in full swing in Chicago, and fans have already been treated to an array of exciting news. Yesterday's panel for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker revealed that Ian McDiarmid will be returning to the franchise to play Emperor Palpatine, a role he originated in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi and continued to portray in all of the Star Wars prequels. During a red carpet interview with Yahoo Entertainment correspondent, Kevin Polowy, Kathleen Kennedy (President of Lucasfilm), revealed that the franchise had always intended on bringing back Palpatine.

“This has been in the blueprint for a long time,” Kennedy shared. “We had not landed on exactly how we might do that, but yes.”
Polowy also spoke with the upcoming movie’s director, J.J. Abrams, who discussed what it was like working with the iconic actor.
“Working with Ian was among one of the most wonderful experiences I have ever had. He is like a breathtakingly good actor,” he explained. “I think it’s gonna be a lot of fun for audiences.”
McDiarmid took to Twitter yesterday to celebrate the news, teasing that this will be the Dark Side's time to shine.

During the Episode IX panel at Star Wars Celebration, Abrams also teased what fans can expect from the upcoming movie.
“The movie doesn’t pick up immediately after the last film," he shared. "Some time has passed. This movie is an adventure the group goes on together. One of the great things about getting to work on the movie is the dynamic between all of the characters. They’re amazing together, and it’s something I’m excited for you all to see.”

John Boyega Hints At What We Can Expect From ‘Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker’

While appearing on the Star Wars Celebration live feed, John Boyega gave some hints at what we can expect in JJ Abrams’ Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. It seems we can expect to get more answers and clarity and also more interactions between our fan favorite characters.

Here is what actor John Boyega told Anthony Carboni during the StarWars.com live feed interview:
“The Skywalker saga is done. It felt amazing being part of this final fight. For me, after Episode 8, I wanted more clarity. I had so many questions. I am the Star Wars fan, on set, that likes to debate everything. So for me, I just wanted to see more. I wanted to know about these characters. I wanted to see them together. So I was like, c’mon JJ man, I haven’t written a drop yet but I know exactly what the fans want. They want to see everybody together. They want to see the dynamics between Rey and Kylo. They want more explanation of the [Jedi] path. So let’s do it! So I’m glad JJ was on the same exact page.”
The teaser trailer that dropped this morning certainly showed us some ensemble scenes, and what excites me about Boyega’s quote is that JJ will be giving us answers and clarity. Even after Star Wars: The Last Jedi, some things were left unclear. Rey is told that her fear that parents are filthy junk traders is true, but she’s told that by an unreliable narrator. Snoke is killed, and we have no idea what his intentions or motivations were. And who are the Knights of Ren, the group that Kylo leads that is only mentioned in one line of dialogue in Force Awakens? I expect we’ll get clarity on all of these things and more.
Also, the Star Wars fanatic in me is also excited at the possibility that Abrams will explore more of the Jedi mythology, as Boyega mentions him possibly providing “more explanation of the path.”
