Default Warrant in Kansas but live in Missouri

So my wife just got pulled over in grandview and I was in the passenger seat. when the cop gave us or license back the cop looked at me and said your lucky you weren't driving or I would of arrested you for haveing warrants in Kansas.

Are they allowed to arrest me for something like that and what differents does it make if I'm driving or not??

Basically, I believe it depends on if the jurisdiction that issued the warrant wants to come and get you or not. Grandview PD should have contacted whoever issued the warrant and asked if they wanted you detained until they could come pick you up.

The only reason it would matter as to if you were driving or not would be if the warrant suspended your license. Then they would have arrested you for driving while suspended, and then held you until the other department could pick you up. I'm guessing the officer didn't want to deal with another department's problem.

Long story short, they are allowed to detain you because of your warrant.

diff cites fallow diff rules. Example, seat belt ticket warrent kcmo $50 have been pulled over by kcmo 5xs without being taken in fir their own warrent. Pulled over 1 time in belton, off to jail you go over $50 then 4 hrs later kcmo says just let them sign for bond with new court date! Pointless arrest good job belton, u cost city over $50 booking someone n to just let go!
