Honestly, it wasn't bad.. that picture is of the first time we used it. We ended up filling the jug most of the way up with water, it worked much better. we retired the design though, it just took too much water/shisha to use. Was a pretty bad ass project though

Yeah, you are going to go through that much shisha because of how much it has to burn to fill the chamber.

Nothing wrong with using 5 gallon jugs for monster or hobohookahs. You're going to want to fill the jug 4/5 the way with water rather than 1/2 like in the picture. If you switched to a phunnel bowl, a little shisha will go a long way also the type of coals you are using are going to make a big difference, with that type of setup you are REALLY going to taste quick lights.

I just smoked for the first time ever last week at Jerusalem Cafe and liked it a lot! It's definitely a fun, social, chill thing to do.

My buddy who owns Inity Hookah in Pittsburg KS is gonna send me a hookah. That will complete the firepit/hookah requirements for the fall/winter.

Since my falling out with the Outlaw store, (see my Facebook), I have made an internet purchase. I'll Get you a review as soon as it arrives. Here is what I purchased:

Romman Tobacco is considered the highest quality, most flavorful hookah tobacco on the market. Freshly produced in the heart of Jordan by an experienced shisha master craftsman, this tobacco is hand made with care and attention to ingredient quality to ensure mouthfuls of vivid, unfading flavor as you draw hours of silky cloudbursts of smoke. From the first cumulonimbus breaths to the last juicy smoke rings, Romman delivers a pure distinct fruit flavor from all-natural ingredients. For a really thick smoke try using 1.5 - 2 pieces of quick light or natural charcoals. This item is available in a variety of mouth-watering flavors. Smoke longer, smoke better, smoke lusciously with Romman shisha.

Romman Turkish Coffee
One can trace the origin of preparing this type of coffee to the Ottoman Empire during the 16th Century. The traditional way to serve Turkish coffee is to boil finely ground coffee beans and sugar (if desired) in a small copper pot and then serve piping hot. Romman Turkish Coffee almost has a “burnt coffee” taste to it, but not in an unpleasing way. Some have described this dark, semi-sweet coffee flavor as “roasted marshmallow”.

Appearance: Short Cut, Natural Color, Slightly Juicy, Typical Romman
Nicotine: 0.5%
Base: Honey & Glycerin
Smell: Dark Coffee Roast Reminds me of Nakhla Coffee
Taste: Good Coffee Taste, kind of a sweet undertone.
Smoke: Huge Clouds
Buzz: Average
Duration: 1 Hour

Romman Ivory Coast
Appearance: Fine Cut, Brown, extremely moist, and fresh, Typical Romman
Nicotine: 0.5%
Base: Honey & Glycerin
Smell: The smell is Sour Grapefruit
Taste: The taste is WONDERFUL! Sweet Sour Mix of Grapefruit and Pineapple
Smoke: Big white clouds. Really good
Buzz: Nice buzz I have grown to expect from Romman
Duration: ~180 Minutes

I keep buying other brands and comparing to Romman. Romman is winning every time. I suggest you give it a try. Others pale in comparison. The flavor is strong, the smoke is plentiful and there is no annoying burnt flavor.

If a present-day Alice in Wonderland caterpillar were shopping for his pipe of choice, he'd probably crawl on to Hookah-Shisha.com. In less than 10 years, the company has grown from the depths of a dorm room into a commercial success, with two warehouses in Southeast Austin and a factory in Jordan, offering more than 100 styles and combinations of hookahs. Started by brothers and then students Ronnie and Sami Romman, Hookah & Shisha Central premiered the online selling of hookahs. The brothers also created an original brand of flavored tobacco – our favorite is a combination of peach, mango, and mint. Accessories range from charcoals and replacement hoses to battery-powered glow balls that light up when the water bubbles. Feeling adventurous? Try their new arrival – the Sultan, a 7-foot hookah with lighted glass panels.

This week's smokes include:

Chocolate Mint - The best I have found I buy the large tins, it mixes well with anything or solid smoke alone!
Vanilla - Another great mixer or alone, I buy the big tin of this as well!
Lime - This one is brand new and is awesome. It's fresh and really billows out the smoke.
Grape - One that i can say I really don't care for. It isn't a bad smoke, it's just that the grape flavor is so mild that it is just average.

Ok, youve convinced me. I am 100% pissed at al fahkar because i keep getting headaches. I dont get it, i smoke the same thing i used to, but the new shisha/coal combo gives me a headache EVERY TIME. No matter how much water i drink. It is exascerbated when drinking at the same time (alcohol of course). Would like to pick some up soon, where are you purchasing?

Only notable change is from quick lights (three kings) to natural coals (grey "bricks") and al fahker. Anyone else get headaches/have suggestions?

I'm not sure what kind of natural coals you're using, but I always use the coconut coals, and in my experience they're the smoothest, most taste-free coals I've tried. The self-lighting ones are what taste funny and give me a headache. Also, Al Fahkar is a little bit drier in my experience than other brands which I've noticed will give me a headache sometimes.

As for brands/flavors I like, I'm terrible at remembering brand names, but a couple that I know I like are Social Smoke's Absolute Zero, Fantasia's Adios Motherfucker. AlFakher's Mint and Vanilla are both pretty good, but I'll usually just mix them with others to accent their flavor.

A couple of friends of mine are building a website to review different brands and flavors of shisha, and they're getting their ducks in a row to sell via the site as well. It hasn't really got off the ground yet, but it's a pretty solidly built site.

I use these, I have no patience for the slow lighting naturals. These burn cleanly and have no ill effects!

I tried Hooka once, and as a non smoker (of anything), it gave me a bitter taste. Almost a "pukey" salivating taste in my mouth. Was this from the flavor I had or a me being a non smoker? I still got a nice buzz, but WTF? Tips?

What flavor, and what type of coals (black, grey, etc? did they light from a lighter and spark or from a stove?)

I'm lazy and don't feel like scanning through all of the pages. Whats a good option on hookahs for at home smoking? I've got a puny little guy now and can't stand it.

I know best and cheap don't go hand in hand, so something affordable but still fairly good sized? I prefer single hose setup just because I've had bad luck with two-hoses.
